Title: A classy business move from Apple
Post by: Mashiro on September 06, 2007, 02:15:16 PM
So there were some not too happy iPhone customers yesterday. Why? Because of the 200 dollar price drop on the iPhone.

Apple listened though and it saw it's angry customers. And while they could have easily done nothing . . . they did the following:

An Open Letter To iPhone Customers

$100 store credit is pretty damned nice I must say. Kudos Apple for responding to criticism in a classy way.

Slick. Really a great PR move for Apple.

Oh, shut up, you inbred Eskimos. You're dead too. If I had legs I'd kick your ghost ass.

Shame nothing in the Apple store costs less than $300.  This is just as bad (good) as when Nintendo was punished by being forced to give customers $5 coupons.

There's plenty of apparel that costs less than $100. There's software packages for less than $100 (games, iWorks, iLife), iPod shuffles are less than $100, and hey that's 100 songs from the iTunes music store.

That's a good selection of items for free if you ask me . . .

Because Apple was forced by law to give $100 credit to the early adaptors right?

Also . . . simple math here 100 dollars > 5 dollars =P

I actually thought of this when I saw Job's letter. Not to mention that the price difference is actually $200. But it's far better than most companies would have done.

Then again, Sony fanboys haven't been complaining even though Sony drops the price of the PS3 every two weeks or so. I guess they're too busy curing cancer and upconverting their DVDs to glorious 1080p to really notice the lack of playable games for the system.

1 million iPhones sold?  100 bucks back to them all by choice?  I don't care how you slice it, that's impressive.  I certainly was not expecting to get 100 bucks credit to any store.  I'm stoked.

Also, what's with the Nintendo 5 dollar vouchers?  I certainly don't remember that.

Dear Early Adopter,

I'm sorry we didn't tell you about the price drop plans. We were too busy selling them to you.

We tried to call and everything. I even left a message.

Let me make it up to you.
Here's a hundred bucks to make sure you continue to be early adopters.

Thanks for continuing to inflate our share price and attempting to be trendy.

Love,
Steve

Meyers: As Roger Meyers Jr., the owner of the park, I'd like to thank you for stopping the killer robots, and to show my appreciation, here are two free passes.
Homer: But there are five of us.
Meyers: [angry] Here are two free passes!
Homer: That's better.

If you're smart about it you might actually turn a profit.

Also, would someone be willing to kill my avatar (even though I'm not playing Mafia and I never got around to telling Khushrenada how busy I was the past week)?

Yeah, I can kill the avatar.  I'll put it in Flash Frozen in the funhouse.  You want the standard, right?

Yeah. Now that I'm off work, I could even get in a round or two. (If there's any point...I'm definitely not mafia or the nurse, or the game would have been screwed already).

Well, if you're going to play, I can;t make you a deadvatar.  You should try to vote yourself out or something.

Oh, I see. In that case I am officially unofficially not part of Mafia (anymore).

Nope, you gotta be killed or be fortunate enough to get killed by the mafia.

But I was killed! I was standing next to Mashiro when he (she?) blew himself (herself?) up!

I'm guessing to do this you need to buy iTunes gift cards, right?

Nah, I think Mashiro is still in, actually.  His whole fake death thing was a sham.

It wasn't a sham but I am still in . . . they wouldn't let me kill myself lol.

Oh well, the whole business is too confusing. If Mashiro's explosion was a sham explosion, then it couldn't have killed me. But if it were real, and they just brought Mashiro back to life, I'd still be dead (and unable to play). But then again, I said I wasn't playing at all.

Maybe =)

What is that supposed to mean? :P

Lol it means I never purchased stuff off the iTunes music store and that I am unsure of how the 100 dollar credit will actually work =)
