Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is making its debut on Nintendo Switch

Monolith Soft has shown a trailer announcing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The trailer was around a minute long showcasing some gameplay and massive environments. There is not much information, but it will be coming out on Nintendo Switch at a later date.

Xenoblade Chronicles is my all time favorite game so I can't wait for this!!!

The game looks great, of course I'm wondering how a sequel will play out. Considering how the first game ended I have a hard time thinking where they can go with the story of this world. Unlike Xenoblade X which ends on a blatant cliffhanger that already tells you a much greater treat is coming.
I guess what Nintendo and Monolith Soft plan on doing is Xenoblade 2 will be a more focused story driven game like the original, while X and the hopefully eventual X2 are meant to be more sidequest and MMO multiplayer oriented.

This was a real pleasant surprise as I didn't figure they would have another one of these in the works so soon after X.
Damn I still have to beat the other two games.

It did finish perfectly, you're correct, but I don't care I'm so stoked for this game.
I'm also amazed they are this far along, especially considering they are helping with Breath of the Wild.

I can't see this hitting 2017, especially in NA, but it's still nice to see.

I'm super excited for this! Xenoblade Chronicles is my favorite game of all time, and the fear I always had with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was that it would be a direct sequel. The first game really does end brilliantly and that plays a huge part in why I love it so much. So far, it looks like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is largely going to be its own thing set in a similar world and I'm totally on board with that.
The idea that this game might actually make it out in Japan by the end of this year is also really, really exciting (even if it seems like 2018 is a safer bet). Heck, if they could get another game out that quickly after Xenoblade Chronicles X, that might even mean we get two Xenoblade games on this system! I would think the reason we're getting Xenoblade Chronicles 2 so quickly is because they're using the Xenoblade Chronicles X engine (or a modified version of it), so, if that's the case, I don't think it's out of the question. Xenoblade Chronicles X 2?
