Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 578: Perfect Substitute

I felt Blaster Master Zero had some good use for HD rumble. For example, jumping out of water for example is much different feeling than the different gun shots.

Love the show but couldnt disagree more with your assessments of mega man 9 and 10. You guys seem to be really wrapped up in the mechanics of the game- no slide, no charge... but you missed the forest for the trees with 9. 9 for the first time in the classic series gave each robot master's powers something to actually do besides be short cuts for boss fights for example. I get it, you dont like that they went 8 bit but to pretend nothing new was added beyond a gender...

I prefered demon's souls to dark souls myself.

Sorry I have to be that guy but in order to save the sanctity of Fire Emblem warriors... You CAN heal using Lissa or Elise. You have to hold I believe ZR to bring up the menu and if they have a staff you can heal other characters but not yourself. You can also equip Vulneries and heal that way.

Great Episode Guys!

To be the devil's advocate...weren't you guys back 100 episodes ago complaining about how some games do not evolve and yet breath of the wild has many new elements and suddenly I hear - 'A link between worlds isnt a real Zelda' and 'don't add crafting to my Zelda games'? Open world game design is a fad these days in gaming but isnt that a path of evolution that the series should take? Wasn't openness a thing for Zelda from the very start before being somewhat forgotten with Ocarina?

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 185: Pink My Ride

Hey - sorry if you didn't enjoy the show. I can assure we all love Nintendo and our criticisms come from a place of affection. I know we all talked lovingly about Kirby, but I guess the listener mail went to some dark places. Send some happy listener mail in and maybe you can affect change in future episodes.

Ironically, I don't want to sound completely negative myself and i must say, I really enjoyed the segment on Kirby. I will take you up on your offer to send in some user mail. I don't expect it to be rainbows and kittens all the time but It just seemed to be more negative and down on the big N overall.

More negativity. Gay jokes… Saying they shouldn’t even bother releasing a game on wii u because its not worth it - on a Nintendo podcast…  the first bit of this show was hard for me to listen to… That said, the Kirby segment- I have to say I enjoy the Kirby's adventure series (Adventure, super star, etc). Recently, I have never played Kirby's Dreamland 2 when it came out on the gameboy. I am working my way through it now on the 3ds and that is much more challenging than I thought it would be.
I don’t understand why its confusing for people on controllers. Someone mentioned having their  precious clean ps4 next to their 'convoluted mess' of wii items.  I suggest you put the controllers and such in a drawer or organizer. I put my controllers for my living room consoles in a basket. If I need a numbchuck, I grab it use It and put it away after the game.Honestly though, I lost interest after the continued complaining about Nintendo in a Nintendo podcast. Maybe I will listen again next time but if it just continues, perhaps I will find another cast that is more positive.

The last game I have completed lately was Megaman 10. I am a big fan of the series and I have completed this game once before, when it first came out. Here are some jumbled and random opinions-The music is pretty good as always. I think its better than Megaman 7's soundtrack but not as good as 9. Gameplay I love how the playable characters have different strengths and weaknesses. I stick to Megaman mostly but playing the others is fun. One thing I want to note is that I felt the robot master's weapons were somewhat hard to use. Triple blade is great but its angles change during a jump so you have to account for that. Electric wool is this game's top spin as far as difficult to use weapons go. Playing with wii remote sideways made things challenging because my big hands kept hitting the trigger which in this game switches your items like mega man x.

Minor Spoiler- This game had an amazing boss however. The robot master archives- the reoccurring boss in the first Wily stage. You fought a computer that had access to various robot master's special weapons and fight patterns from other games in the classic series. Fan favorites such as elec man and slash man appear. Characters like slash man and Frost man from mega man 7 and 8 had sprite graphics for them which American fans may not have seen before.

I changed my opinion of this game having played it again. It was one of my lower ranked Mega man titles however I think I will place it mid way. My new order of favorite to least- 9,3,2,8,5,10,1,4,6,7, megaman & bass.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 436: Federation Farce
« on: July 20, 2015, 11:24:11 AM »
Personally, and this is an unpopular opinion to be sure but, I feel as though there is nothing wrong with federation force.  I have had many arguments with people over this and actually agree with what Reggie said in that this is a similar situation to what happened with the wind waker.  Metroid fans flipped out because its not the realistic metroid game they were looking for.  The fact that metroid is getting a spinoff should be a good enough sign that nintendo intends on continuing with metroid.

However this outrage… This outrage made me realize that metroid fans have a persecution complex. Thing is, the game is a harmless spinoff made by people with a good reputation using a different part of the universe that the game is set in. The parallels Reggie and I talk about in regards to metroid vs zelda are in that the fans expected something that nintendo did not give them and whined. One thing that people seem to forget is that when the game came out (wind waker),  people liked it. We never said it was exactly the same situation but we should give it a chance.

This is a different game in the universe starring different people that live differently than Samus. The expansion of a known franchise's universe is only a good thing because they could use that experience as a good way to expand story telling. People that are set in their ways may not understand the potential benefits in having the universe shown from different view points because they are scared that their little view of what is could be disrupted without even giving it a chance.

Finally, Retro themselves are not working on it. The kneejerk reaction to this side story created by a completely different team is laughable and metroid fans should be ashamed.
