General Chat / Spirited Away CD Covers...help?
« on: June 17, 2003, 05:34:25 AM »
yes, go to amazon.com and they will send you the cover for the low price of $15.  And they'll even throw in a legit copy of the CD for free in addition to the CD cover.

Come on, Spirited Away has a legitimate american released OST, just buy that.

General Chat / Anime - Japanese vs English
« on: May 25, 2003, 07:09:22 PM »
Disney has done a great job with the english releases of the ghibli films.  The dubs are fantastic.

before anyone downs them for not having more out...

keep in mind the contract states disney can't put out the DVD release in the USA till they do in Japan.  DIsney went toe-to-toe with Ghibli with princess mononoke to get the japanese language track on the DVD, because it was against the origional contract.

General Chat / Anime - Japanese vs English
« on: May 25, 2003, 05:37:27 AM »
most anime DVD have a subtitle track more specific to the Japanese dialouge, rather than a caption track for the dub.

Some recent DVD's have 2 subtitle tracks, a literal translation track, and the subtitle track to go along with the dub.

you are in australia, so I don't know much about the industry over there and how they do it, but this is how they do it in north america

overall, i am not too fearful of this project.

Gainax is involved (which means Anno is probably involved) as well as ADV, they didn't contract or sell the rights to someone, the creators and other people with intimate knowledge of the series are involved, and I have no doubt weta can pull off the Eva units.

This Is NOT a joke.

http://www.advfilms.com/news/index.asp?c=&p=920&i=921

Ginax (The creators of Evangelion), ADV films (Released Evangelion TV in North America), and WETA visual Effects (Lord of the Rings) have anoucned plans to create a live action film based off Neon Genisis Evangelion, arguably the most influential and still most talked abotu anime series ever created. While no date has been set, it was anoucned that production woudl be agressive, but they are still only in the most early of production.

Few big questions remained unanswered that hopefully will be answered soon.

Will they use a Japanese or American cast?

Will the story be a remake of the current story? Alternate presentation? Remake of End of Eva?  Sequel to End of Eva?

Cdjapan is a great site, though you can probably get a better price, and faster shipping from amazon japan (It's in japanese, but just search for the zelda CD by the catalog number you found on cdjapan).  And amazon japan has an english check out.

either way, i'd recommend pickign up one or two more CD's shipping won't go up by to much so you might as well make use of it.

General Gaming / Snake Eater???
« on: May 11, 2003, 05:17:04 AM »
i would bet konami intentionaly "leaked" this trailor.

This has generated a huge amount of hype, and will probably lead to MGS3 raking in yet another game of show award for Konami.

Also, let's no forget that this is Konami.  The company that kept the main character of Metal Gear Solid 2 a secret until the games release date.  They know how to keep thing secret.

General Gaming / Xenosaga for $26.99!!!
« on: May 09, 2003, 03:27:09 PM »
onyl bad things i ever heard abotu Xenosaga were references to the cut scenes.  But in the end, they are no more than the amount of text scenes in Xenogears.  It's pretty equal to what you saw in xenogears.

General Chat / X-2 : The SPOILER I've seen it topic
« on: May 02, 2003, 09:15:10 PM »
I enjoyed it quite a bit.  Much better than the first one.

only real disapointment was the opening scene with nightcrawler was never topped by any other scene.

Also, I wish they had shown Phoenix.

Like the better use of cameo's in the film.  They shouldn't have shown Colosus in the trailor though.  Jubalee cameo at the end was great.  Hope she sees screentime in X3.

Nintendo Gaming / Rockstar games hidden on Nintendo E3 website!
« on: April 25, 2003, 09:22:24 PM »
given that Sony bought exclusive console rights to the GTA series until the end of 2004, I doubt it.

Rockstar makes a lot more than just GTA.  I'd guess a port of State of Emergencey myself.

Nintendo Gaming / gamecube mmorpg??

when it's all over, i'd love to see bandai make a MMORPG based on "The World" in the .hack series.

General Gaming / Who's going to E3?
« on: April 08, 2003, 06:02:09 PM »
I've gone to E3 the past 2 years, and will be going again this year.

Someone asked abotu prices, so long as your over 18 they will pretty much le3t you in if you pay for the low price ticket, which is $300.  Just have to create some fake company name.

As for meeting the PGC people, just hang arround the Nintendo booth.  They are like flies.  They swarm arround everywhere, you'll run into them at some point.

General Chat / Wind Waker Soundtrack
« on: March 30, 2003, 04:27:37 AM »
In that situation i'd just download the soundtrack.

If you aren't going to give money to the artist, at least don't give money to bootlegers.

Son May and Ever Anime are bootleg brands, don't try to convince yourself they are real.  They are just pirated bootlegs sold in Tiawian and by cheap import stores worldwide to make a quick buck, without any of it going back to the origional artist.

Also, do not go to ebay and try to get CD's.  Just like trying to find a legit Japanese DVD for an anime, finding a legit game or anime soundtrack on EBAY is almost unheard of.

quick, basic and easy well to tell if your CD in a bootleg or not...

Somewhere on the package is the price of the item in Japanese yen.  If there is no price in Yen, it's very likely not a legit CD.

anyways.  here are the same links i posted in the main Gamecube forum.  These are to the amazon japan and cdjapan sites.  Both will give you the real thing, not a bootleg.  CDJapan is all in english.   Shipping is a bit slower, and more expensive (I usually get my stuff in about 3-4 days).  Amazon japan has a full check out in English, but the page I link to is in Japanese, shipping is cheaper and faster (Usually 2 days, but I did get a overnight shipping once).  I have had very good experiences with both these importers.  Both sell the soundtrack for
3200 yen (about $26.50 USD).

Amazon Japan

CD Japan

If importing isn't your thing.  www.animenation.com is a nice place to pick up LEGIT soundtracks in the USA.  It's imported, so the price is higher (37.95), but being domesitc (in the USA) the shipping will be cheaper.  They also list the OST as being out 4-19.  Might want to email them before purchase to see if that's a typo (Since real release date was 3-19).  I've ordered from them, they are very good.
