Probably some of the first games I ever remember playing areeeee:

An old Vic20 game called 'Shamus', it kicked ass. I heard they were making a new one for GBC, I don't know how that went.
Dark Towers or something like that, I dunno, it just played this hilarious tune while you try to guide this egg-shaped guy that got goo-ified whenever he touched something bad.
Pac Man and Ms Pac Man. YES!
Mail Order Monsters. That game kicked ass, you created monsters and uh, battled them.
This one where you scroll this screen back and forth and destroy space ships attacking some base or something. I think you shot either huge red or blue asteroids and had to lead targets.

All of these were either on the Vic20 or Commodore64. I doubt any of my stuff works anymore

First game: Super Mario Bros 3

First adventure game: Legend of Zelda: LTTP

First RPG: Earthbound

First fighter: Street Fighter II

First racer: Super Mario Kart

First action game: Mega Man 3
If the graphics are bad, I'll ignore them.
If the style's been used before, I won't care. I don't get sick of styles.
If the story is weak, I'll make up my own.
I only care about gameplay.

Yeah, it's a long story.  Basically:

- I thought the old 8-bit RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons looked boring.  So I never tried them.

- I went to college and totally skipped the 1990s gaming scene.

- I saw the Final Fantasy 10 on TV and thought, 'Wow, that looks cool' and went out to buy a PS2 just to play that game.

- So FF10 was my first.  I've played many, many RPGs since then... mainly because of the story.

That's one of my favorite PC games ever.

To all those people who like monkey island/maniac mansion style of games, I suggest trying to play the original Hero's Quest.  Its a very cool game with more of an RPG flare but it still has that, you can try and do anything to anything sort of feel.  I miss that came.  It was the first pc game I ever really played.  Then came the monkey islands.  I still remember calling that damn hint line they advertised on the game cause I couldn't get past the spitting part.  Boy, I don't even remember which monkey island that was in.

Pale Zero, I played and finished Hero's Quest.  It took me over a year, but I did it.  If an apple counts as a PC, I guess that my first PC Game would be Mario Bros on an Apple IIe.

If an Apple doesn't count, I guess my first PC game would be Sid Meire's F-19 on my good old 286.

I forgot, my first RPG, barring Zelda, was Ultima Exous on the NES.  God only knows how many hours i spent in that game.  It was incredible.  A huge game that i never finished, although i think i was at the end.
