Nintendo Download - August 30, 2012
« on: August 30, 2012, 05:24:05 PM »

Race through tunnels, collect eggs, and tap along to classic Final Fantasy music in this week's crop of downloads.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/31485

This week's Nintendo Downloads brings some of everything, from 3DS eShop titles to Virtual Console to DSiWare and a demo.

3DS eShop Games:

SpeedX 3D - $3.99
Race through endless tunnels with hypnotic graphics and electronic music. A first-person view and 3D effects immerse the player in the game world. Play through four game modes, including an endless mode that lets you see how far you can go without losing concentration.

Outdoors Unleashed: Africa 3D - $3.99
Experience 35 missions of arcade hunting excitement, taking on over 15 different animals. Use over 30 weapons and hunting accessories to fight for high scores and take down the big game.

Virtual Console:

Toki Tori - $3.99
In this Game Boy Color classic, you play the role of Toki Tori, a yellow chicken tasked with rescuing his kidnapped brothers' and sisters' eggs. Using various power-ups, you navigate trap-filled levels to collect the eggs before time runs out.

DSiWare Games:

Escape the Virus: Shoot'em Up - $1.99
Take on hordes of vicious viruses in two different modes, including a shooter mode and a territory mode where you protect certain zones and keep them clear of enemies. Take advantage of bonus items and power-ups to take down the viruses.

3DS Demos:

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
Tap and slide your stylus to the rhythm of music from the Final Fantasy series. Our Nate Andrews gave the game a 9, so if you haven't already bought the game you should check out the demo to see what all the fuss is about.

Of course the demo for TFF would finally  be released right after demand for the game seemingly skyrockets and the price is raised to 50 dollars in many places... Oh well.

I played the 2 songs that the demo comes with repeatedly for half an hour straight, I'm in love!

Apparently the Square Tax increases over time?

Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Okkkk, started the video Outdoors Unleashed to be immediately greeted with running down and shooting elephants...decided it wasn't for me.
I got hooked on the white stuff back in the 70s.

$4 seems like a pretty good price for SpeedX. It looks fairly shallow but for that price I'll probably end up getting it.

Anyone else notice that the Theatrhythm demo has "unlimited" uses?

*pulls out his Nightstick and starts nonchalantly rapping it against his palm*

You say that like there's a problem with the FF XIII soundtrack.  ;)

I'm actually quite fond of that OST.  It's probably one of the more underrated soundtracks, as is FF 8's so it's fitting that the demo would include songs from both.  It's just a pity that FF 8 is one of the most underrepresented games in Theatrhythm, as it's had barely any (if any at all) DLC songs and some of the most notable tracks in that game aren't on the card by default.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

It didn't look like a badly made game considering the price and genre... but I had the exact same reaction.

This is 10% speculation and 90% wishful thinking, but could the release of the Theatrythm demo mean that the game will soon be available as the first third party downloadable retail game?

I'd put that more in 99.9% wishful thinking.
