Actually considering this, guys? If so, there is a demo for the game...

If gifting 3DS/Wii U games becomes a thing, I foresee a forum goer who hates money gifting every member of RFN Funky Barn if only to have a live reaction show a' la Muscle March.

TalkBack / Re: New Smash Bros. Screens to be Shown at E3 2013
« on: January 23, 2013, 11:19:48 PM »
The big character reveal at the end of the whole thing will be... Mii. The Internet will then explode with some emotion that I can't quite pin down.

All (possible) joking aside, I'm sure many people are eager to see how the game looks. We might get a slight video shown, which would make it a bit more exciting.

Neal's going to give this game a 10 and everyone's going to mock him for it for years.

Have to say, I'm pretty dang excited for this.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U Q1 software lineup
« on: January 17, 2013, 11:57:10 AM »
It's a little depressing for Wii U owners, but the 3DS lineup looks great, especially the pack in March.

Though the strategy of "guns blazing" at E3 might be cooled if any of the delayed games (Pikmin, Wii Fit U, etc.) get screen time at E3. I think Fit and Game & Wario will be April/May, and we'll definitely get a "final" look at Pikmin 3 come E3, even though the game should have been out by then. Shame, but suppose that's what we have to live with.  :-\

Great episode, guys, and it's good to have Jon back. If Jon really is immortal after becoming a vampire, will he finally finish the Mass Effect trilogy?

So I may as well throw out a few predictions of my own:

1. Wii U Virtual Console will be shown in a spring Nintendo Direct and both eShops will have a "summer of VC" and then go quiet for a few months until November because they can.

2. I'll support the Metroid Prime 4 prediction because it makes some sense. After the last time, I think it's a case of "Dude, you gotta fix this." Folks will groan at the thought of another one of those games at the start, but then will like it so much when it actually comes out.

3. The 3D Mario for Wii U will be shown at E3 and will release in November. After the huge success of 3D Land, the game will be more of that style.

4. An original Zelda for 3DS will be shown at E3 and release this fall. How it will be is anyone's guess... Twilight Princess sequel.

5. Wii U will finally get some of the big third-party games this fall.

6. Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing will be the first 3DS games with Miiverse.

Bonus: Jonny will say another game is hopeless for North America, and then we'll get a release date for said game a few days later ala Last Story and Pandora's Tower.

That's all I can think of right now. Fun!

All these posts on Tumblr reminding us that the 90's were 20 years ago.  :(

Thankfully, I'm not a nostalgia whore, i.e. miserable.

The Mortal Kombat reboot was pretty bombass, so I'm keeping an eye on this game. The fact that it's coming to Wii U is at least a little reason to smile, I think.

I am Hoagmaster.

See what things I yammer on about!

I just checked this out yesterday. It's very good stuff, gentlemen. Definitely have to check out the backlog.

TalkBack / Re: NWR Staff 3DS Playtime Round Three
« on: October 19, 2012, 11:27:44 PM »
Like Jonny, my times seem a bit gimped but that's because my first 3DS was claimed by an accident in May and I got an XL last month. My top five most played are:

1. New Super Mario Bros. 2 - 41:12 (Got the million coins, haven't got the DLC but plan to when I get my copy back from my sister.)
2. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy - 35:34 (Sure is addictive! Gotta get those crystals and high scores!)
3. Cave story - 14:47 (I'm in the middle of a fourth playthrough now. Very highly recommended.)
4. Mario Kart 7 - 10:13 (Playing online with a friend keeps me coming back to this one.)
5. Kid Icarus: Uprising - 9:47 (Gotta get every chapter done on 9.0 Intensity and get the Treasure Hunts done!)

My top five most frequently used are:

1. Notifications - 75 (StreetPass, Swapnote, and whatnot.)
2. Friend List - 62 (Odd since I only have one 3DS friend at the moment... Maybe I'm lonely?)
3. Swapnote - 50 (Maybe it's because I don't have hundreds to sort through, but I'm kind of enamored with it again.)
4. StreetPass Mii Plaza - 29 (Woo!)
5. New Super Mario Bros. 2 - 26 (Played it every day for nearly a month!)

13
I've never played any of these games but am well aware of their infamous nature. Maybe with save states and (presumably) a five dollar price tag, I'll look into this.

But if I recall correctly, Ghost 'n Goblins wasn't on the Virtual Console list that Nintendo put out in that press release a while back... Maybe this means other games could sneak in?

Hooray for another live show!

The discussion on Rayman Origins made me want to go back and give it another shot. I got to the point where you beat the first few worlds and then find out there's like twice the game before I ran out of steam. I was liking the game up to that point, and if I can pick it up for cheap (I think all versions are 20 bucks at Target, so says the website) I'll definitely give it another go.

I'm still a bit tepid on this show, but maybe I'll look at one or two episodes if they sound interesting. Sounds like they've got big things down the pipe. Yes, big things indeed...

Nintendo Gaming / Re: The Official 3DS System Friend Code Thread
« on: September 19, 2012, 09:48:12 PM »
If you registered me before (Cody), you might notice that I've been offline for months. Well, my 3DS was killed in a fit of rage a while back... But I've since gotten an XL and wonder if anyone's got space for widdle ol' me.

(New) Friend Code is: 2148-9474-1775. Nickname is Cody. I'll probably only add those who add me first because I'm either scared of rejection and/or I don't want to cause mass confusion. Send me a message and we'll avoid all that!

17
I'll give it a go.

Maybe this is so that they have more time to describes games and Nintendo Network on Tuesday? Oh, the hype is increasing!

This does pose an interesting question: what IS Retro working on? If it's another Metroid, I hope we get pointer controls because those were great.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Pre-E3: The Wii U Games List
« on: May 30, 2012, 03:54:42 PM »
But the post says initial game releases, so I doubt Smash Bros. is part of it.  :(

23
Speaking of Pikmin 3, I wonder if treasures will be items like 7-Up lids, sardine cans, and Duracell batteries again. I always got a giggle out of those.

People have been guessing that one title is either "New Super Mario Bros. Wii U" or "Metroid StarFox Fusion Saga" since one slot consists of 27 characters. This is going to be a difficult five days...

Taken from the Wii U Facebook page:

"Guess what the initial game releases will be for Nintendo’s new home console, Wii U? Soon we’ll scratch off to reveal the names! ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒."

One episode with the four of you, and it was pretty great. Games sounded interesting and E3 previews are always fun. Greg must have suddenly sat up in bed and went, "I sense RFN is in danger."
