Metroid Prime: Federation Force Co-Op and Blast Ball Fun*
« on: August 19, 2016, 12:45:47 AM »
*Depends on your preference and your mileage may vary.

I'm picking this up tomorrow from Best Buy to play, hopefully enjoy, and review. I'd love to play some co-op with my friends here as well as passersby who may not frequent the forums so much.

I'm not too familiar with the game's structure and controls yet, but I'm up for playing some co-op later. My friend code's 0190-0807-1525.

Hey Oedo! How are you liking FF so far? I've played seven missions so far (some multiple times), and while the gyro aiming takes some getting used to, I'm enjoying my time. I've yet to play online, so it'd be great to play with you if you'd like! I'll post my updated 3DS FC when my 3DS finishes charging. (I'll probably forget and post it tomorrow, so I am sorry ahead of time! hehe)

No-one answer me before so I'll ask now, is there touch screen controls like in prime hunters?

No, it's required to use analog controls, but I think there are just two control modes you can do. (I liked the touch screen controls on Hunters. Liked the game, even if cheaters ruined online. Though AI solo multiplayer mode was fun to me!)

It's a lot like Metroid Prime's controls on the GameCube, if you're familiar with those. So it's not too bad.

I was born in 1986, and my first Metroid games were Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion in 2002 (they released on the same day at least in North America), so I didn't grow up with Metroid, really, either until my high school years. I missed out on Super Metroid until it hit the Wii Virtual Console!

It's pretty darn fun! Did you want to try some of the later missions, or go back to some of the earlier ones to get all the medals? I'm up to mission 20, but I only have all the medals in a few of the missions so I'm cool with playing any of them.

FWIW Lucario, I think the controls in this game are pretty good, even if they aren't like the touch controls in Metroid Prime Hunters. The precision aiming with the gyro does take some getting used to, but the game is built well around the default control scheme.

I've gotten some new games to review, so my time was devoted to those unfortunately. So the last mission I did was the boss fight against the two fish that transform into the aquatic creature that can (and did) kill in one hit by eating my trooper. Though I did beat it on the third time, getting all three medals which was cool.

I'd love to play from the beginning, if that sounds fun to you and not an inconvenience. (I need to get my butt in gear and look for and post my friend code. hehe)

For Shame.

I'm actually playing Super Metroid on a New 3DS XL which is just heavenly.

That particular mission seems like it's a good one to do solo if you're trying to get all the medals. I played it more than once with other people and one of us inevitably got hit with the ice blocks and lost that bonus every time.

I didn't get the best sense for the story because I kept jumping back and forth between replaying earlier missions on my first playthrough, so I'm cool with playing from the start. When were you thinking about playing online?

I added my FC to the opening post. And would Saturday afternoon work for you? I'm in Missouri, so I'm in the Central time zone (GMT -6, I believe).

Weekends are tough for me because I'm out of the house a lot, unfortunately. Would you be able to play during any weeknights?

I beat the second major boss in (IIRC) mission 14! I really like this game so far. I even got three medals on some missions! Have yet to try online or Blast Ball yet.

I have to work on my RPG for my senior overview tonight. Plus the New Nintendo 3DS XL I just bought has to be sent in to Nintendo for repair. :(
