« on: April 21, 2006, 10:10:44 AM »
I thought it would be good to make a list of all known Revolution games now that information is coming out.  Not Rumors, but actual known games.

Smash Brothers Revolution
Mario Revolution
Metroid Prime 3
Animal Crossing Revolution
Tony Hawk Downhill
Sponge Bob Square Pants
Dragonball Z
Nights
Hudson Flight Game
(3 EA Titles)
Red Steel

What else is there?  This is a pretty strong list already.

Nintendo Gaming / Hunter Controls
« on: March 22, 2006, 04:28:01 AM »
I just picked up Metroid Prime Hunters.  I played around the game and have been really enjoying the experience.  WIFI is surprisingly smooth and only once did I have any issues with smooth gameplay.

The question I have is what controls are everyone using.  Because I am trying to find the best, and I am having a difficult time jumping, switch forms and weapons.

Right now I am using the thumbstrap, sensitivity level 8 or 9.  And regular default controls.

I find it easier to change forms and such with the stylus, but then I can't fire or anything.

What are your settings and what are your thoughts on the controls?

Ok.

Here is the game.  List three people...then next poster will decide which of those people they will befriend for life, throw off a cliff, and have sex with.

Example:

George Bush, Dick Chaney, Bill Clinton

I would umm...

Have sex with Bill, because he probably knows what he is doing.
Befriend Bush...so atleast he will never go to war with me.
Throw Dick Chaney off a cliff, because everybody hates him.

Alright.

First up:

ALF, ET, or a Wookee

With the special features and functions of the controller...how long until the Chinese (or any) porn industry makes unlicensed products for the game using a special modified controller?

(Umm...I don't think this is too overboard...but it could get overboard.)

General Chat / Heroclixers Unite
« on: November 11, 2005, 09:30:42 AM »
So anyone here a comicbook fan or a minature games fan?

I have gotten into Heroclix, and I wish a video game would be created of it.

Anyway, it basically a game where you battle Superheros in good ole Turn based fashion, and it would make a great Advanced Wars type game, or something.

Yeah,

Anyway...

what do you guys think.

SPOON!!!

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Baseball and Geist Demos in stores now.
« on: August 01, 2005, 05:46:40 AM »
The Demo kiosks now have Mario Baseball and Geist...or atleast some of them do, because in Arlington, Texas I ran into one.

Mario Baseball was alot of fun, which was surprising because I just didn't know how you could turn Mario into a good Baseball game.  Well I was wrong, Its a great Baseball game.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendogs Demo Version out at kiosks
« on: August 01, 2005, 05:44:33 AM »
The Nintendogs Demo Version is available at some demo kiosks to try out.  You can't name the dogs just play with them...it was pretty cute.  Nintendogs is basically the most perfected virtual pet game out there.  Its amazing what you can do, and the virtual intelligence in these dogs.

Also out in stores is a demo version of Mario Baseball and Geist.  Mario Baseball was pretty cool, and I thought had huge promise for some wacky Baseball...which I never thought would be playable.

Nintendo Gaming / Your Perfect E3 Conference
« on: May 10, 2005, 07:37:41 PM »
Ok.  Here is the question.  What do you want Nintendo show for their pre E3 Show.  How do you want the conference to go?  What is the feel you want the conference to take?

Here is mine.

I want Nintendo's conference to be focused on the future of Nintendo and the myths that people have about Nintendo.

Starting with the Gamecube I want Nintendo to focus its conference on gaming for older market.  How Nintendo is a system for the older market.  Talk about the games Zelda, Giest, and Fire Emblem.  Don't just show video while someone talks, but have someone playing the game while the speaker is talking, and have him incorporate occassionally the video images with the speech.  At the end of speech transition into the DS and what future DS games can be enjoyed by older market gamers.  Really focus on changing the image of Nintendo.

Second break the myth of Nintendo no supporting online gaming.  Bring out the guns with the DS and have a DS Hotspot brought into the conference room.  Give away a few DS prices and then allow those people among others to play new DS online games that they downloaded from the Hotspot.  These are sample versions of other games coming out.  Again talk about the future of Nintendo and online gaming.  Present DS games that will take full advantage of this in video form while also showing someone playing the DS with the media.  Tranisition into speaking about the Revolution and the online plans for the revolution.

Near the end of talking about Revolution online support, bring the lights down and crank one huge presentation video of games coming out for Revolution.  Spot light not only Nintendo games, but also 3rd party games coming out for the Revolution.

Bring lights up and continue talking about the future plans of revolution.  Finally tell the media that "We have one last surprise for all of you."  The Nintendo gamecube demos shown early weren't played on the Gamecube, but was played on this.  (Pulls a curtan away from the Revolution console  (They don't have to show the controller.))

Allow media pictures and brochures of the Revolution and game stills.

Nintendo Gaming / Unofficial Polarium Thread
« on: April 25, 2005, 10:13:16 AM »
So I just realized there isn't a Polarium thread and there really should be.

Since you can create your own puzzles and upload them online using codes we should use this thread as a sort of community for Polarium players.

I am pleasantly surprised by this game and I really think its a blast to play.  The puzzles are challenging (I have solved 45 of them) and the challenge mode is a fun twist on the game.  It makes you think fast, and react.  It is definately a thinking man's action puzzler, because if you make the wrong move then its game over man.

So what do you guys think of the game?  Have you made any custom puzzles yet?

General Chat / Can someone Help Me with some Nintendo Research
« on: April 18, 2005, 04:23:38 PM »
Hey I am writing a persuasive (sp) speech on Nintendo, and why you should support them instead the compitition this generation and into next generation.

Does anyone know some good websites about Nintendos history, their exclusive games, their innovations over the years, and such.

My three main points for why you should support Nintendo are:

Exclusive Nintendo games.

Nintendo's reputation as an innovator in gaming.

Finally, Nintendo's options such as portable gaming and such.

Any good sites would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Nintendo Gaming / Star Wars Episode 3 DS
« on: April 14, 2005, 05:10:03 AM »
What do you guys think of the new Star Wars 3 screenshots?

The 3D engine is simple, but I like the stylized look.  It reminds me of the cartoon, mixed with alittle oldschool gaming.  The explosions looked cool.  All in all if they can get the engine to run smooth it could be awesome.

Now, the sidescrolling aspects I am worried about.  One of my favorite games is oldschool Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade, and if its done cool like that then the sidescrolling levels can be awesome.

If not, then I am afraid it won't be.

My biggest fears is that sidescrolling beat'em ups get boring single player.  Multiplayer really enhances the entire experience.

Oh, and lets hope we get some single cart multiplayer deathmatch space fighting.

I have two questions, for all you Super Mario 64 DS players.

1)How many of the minigames have you opened, and what are the requirements to unlock them?

I am speculating that the rabbits keep reappearing outside after you obtain a certain number of stars and are outside with the right character to catch them, but I am not sure if thats how it really works or not.

2)The Fourth character door in Princess Peach's room...who is that for?  I am speculating its a hidden character that you either get after collecting all the stars or beat the game the first time.  But whom is the hidden character?  What are your best guesses?

My best guess would be Princess Peach because after you beat the game you would have saved her.  She would also be a very interesting character to control in 3D with her float jump manuever and therefore could be very different from the others.

However, it could also be something very cool and crazy like throwing in WALUIGI or Toad.  A unique character with totally new play mechanics very explored before.

What are your thoughts?

Nintendo Gaming / Mario 64 DS reviews
« on: November 22, 2004, 04:18:58 AM »
Ok.

We have all read the Mario 64 DS reviews, and we all know that this is a great game that is slightly flawed by no true analog control, via a control stick.  However, why do we think it is flawed?  Because of our memory of the original Mario 64.

I would like to challenge people to play the game and try to forget Mario 64.  Try to forget that the game is a port.  Play the game and enjoy it, then review the game as if it was an original and not a port.

I would bet that if you do that you will find your opinions of the game drastically different.

I haven't played Mario 64 in years.  So remembering the game and every little nuisance of the control isn't a problem for me.  I will admit that Mario DS isn't perfect in design, but it is far better than reviewers are letting on.   They are letting the memory of another game get in the way.

I have question for you.  When you review Halo 2 do you consider the controls of Halo and compare how Halo 2 stacks up to the original?  I think the original controlled much easier.  You didn't have to worry about so many different actions that are mapped to every button.

Or when you review Resident Evil Remake for Gamecube did you consider the control of the original Resident Evil on the review?  Perhaps the Gamecube game controls are too good, taking some of the tension away with adding quick turn arounds and such.

Basically, I challenge people to play Mario 64 DS, and come here and write your review not comparing it to the N64 game, but reviewing it on its own merit alone.

After I get further in the game I will do that.

Nintendo Gaming / Sunday couldn't come sooner (But who will know about it)
« on: November 17, 2004, 03:40:38 AM »
So, the big launch date is coming very soon.  4-5 days depending on if you count Wednesday?

Many of us are already ready to go.  We know exactly what game/s we want to purchase with the system and accessories we think are needed to go with our purchase.  Most importantly we have a preorder because the number of units available may be limited.

The question is though, where is the buzz?  Where is the feeling of excitement for this system?  Outside of the game sites and game magizines does anybody really know that a new system is launching?  It just feels dead out there.

I feel I wasted time preordering, because I will most likely be able to go to Walmart at midnight and pick up a system without any problem.  As it is now, I am going to have to wait till Sunday after church to pick up the system.  Another couple hours waiting for it to charge and then FINALLY I can play it.

No place that I know is offering that midnight celebration for the launch.  Nobody I know unless I have told them about it even knows about the system.

Nintendo has dropped the ball in hyping this system, and they may sellout of product and games, but I feel very little excitement about the whole thing (except my personal excitement.)

Hopefully this will change soon.

What do you guys think?  Have you felt more hype or excitement than me, or do you feel this is like a sleeper system release?

Nintendo Gaming / Your Impressions of the Nintendo DS Demo
« on: November 12, 2004, 03:14:52 AM »
In honor of Chain Chomp, many of us probably went searching for our own DS experience yesterday.  I would like to hear from all of you on what you think of the demo units, the Metroid Hunters Demo, PictoChat and whatnot.  Here is what I think.

Arriving at Gamestop I walked into the store not expecting to find it.  However tucked close to the rear of the store I found the demo setup with two Nintendo DS systems.  Surprisingly nobody was playing either of them.  This was probably because Pictochat was the functioning demo.

I played around with Pictochat and could hear the dings when my message was sent to the other DS next to it.  For some odd reason pictochat is really cool.  The only downside is the limited drawing space you have within the messages you send.  Still I am going to have fun sending picture stories to people.

Next I turned off both units hoping to find Metroid Hunters to play.  I did, and I quickly asked if anybody would play me.  One of the employees became my opponent.  Hunters was amazingly fast, and the battle was truly intense.

A few things I noticed about Hunters.

1)Rapid fire is pretty hard to achieve tapping L.  Sometimes I was able to get a long burst of fire, other times it was just a few bullets.  And there was no chargeshot, which I thought would have made the game alittle more strategic.

2)Don't expect to be able to use the map and move around at the sametime.  The stylus gets in your way.  I personally liked this because it made you take attention off your defense to find your opponent.  I am sure many others will hate this.  Also it isn't completely intuative to tap to open your missles for attack.  It isn't unintative, but it just like looking at the map it takes a second or two and can really cause some damage to occur to you.

3)It is very easy to lose sight of the other player in this game.  Even when they are still on the screen with you.  It may just be me getting used to the stylus to search, but often I lost my opponent completely.

In the end, we tied the match 3 kills to 3 kills.  I think the experience will just get better with 3-4 players.

Next, I went into the single player demo.  Yeah, there really isn't much there.  Running around the first option (Can't remember what it is called) was cool.  However, it felt empty.  There was nothing to connect me into the world or the experience.  The control however feels much better in single player.  I guess because you aren't in the midst of a giant battle with a human that you can't predict.  The end of the demo features a pretty intense battle with another Samus.  She isn't hard to kill, but she also isn't easy.

The Morphball exercise was the demo I played the most because I was determined to beat it.  It was a fun race throughout the level within the morphball.  Here the stylus acts like analog control and can help you speed through the level, which is pretty tricky and will require several tries to master.  I enjoyed the experience.  But, I couldn't figure out how to use the morphball boost.  Perhaps next time.

After this I turned the system off again, and then when into the menu mode.  There are tons of cool little features to customize and personalize your DS.  The menu system is icons that for better or worse work, but really don't explain themselves.  Why not give words underneath to tell what you are selecting?  I made my way through all the icons just seeing what they do.  I was able to:

1)Change the name of the DS to: Tanuki
2)Leave me a message, but I thought I was naming the system when I did that.
3)Change the DS menu colors to my favorite color.
4)Setup my Birthday.

I didn't go to change the date or calender.

I am very impressed with the demo Nintendo has out.  It is great to be able to play verse people in the store, and no features were locked out.  I could access everything the DS had to offer.  The Touch Screen is very accurate and sensitive which is very cool because I experienced some very bad touch screen systems.

I really can't wait for this system to come out, and if you have it reserved go out and play it. It will just excite you more.

Nintendo Gaming / IGN's Possible early Launch Story
« on: November 11, 2004, 07:27:12 AM »
Hey.

As fellow internet surfers, and NintendoDS fans I am sure you have been to IGN's DS site and have read the story on a possible early launch as soon as the 15th.

They reported  as their source 2 facts:

1)Nintendo is already shipping units and preparing their warehouses to ship more units to stores everywhere to perpare for launch.

2)Gamestop e-mailing some reservation holders and mentioning a move to launch to the 15th...or possible move of launch I don't remember the wording.

Well, I have my copy reserved at a Texas Gamestop and I didn't get such an e-mail...and I wonder if anybody really did.

Have you guys heard anything about this from either where you work if you work retail, your reservation store, or even if you are one of the Gamestop reservations that got an e-mail.

This too me seems like a smart idea.  They can launch early unadvertised and start a buzz and have the second shipment of DS systems for the scheduled date of release.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo DS Launch Survey
« on: October 20, 2004, 08:09:33 AM »
I got a few questions for this group, to see where everyone is at.

1)Now that we know the launch titles are you going to buy the system at launch, or later this year, or next year after more games are available?

2)If you are buying at launch, how many and what games are you hoping to buy?

3)If you are waiting, why are you waiting?

4)Last, Is there a game that could have been available at launch or is a game that is available that persuaded you to buy the system?

Nintendo Gaming / NINTENDO DS A PRIMARY SYSTEM???
« on: July 29, 2004, 07:28:41 AM »
As an older gamer I have noticed I am playing less games at home.  Actually I am watching less television, movies, and on the computer less.  However, I did notice I am playing my GBA more and more.

With the potential of the Nintendo DS I am actually considering making the new "3rd pillar" my primary game system, while picking up one or two games for the Gamecube that I may need.

Does anybody else find themselves thinking in a similar fashion?

Could the DS and even later the PSP become the new primary game systems for a large audience of players?

I think it would be harder for the Nintendo system, but they could make adapters to play the system on the television.  (With the DS one screen could be shown on the television and one on the portable.)

I have always believed the next big step into gaming is to create a portable system powerful enough to dock into a unit and be the home console.  Then you could have one system for both purposes.
