A lot of stuff sony showed was 2016 or later so that was disappointing.  Dreams--what the hell is this?  No Man's Sky still looking boring as hell so that really only left with some exclusive DLC news and Horizon, which was looking great but no date set has me thinking 2017.

Very little VITA news :(.  Really wanted Sega to bring Valkyrie Chronicles 3 to the NA at the very least :().

You can get $175 trade in deal at BestBuy for your old xbox 360 (250GB or better) and now with BC on the ONE there's not going be a reason to hold on to your old system.

Might need a bigger drive then 1TB though since all physical xbox 360 games have to be installed just like xbox one games.

-------------
Loved Sea of Thieves (Rare's new pirate multiplayer game) and some of that new VR tech stuff looked good as well.

Overall MS had a decent showing--better than the last couple of years that's for sure.  Most of the big AAA games were "expected" but MS stated they had more stuff to show off at gamecom so maybe we'll see more "orginal" titles there.

I think it'll chart well in the US.  Other than Witcher 3 and Puzzles and Dragon's, most of the stuff in May were re-releases like Borderlands GOTY, Shadows of Modor.

As for Japan sales, they were a bit higher than I figures but that could be do to "price factor" as well.  But as it stands now it's first week sales has it 3rd highest for the WII U behind MK8 and SSB if you don't count launch titles.  That means it's selling better than Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong, Xenoblade, Zelda, ect which is quite a big deal IMO for Nintendo.

If sales maintain "ever-green" like most Nintendo titles this might break 2+ million mark WW by year end which isn't to bad for a new IP.

Not sure what to make out of it, one hand getting more content later keeps the players interested but one the other hand, withholding content killed Splatoon's metacritic score.  Game could have easily been a 9.0 AAA title but certain moves on Nintendo's part has this "gamer" head shaking.

----------------------
Splatoon is selling quite nice around me, a few places have sold out while other ones are down to their last copy.  Hardware wise, the WII U continue to sit on shelves unmoved.

Nintendo really didn't play it's card right IMO, first off it gave BB the exclusive Splatoon/WII U bundle deal when I would have done a REAL bundle and include the three-amiibo splatton characters with physical game for $250.

5
I think the thing that's most misleading was the developer claimed to have the WII U version up and running back in 2012 when people started to pledge for the game.  I personally don't bother with kickstarters because of this type of BS but a lot of people were "lied" to IMO.

Even a refund at this point in time is a slap in the face.  3+ years interest free?  Hell, maybe I'll start my own kickstarter game. :()

Splatoon's first DLC stuff drops in a few hours: ranked Battle, new mode Splat Zones, one new map (for new mode?), and a weapons (zapper, from the nes).  http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/01/splatoon-gets-new-mode-map-and-nes-zapper

$60 for five maps and two modes with missing features is a bit steep IMO.  You might save face in Europe or Japan but in the NA market the game is retailing at full $60 day one. That's whole "free" DLC doesn't help much since it should already have been included like the ability to play with friends?  To be honest, I think Nintendo should have delayed the game or at least sell us what the game is currently worth--not something with "future" promises.

June 18, 2014, the day the Vita official died.  Sony is throwing in the towel and washing its hands with the poor little Vita.  Where did they go wrong?

1.  That whole memory card issue, pissed off more people at the gate which squandered the intial installer base.
2.  Relieved to much on third parties games but didn't keep an eye out for quality, I'm looking at you CoD and Asssassin's Creed,
3.  Should've tried harder to get the sequels to the games that fans wanted, namely God of War, GTA Stories, and Capcom's Monsterhunter.

Anyone unlock any of those gold karts?  I'm still pretty green but I did win a few races now.  I've been using xbl to make parties for MK8, much more enjoyable to hear those rage quitters.

Very disappointed with Sonic Boom.  First the gave Knuckles a big body but they made him stupid as well?  Then the voice cast was just awful.  Lastly, what's a Sonic game without speed, the 3d levels play painfully slow iom.

Here's the million dollar question--will this game have voicechat?  Nintendo stance on voicechat is going be the dealbreaker IMO.

Delays is what is killing the PS4.  Driveclub and Deep Down are still MIA and won't be released until 4th quarter.  Kingdom Hearts III release date is still in the air (Square is supposed to announce something at E3)  The Order and FFXV were pushed back until 2015 along with MGS5.

Really surprised at Sony, if I was them I would have pushed PS NOW (the ability to stream PS3 titles to ps4) and had a couple of "free" games ready to roll when MK8 and SSBM were released--namely Modnation and Playstation Allstar.
Right now MK8 is being released and Sony doesn't have anything to counter this with (in Japan anyhow, in the west we have Watchdogs).

Bravely Default--mostly to get villagers and summon friends which is kinda neat but I end up getting a bunch of low level guys :(.  Though I keep getting lvl 99 creatures raiding my village :( .

I have a long way to go in that game, I'm only at the third chapter.

There hasn't been an Paper Mario WII U game yet so I'm expecting to hear about it at E3 (most likely the Mario title for 2015).  X will finally get it's Xeno name-and I'm still betting it's going get delayed until 2015.

Besides Zelda and maybe Metroid there's only one other BIG Ace Nintendo has and that's a Pokémon game.  Think it's long overdue to see a proper console pokemon title.

"You don't get far in life by being a follower"

LOL how many people on this forum would consider me a follower?  You come hear one day and think you know me?  I never defended Neal nor do I ever care who he is and I can't say if I agree or disagree with a review of a game I never even played nor does Neal review stop me for getting excited about MK8 or canceling my preorder.

His review does exactly what it's meant to and I know exactly what to expect when I play MK8 for the first time.

"A few negative criticisms about captain neal and his review and every single member of this site wants to take a shot at me."

Which would say something about you since we normally don't play nice with each other.  NWR has every right to their opinion of a game and you saying it's a poor review just because you disagree with the score?

If you're an adult then maybe you should put on your big boy pants and start acting like it.

"I don't give games passes just becouse they are nintendo games. Your preconception of me is off track."

Yet a few post back you state NWR should have given MK8 a pass because they are an Nintendo fansite using Nintendo's name to promote their site and Nintendo really needs the sales.  Talk about your double standards.

"The game is amazing, easily the best mario kart in the series."  Maybe but that doesn't mean standards don't go up over the years as well.  Excluding battle mode and not having features that other games have (party chat, off-screen play for mp) means the game is still lacking in areas.

---------------------------------------

For all those bitching about the score, try reading the damn review first instead of focusing on the final score.  Neal made valid fooking points and it's an solid review.

Hopefully Nintendo can patch/update a few of these issues.  Really would love to have a party chat during the race and a few more battle mode too.  I mostly played races but every once in awhile I played "coins" mode on the Mario Kart WII.

Should a game lose points for not taking advantage of the Hardware (in this case the Gamepad) or have features (party chat) like other games in the genre?

That would be me--was planning on getting Pikmin 3 anyhow and now I get it for FREE--sweetness. :)

"If the Best Buy thing is like last year, then there is no point. It was in like 50 stores only"

Yeah, recall last years fubar when I went to one of those BB's that were listed just to find out it was an "mistake" and no demo was available :(.

Really thought Nintendo needed an E3 show this year myself, it has to showcase 3rd party support and it really needs an game that sells the whole idea of a gamepad.

"Fragile Dreams
Pandora Tower
Xenoblade Chronicles
The Last Story"

Didn't we have to kick and scream just to get those?  Nintendo was publishing one game per month yet the NA market only received 1/2 of them even though the NA had the majority of the sales--Zangeki comes screaming to mind.

And then there's 3rd titles that Nintendo loved talking about but ending up NEVER coming stateside like Dragon Quest X or Tales of Graces (I had to play the PS3 instead).  Wouldn't be much or an issue except Nintendo has Region LOCK on their consoles.

And Finally you have the systems overall features--mostly my complaint about online oversight.  No party chat?  Friend codes BS.  Games like SSB Brawl never getting patched to fix imbalances in classes.   It was just a kick in the nuts when 3rd party games on the WII had voice chat but 1st party games didn't.

I love Nintendo games but they really need to listen more to what both gamers and developers want and need.

« on: March 30, 2014, 05:55:58 AM »
There's to many issues with Kid Icarus to be my number 1.  Like others I found the ground battles dull and the controls caused hand cramps even though there's a better option out like like CCP but Nintendo decided not to support it.  Other gripe I had was the story was told while the game was in motion--meaning I needed an extra set of eyes to view everything :(.

There's plenty of games I haven't gotten around too like Zelda A Link Between Worlds (playing it now), Bravely Default (played the hell out of the demo but I haven't even unwrapped the game yet) so here's my list that I completed.

1.  Fire Emblem: Awakening (damn near perfect IMO)
2.  Super Mario 3D Land (my only gripe is it's to freaking short and easy)
3.  Mario Kart 7
4.  Mario and Luigi: Dream Team
5.  Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
6.  Resident Evil: Revelations
7.  Kid Icarus: Uprising
8.  Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (I'm an KH whore--I know it :( )

Played about a dozen more 3ds games but I can't recommend those ones like Paper Mario: Sticker Star or Project X Zone.

Yeah it's looks right.  Store credit and you only get it once the game is shipped I believe.  Like Rise I usually just buy a bunch of common items just to make sure I use it up before forgetting about it.

You still had an $1.30 left in your account :0.  Gold

Managed to get it to work--my order went in $64.80 - $35.60 (account credit) so $30 for MK8.  Blue shells for everyone :0.
