Lasagna can be both a cake and a sandwich but it is undeniably a sandwich.
A taco is also a sandwich.

I disagree. Lasagna is too saucy to be a sandwich. It stops being a sandwich once it's completely enveloped in sauce. For example, an individual ravioli is a sandwich; a plate of dry ravioli is a plate of small sandwiches; a bowl of tomato sauce that is filled with ravioli is its own dish and not a sandwich.

With all that tomato sauce, I'd say lasagna classifies more as a fruit than sandwich.
