Title: Xenoblade Chronicles X Features 'Outstanding' Voice Cast
Post by: alexosborn on January 23, 2015, 07:05:31 AM

Some of the best in the business are lending their talent to the game's Japanese voice work.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will boast a cast of "outstanding" Japanese voice actors, producer Shingo Kawabata revealed on Twitter.

“As we present our characters, we’re also revealing the people that have lent us their voices," he explained. "We’ve managed to acquire an outstanding cast, so you can look forward to hearing their work. As there was such a large amount of text, recording [the voices] took a lot of work, but the entire cast was exceptionally professional. The end result, of course, is perfection.”

A total of five voice actors have been revealed thus far. They include:

Of course, those in North America and Europe will have an entirely different cast of voice actors for the localized versions. Here's to hoping "outstanding" talent is involved in the dub as well.

It could be worse: modern Square-Enix could've dubbed it. *glares at the FF 15 English trailers*

But yeah, I hope the team in Europe who dubbed Xenoblade are the ones dubbing X as well, because goofy catch phrases aside it was a pretty decent dub.

I wonder if the NA version will still use the European voices again. I think that actually helped make the dialogue more entertaining, but I'm not sure what the consensus would be on that.

I liked the dialogue too. It would also cut back on their costs if they split the bill on English voice actors, making the overhead lower could ensure more games come to Western shores on both sides of the Atlantic.

Looking up encyclopedia entries on the cast announced thus far show a lot of seasoned professionals and one light player (probably does a lot of stage work or something). Houko Kuwashima and Mariya Ise have done stellar work in The Story of Saiunkoku and Flowers of Evil, respectively. Daisuke Sakaguchi ain't no slouch either.

While I would love another UK dub, I have a feeling that we'll get an LA dub given how much more effort is put in promoting this game to North American audiences. The question is if we'll be seeing a regular cast or an anime cast.

Oh, as for a Canadian dub, they have fallen by the wayside. At least I don't see nearly as much Canadian dub efforts as in the 2000s.

So we won't see members of the original English cast return?

Well, you never know. Nintendo has the money to pay for a diverse cast if they want. They will just have to deal with using two ADR studios rather than one.

Honestly, since they are putting more into this game I would think they just totally split the dub work to who does it best and than go from there so,

NCL: Japanese and any other Asian language they do.
NOA: English and maybe Spanish and French to lighten the load on NOE.
NOE: Every other language that wasn't mentioned above.

NOE will probably not dub into languages other than English. Also as mentioned the setting is a US colony ship so the VAs should be American.

As Phoenix Wright proved, it is very easy to mistake America for Japan at times.

They need to get the same voice cast as Nintendo had for its greatest foray into voice acting, Star Fox 64.

If we're going with the logic that New Los Angeles should be populated based on its name, then half the dub cast should be hispanic.  It's a game. I really don't care.

Please just give us the option to turn off battle voices and I'll be happy.

Sorry, Japan requires characters to always call out their attacks for dramatic effect and situational awareness.
