I don't think Nitro Online is Warp Pipe's doing.
Warp Pipe Technologies is currently working on the DeMasked service.

Well, you'll need a WiFi bridge for your LAN (e.g. wireless router or WiFi card for the PC) and a PC. I'll just assume you have an internet connection already.

So what's the word on the DS online anyways?

I know that Warp Pipe, Xlink, Nitro and others are working on "Tunneling" methods for online but what about nintendo, does nintendo actually have its own plan to go online with the DS, and how is it expected to work, right now the DS doesn't seem capable of detecting wireless networks even though its supposed to have Wi-fi capability.

well i had assummed this was the warp pipe people because the link on the article takes you to the warp pipe forums, but i guess that doesn't mean that this is warp pipe's tinkering. allthough has anyone noticed the logo on the top of the warp pipe forums? 1,2.

Here's some info on Demasked I've been able to uncover from the Warp Pipe forums.
All of this has been confirmed by Chad Paulson, the Warp Pipe project manager.

Make of this what you will.

  • Demasked is not tunneling.
  • Expect to see Demasked commercials in the future.
  • "Demasked will only cost $149.99, for which to buy your Nintendo DS." (Meaning It'll be free! )
  • "Instead of Xlink being Demasked's rival, Microsoft is the new target."

    Double loves speculation time. =)

Demasked is the only service that is in conjunction with Nintendo right?

It's not been confirmed, and I don't like jumping to conclusions, but I do expect Nintendo to be assisting Warp Pipe Technologies in the development of the Demasked service.

Someone's gotta be paying for those commercials.

Hmm if those recent demasked rumors are true, I am back to being semi excited about the project.  TV comercials are always good.

I've heard this rumor too, but I'm yet to find any confirmation on it.
