Yeah 3rd party developers bet on the wrong horse and now they are scrambling to play catch up. I mean Konami, Capcom, and Sega haven't exactly been putting top notch titles out for DS. Especially Capcom, I'm sure they are rethinking their position now.

General Gaming / RE:BestBuy... Pile of PS3s.. Not Selling!
« on: December 12, 2006, 12:15:03 AM »
Ever since Sony started the consistent bad new from E3 to now I knew the PS3 would end up third. Even with that line of thinking, I never thought the PS3 was be falling out of favor so soon. If this starts to be a regular occurrence across North America, Sony will be finished. They shafted Europe and to a lesser degree Japan to get the as many units as they can to the US. If PS3's start piling up in the States, the few exclusives that they have left will end up on 360.

Wow.....I'm completely surprised by this. I was expecting Square Enix to wait to see how the PS3 and Wii performed over the next 6 to 12 months. This is a feather in Nintendo's cap and another nail in the PS3's coffin.

I haven't checked the sound options personally but, I read in the reviews of the game that did does have both the English and Japanese voice actors. I personally can't stand Goku or Gohan's Japanese Voice Acting. Its obvious that they are voiced by women. I don't mind so much for Gohan's younger incarnations but he shouldn't be sounding like Mickey Mouse as a senior in H.S. heh

That's not a fair comparison to make, considering Ubi had maybe 5 months with a working Wiimote and Retro has probably had it for well over a year.

It is a fair assessment. Nintendo didn't put a gun to Ubisofts head and tell them to make Red Steel a launch title. I own Red Steel and I hope the sequel they are supposedly working on is more refined. The games concept is an excellent one but the final product is merely average. I still had fun playing it though.

After reading several reviews I decided to pick DBZ up and I'm not disappointed. The game is fun and it as the best single player experience in a fighting game that I can recall. The whole DBZ and blech...DBGT storyline is pretty much crammed into the single player mode. The game even has the story for a lot of the movies in it as well. Plus there are a few alternate scenarios. They don't go real in depth with those but they are a nice touch. I do wish they would have called Hercule by his REAL name though. If they didn't want to call him Mr. Satan. The could have at least gave his named the scramble treatment like Videl (Devil). I rather him be called Mr. Natas, Mr. Sanat or Mr. Tanas etc. than Hercule....bah. I also did the attribute customization and the fighting system captures the feel of the series. The standard controls are easier to grasp but the Wii-mote controls are Much more enjoyable.

The only difference was Sega used the Z80 as a sound chip where as SNK used it for graphics. So it could be very easy to emulate Neo Geo games with just a little tweaking of the emulator code.  Or SNK could relese the Sega CD versions fo thier games cuz they arent that bad either.

Like MilkmanX said the hardware was similar but the Neo Geo was far beyond the Genesis. While they both had Motorola 68000 CPUs it ran at 12mhz in the Neo Geo and 7.6 in the Genesis. More importantly the Neo Geo could handle nearly 6 times the sprites and display 64 times the colors of the Mega Drive/Genesis. Sidenote: The 68000 was a popular chip, it was also the CPU in the Jaguar (it ran at 13.296mhz) and the CD-i (15.5 mhz).

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Square Enix to Hold a DQ Press Conference on Tuesday
« on: December 11, 2006, 02:20:03 AM »
Dragon's Quest IX will not be announced for PS3 at this event. Dragon's Quest games have alway been brought to the system with the biggest install base. Enix always wanted to see how system sales went before making that determination. I wouldn't expect to hear a DQIX announcement sometime next year. DQIX will be on which ever system sells the best over the next 6 to 12 months.

Fixed. Okay quote tampering aside. I like wrestling which is why I don't like WWE. The matches are terrible, they have really gone down hill since Vince bought WCW and ECW. I'm glad they have some competition. TNA puts on some damn good matches. You get to see matches reminiscent of the old Cruiseweight wars of WCW. Vince needs to stop worrying about how he can make grown mean literally kiss his bear behind and put on some technically impressive matches. Also, if WWE is going to do women's wrestling could they at least teach the divas how to handle themselves in the ring?

Last I heard the DS has sold 1.3 million units in Europe. With 2.2 million sold here and near 3 million sold in Japan. The DS is doing quite well I think.

I was surprised to see them even offer wired controllers --and at $40!  Why?  Yeah, it's one of the comfiest controllers I've ever held, but that has nothing to do with cost.  $100 for WiFi?  I figured out that if you want to get a full set of controllers, a couple of games, WiFi, and a useless piece of plastic to snap on your box, it's going to cost you about $800.

I agree Bloodworth. They've cancelled my purchase as well. I was looking to the 360 to hold me over until the Revolution got here but now I'll just play my DS. The DS has a bunch games I want anyway. I have an extra $300 to play with. I can't believe how stupid MS was this two trim levels of console. Its gaming system not a car. Worse yet, the harddrive is just going to be a giant memory card because its not standard. My favorite features of the X-box will be basically non existant because publishers will know that not everyone will have a harddrive. MS had prime opportunity to stick it to Sony, instead they've made it easier for Sony to continue to control the market. This is the biggest opportunity Nintendo has had to retake the market, both of its competitors seem to be making grave errors. Hopefuly Nintendo can keep theirs to a minimum and capitalize on its opponents mistakes.

Not only that. He survived the initial accident. He got out of his car to make sure the other driver was okay and was struck by another car. He was great man behind some of Nintendo's greatest ideas, franchises, etc. He's the reason for Metroid and the Gameboy line for example. He died being a good person. He was making sure that the other driver was okay. Let the man RIP.

Vudu, did you buy Madden 2005 for $30 (when it just came out), or did you just check the price now online?

Madden 2005 wasn't $30 when it was new. I think ESPN NFL 2K5 was $20 dollars either from the beginning or it became that cheap very quickly, forcing EA to lower the price eventually. But now that there's not other competition, I expect the price to lower a bit before next year's version.

Madden was $50 initially but not for long. ESPN 2K5 was selling so well that EA quickly dropped Madden's price. F**k Madden, I didn't like it last year 2K5 was better and still is. Now that I have no option, I'm not buying a football game for the first time since.....well 94 or 95. Good EA. Thank you NFL for royally F**king me and the rest of the NFL fans that saw Madden for what it really was.

Thanks for the impressions Jason. I may pick up a copy. Its not like I can find Nanostray anywhere.... I wonder how the DS version compares to the PSP version features wise, I know the PSP version will have the graphical edge. I'm curious as to the AI on DS version too. Does the CPU adjust? Or is it pretty dumb.

Madden NFL's best video game ROTFLMMAO. Madden!? Are you nuts. Its the same regurgitated crap year in and year out and now thanks to the NFL Its the only option I have. Ah well at least I still have ESPN NFL 2K5. Madden only improved when a new competitor came along and handed EA its ass. It happened with Gameday on PS1. It happened with NFL2k on Dreamcast, and NFL 2K5 had a level of presentation never seen before. Madden can't even get the commentary down and the gameplay is as flawed as always.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Revolution to launch in March?
« on: June 30, 2005, 05:48:58 PM »
Yeah I didn't think Sony would launch in the Spring in the US. I though they'd to a 3rd Quarter release at the earliest. I really wonder given the fact that Sony really didn't show anymore than Nintendo what kind of games they will have out. It seems like they are repeating the PS2 launch scenario. I mean all of the "games" shown at E3 were just renders. I think they are launch early to cut down the 360s headstart....360 isn't Dreamcast. MS has the cash to make Sony pay for a PS2like software lull.

They don't tell you your distance.

It's usually not bad. It's just when something is far away. You have to ask yourself "Have I ever run that far before?" If you don't think you can do it, you just defend, or go after something closer, or go stand somewhere strategic, and let the enemy waste their time by closing the distance. Unless the enemy can travel farther than you. Or they have "distance attacks". Then you have to wonder if maybe you could've taken them out sooner, had you been more daring.

Well each of your characters have Range as part of the attributes. So you had a general idea of how far your characters could move and after a few battles you could pretty much be sure of what they could reach. Lunar Dragon Song is looking better and better but I too and disappointed in the battle system thus far. It looks like the battle system from Phantasy Star 1,2, and 4. Which was good for the time it was released but the Lunar system was far superior IMO. Hopefully their is more to the battle system than we can glean from the screen shots.

General Gaming / RE: PSP UMD Sales
« on: June 22, 2005, 08:01:44 PM »
Given all Sony is putting behind the PSP and UMD thats pathetic. The PSP launched with a nice lineup and nothing has come out since. While the DS lineup is picking up, the PSP lineup seems to be dwindling fast. The PSP software lull reminds me of the N64 lull. After the Mario 64 there was a huge lull. The DS has gotten   by amazingly well on a sparse lineup. Kinda of like the PS2, it got by on PS1 games. The DS is getting by on GBA games with top notch games around the corner. If the Sony couldn't topple the DS at its weakest point....they are going to be screwed this fall.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:On Emulation on the Rev
« on: June 22, 2005, 07:48:58 PM »
I like your line of thinking Ian. Capcom could also add back Guy to Final Fight and maybe throw in a two player mode as well. Or just use the extra processing power to get rid of the slow down in some games. I do agree that an original mode should be  included as well.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: "Lunar Genesis" for the DS!

Yeah the box art is very encouraging. I'm still unsure of the battle system. I like the ability to move around in battle in previous Lunars. This one's battle remind me a bit of Phantasy Star.

Am I the only one that think Sega died with the Dreamcast? I mean think about it. What classic quality title have they produced since the demise of the Dreamcast? I can't think of any. The quality of their games has steadily fallen. Sega is just name now, like Atari. I don't think they will ever produce the quality of titles they were once known for.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Rumored Nrev specs
« on: May 28, 2005, 04:20:09 AM »
The 4 core 2.5 Ghz CPU seems to kee reappearing, I'm starting to think that their is some truth in it. If they are G5's they will probably be somewhat stripped down but where there is smoke there's fire usually. I mean we kept hearing about how the 360 was going to have three 3.5 ghz cores and that was pretty much dead on. It ended up with three 3.2 Ghz cores. We'll just have to wait for Nintendo to unveil the specs officially.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: leaked specs?

Fake. Jeez at least the other fake specs I saw with Rev having dual core 3hz copper G5 were more believable. Didn't MoSys already unintentionally confirm that the Rev is going to have 512MBs of Main RAM?
