Mafia LXXV - The Legend of Zelda: The Mafia Maracas. Day 1.

Story

Quote
The King of Hyrule entered the great library of Hyrule Castle.

"Ah, there you are Zelda, my dear. I've been looking all over for you," the King said on seeing the familiar figure of his daughter standing by a mirror adjusting her gown.

"Huh? Oh, whoops, sorry, no," said the figure turning around and then blushing on seeing the King staring at him.

"Link," the King said flatly upon realizing who he was actually looking at, "Do you know where Zelda is?"

"I'm here," declared a voice from behind a bookshelf which belonged to Princess Zelda. The King turned to the direction of the voice and saw Zelda come into view as she walked out from the book aisle she had been standing in. The King walked over to her.

"Is he still wearing that Zelda outfit?" asked the King, his voice a bit troubled.

"Afraid so. Ever since he went on that quest to Hytopia and met those two dopplegangers. He says it makes him feel safer, whatever that means," sighed Zelda. The sight of Link wearing the legendary dress and being mistaken for Zelda was growing to be a way too often occurrence of late.

Suddenly there was a scream from Link's direction. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! A SPIDER!" he cried and then ran out of the library at full speed. The King of Hyrule stood aghast at the sight while Zelda put her hand to forehead and rubbed it in frustration.

"I don't know what's happened to his courage," Zelda confessed.

"Perhaps he's been cooped up in this castle too long," suggested the King as he got his mind back to the matter at hand, "He may be missing some adventure in his life and it's causing this stir-craziness we are seeing."

"Hey! You may be onto something," exclaimed Zelda, her face brightening, "You're right! There hasn't been much for him to do lately or to challenge him. I'm going to check through the ancient legends of the land and see if there isn't some kind of quest he could engage in."

And so it was that in Zelda's search, she discovered the story an ancient set of the EarthFrog, a magical creature that would bestow any who approached it to be filled with courage as well as grant them a wish. However, since there would be those who would desire the EarthFrog's power for themselves, the EarthFrog slumbered hidden in a deep cave somewhere in Hyrule. The only way to awaken it was by playing the song of the EarthFrog with the Magical Maracas of Merida. To Princess Zelda, it appeared to be the perfect quest needed to awaken Link out of his stay-at-home-stupor.

"But I don't want to goooooooo," whined Link upon being told the news.

"Well, too bad. If you want to stay in the castle, you need to start earning your keep," Zelda declared.

"But it's soooooo pointless. No one else knows about this frog dude, there's no danger to the land and there's nothing we need to wish for. Plus, there's the fancy dress ball coming up and I was really looking forward to that," pouted Link.

"Nothing we need to wish for?" asked Zelda in disbelief as she finished packing Link's luggage, "Are you joking? Ganon could appear at any moment again and try once more to conquer Hyrule and plunge us all into darkness. With this wish, you could ensure that never happens and Ganon is never a threat again!"

"Well, at least let me pack along my legendary dress outfit," begged Link as Zelda dragged him to the castle entrance.

"Nope. Don't need it," Zelda quickly said as she raised the drawbridge to keep Link from re-entering the castle, "Have fun!"

"Fine. Let's go find some dumb maracas," groused Link as he got on his trusty steed, Epona, and set off into new strange regions of Hyrule.

It dawns on me what this Cucco wants and I gently place the subjects on my person in a napsack and I quickly flee from Hyrule Field exclaiming Cuccos are not allowed in my kingdom.

I would also like to point out that some of the roles in the game make it hard to vote someone out without worrying about the fallout of it. Oh goodness!   In addition to that there is kinda a rush to vote out one player so that player doesn't complete their win condition so it may be hard to maneuver between those players and find the badguys. Oh dear!!

Someone has stolen the seeds out of my maracas again! They've been scattered all across the forums! If you find any and give them to me, I can increase one of your stashes, such as your vote stash or post stash. I was somehow able to fit 900 seeds into these maracas, which is pretty miraculous, shaka!

I have a suspicion on who had stolen them!

This is going to be really difficult considering we can't draw on player performance whatsoever. Makes things interesting but potentially much easier for the mafia to get by without much hindrance.

No vote yet

The detective work is figuring out who each person really is...

On that subject, one of the ways a player can be eligible to win prizes at the end of the game without winning is by being able to (or coming closest to) figuring out the identities of who is who in this game but I'll have to give some more details on that in awhile.

I haven't gathered out enough information today yet. I have some ideas, but I want to see how players act. I need to read up on the rules and maybe I'll find a way to figure who I can trust.

I'm also reading everyone's sentence structures. People are disguising themselves as characters, which should make it difficult to determine who people are. Actions, however might give people away. I play this game fairly sporadically though. So, I'm not really an expert on peoples gaming habits or how they have evolved their gaming habits.

Day 1 Vote Tally:

The King of Red Lions - 3
Hestu - 2
Dark Link - 1
Happy Mask Salesman - 1

However, during the day, a Spirit Flute was played causing a Cucco to change it's vote from The King of Red Lions to the Happy Mask Salesman.

That means we have a 3-way tie of The King of Red Lions, Hestu and Happy Mask Salesman at 2 votes each. It also means I need to post some rules about what happens in the case of ties.....

So, what does happen? Well, as long as the player with the Spirit Flute is alive, that player is responsible for breaking the tie. They will send me a pm during the night action phase of who they want to see eliminated. If no pm is sent during the night action phase OR they send me a pm that they do not want to break the tie then no one will be eliminated. The Spirit Flute is able to calm everyone down.

However, if the player with the Spirit Flute is eliminated from the game then there will be a tie-breaking period. If the tie is not resolved in that period then one of the remaining players will be selected at random as the Day Vote majority except for any of the players tied at the end of the Day's Vote. They would become immune. It's up to the player's to break the tie and save themselves. If they can't do it then they must face the possibility of being eliminated for their failure.

At this point, we enter the Night Action phase. The Night Action phase in this game will have a maximum of 12 hours for players to get their orders in. If all orders are submitted before the 12 hours are up then the Night Action phase can end earlier. Once I get the last order in then I'll wait an hour in case anyone changes their mind last minute. If no changes occur, I'm going to move on to starting the next day.

If you have a role but you don't plan or want to use it that night (say the Bomber doesn't want to blow themself and two other players up tonight) then please send me a pm stating you choose not to use your role or something on those lines. Otherwise, I will keep waiting for a possible order from any players with a role.
