Lastly, I have some reason to believe that Silicon Knights ('Eternal Darkness', 'Too Human') may be working on a Wii title. This is slightly going out on a limb here. But, like I said, I have some reason to believe so.
Have they released Too Human yet? We all know that they take so long on finishing one game, that maybe they should just concentrate on one console and one game at a time. Its good that they are planning on supporting Wii2, but any game announced from them is not likely to be playable for years to come.

Ya they released the first of three.

I would love for an ED2 with motion+ but that'll never happen. Ever.

I doubt Too Human will really become a trilogy but hey, if they want to hit their head thrice on the same wall...

Why plan on a trilogy unless you can get 100% promised funding for a trilogy.  Instead why not just go for a good sequel to finish the story.

After playing through the first chapter I don't think I want to play the 2nd chapter until it's 20 dollars.

Too Human didn't take 10 years to complete.

Silicon Knights is a slow developer, but the TH world is set. Unless they plan on revamping the story again or starting from scratch, a sequel should be out sooner rather than later.

It comes down to priorities. SK supposedly has 3 titles in the works: Too Human 2, a untitled project to be published by Sega, and a rumored Wii game. Since they've traditionally had trouble working on more than 1 title at a time, completing the Too Human series would be the best idea considering the parts SK obsess over are/should be finished (characters/plot). I want Eternal Darkness 2 as much as the next person, but unless Dennis Dyack plans on hiring more people or has learned some time management skills, they're better off finishing whatever is furthest along which is likely Too Human 2.

=\

If he considers recycling GameCube assets from Eternal Darkness, then I'd say ED2 is much further along.

Well, how did Too Human do sales-wise?  (in the chance that MS doesn't finance the sequels...)

Not absolutely terrible but not terribly great either if I remember correctly, but then again, Eternal Darkness didn't do too hot and SK is still considering a sequel. So I don't think sales are really stopping Dyack and co. He seems more a storyteller at heart so he'll probably find a way finish Too Human with or without Microsoft.

Well who exactly owns the rights on Too Human?  Because I know Ninty owns Eternal Darkness, so if SK wanted to do a sequel they'd have to get Ninty's permission first...

If I recall correctly TH started out as a PSone game. Then, while working on ED for the N64 they decided to move it and TH to the GC. It was apparently going to be the next SK game on the system. Then after they stopped making games for Nintendo TH was moved to the 360 and was released in 2008. So assuming development and planning started in 1997-98 it did take around 10 years to complete.

I guess it really depends on how you define 10 years because there are several gaps in development, not to mention how many times Silicon Knights restarted development. A simple google search yields a very different Too Human on PS1, notably no Norse Mythology whatsoever. The gravity concept in Super Mario Galaxy dates back to Spaceworld 2000 at the earliest, do we consider it taking almost 10 years to complete?

In Galaxy's case, I wouldn't.  The concept was there, but I won't agree there was an end-product in mind.

As much as I enjoyed Eternal Darkness, I really don't want another game from Dyack until he changes his attitude.

UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR

Nintendo's first-party Wii software lineup will be worthwhile in 2009.

2008 was a weak year because Nintendo shot its load early in 2007, because otherwise people would have been bitching that 2007 was a weak year and that would be really bad because that was the critical first year of the console's life where everything mattered. By 2008 Nintendo didn't really have anything else in the pipeline, but it didn't matter so much since old games like Wii Play and Mario and so forth are still MEGA sellers.

But yeah, I have to agree with Halbred that 2009 is going to be much better. This is probably also going to be the year where quality 3rd party support finally shows up in full force.
