TalkBack / RE:IMPRESSIONS: Wii
« on: September 17, 2006, 08:20:21 PM »
Ok, here's my own view.  The speaker in the controller is not the best quality but I don't think it's as bad as you say.  I think it adds to the immersion.  Are you sure that what you heard weren't sound bugs or the like?  I wasn't where you were so I can't vouche for what you heard, but I can tell you that from what I've used of it, it sounds fine.  Not great, but good for what it is.

Man, I went to the website and started to play around with the make your own tape-up page.  I was cracking up.  Now that's a cool way to advertise, with fun little flash games.

That was a great editorial.  I really enjoyed reading it.  I think it makes several good points that some publications fail to recognize.  I also like that Johnny provides links to back up his editorial.  So many other journalists only mention but fail to provide supporting information.

This is great news for Nintendo.  While they may not make a profit on their console anymore, they still will with the software.  I seriously think that Nintendo will have a great holiday season.  Several of their big hits in the past year are at Player's choice prices and they have a solid lineup of new games for the holiday season.  I for one have several GCN games on reservation for the holiday season.

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Sued by Wizards of the Coast

WotC went down the drain after Hasbro brought them out.  I've also heard that there were a couple of crap events that happened that also cost them their downfall.  I live here in WA and I used to remember their giant store/gaming place in the U district, but it closed down and it seems that many of the smaller mall outlets are doing the same.  Their prime, as the business cycle works, has gone and they're just not doing as well anymore.  Maybe, this is an act of desperation, who knows.  I just think that this whole litigation deal stinks and I hope Nintendo wins.

I disagree with you.  I think Nintendo still has great quality stuff.  I've never had a problem with anything I bought of Nintendo's.

Actually, SOCOM wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't a great game either.  It's still fun though.  There are better soldier games out there but most of them are on the PC.  Ghost Recon is awesome, but the console version sucked.

I really think that's too bad that he sold of his GCN.  It's a great system.  I also have a PS2 and I love it, but Nintendo is where my heart is.  I think that there's room for multiple platforms because each one doesn't cover all the different games out there.  The only one that I don't have is XBox, I almost got one until I realized that the library was way too limited.  Mech Assault and Crimson Sea were awesome, but the rest of the games suck.  As much as they brag about Half Life 2, Doom 3, Ghost Recon, Counterstrike and other games, some of these games have been on my PC for over a year.  Why get a system that has PC games when those games will be better on their native platform?  For every person that got rid of their GCN I hope you rethink it, because it's a great system that is getting even better.

Nintendo Gaming / Is Nintendo Really Smarter Than They Let On?
« on: April 04, 2003, 09:25:18 PM »
I agree that releasing such big products during such a slow period in the season was a brillant idea.  While I do think that they still would have sold well regardless of when they were released, having them come out during the slow period added so much more to their success.  While people are playing Halo for the upteenth time and arguing about when their XBox Live is going to expire, we Nintendo guys are in gaming nirvana.  While I could careless about the Pokemons, GBA SP and WW are just amazing.  GBA SP is selling like hotcakes and while I do see copies of Zelda, the stock usually disappears in 2 days.  The last week, I've seen grown men, like college to adult, buying Gamecubes to get the free game and Zelda.  Actually, I usually adults as the ones buying Nintendo stuff, which is contractory to the statement that fanboys make that Nintendo is a kiddie system.  Dang, I guess "kiddie" means original and innovative.

TalkBack / Nintendo Crushes In March
« on: April 04, 2003, 09:11:00 PM »
Azule, hehe.  I was kinda surprised about Capcom even making such a statement.  It seems that Nintendo fans have been embrasing Capcom's games on the GCN.  I know I've been buying a good amount of them.  Well, let's hope that this tread of Nintendo success keeps up.

TalkBack / Resident Evil No Longer Exclusive?
« on: April 04, 2003, 09:07:43 PM »
I read this article or at least the translated version.  While I am a multiplatform gamer and I love each platform, I do want Nintendo to succeed the most and I think that Japanese developers like Capcom are the key to their success.  While this article is disheartening, many publishers have been whining about this crap for a while now and it seems that they're announcing games for Nintendo a couple of weeks later.  Oh No!!!!  I guess Capcom didn't check out how well Nintendo is doing here in the States right now...LOL  I don't really care if Capcom does give more support to the other consoles as long as it also gives Nintendo some good exclusives.  Guys, the funny thing is, whenever I see people buying a GCN or Nintendo products, it's always college guys or adults that are doing it.  I've only seen kids buy Nintendo stuff twice.  I seriously think that all the guys that are saying that Nintendo is kiddie is all those high school kids who are trying to be "hardcore" ..he...seems more like masculinity insecurities.  Oh well, hope this success keeps up for a  little while longer.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamespot gives WW a 9.3, you agree?
« on: March 28, 2003, 12:38:21 AM »
I agree with the Gamespy score of 97, I think that most of their complaints is mostly just nitpicking.  If I was a reviewer I would give it a 10.  This game just has so much going for it, just like most epics.  I don't really have any complainst so far and it seems that the more I play it, the more I love the game.  While Metroid Prime was awesome, this is what a System Seller should be.

Nintendo Gaming / My LOZ:WW experience
« on: March 28, 2003, 12:34:15 AM »
Guys, I think that there are only 2 groups of people who will not like the Wind Waker, Fanboys and people who just aren't into this type of game.  I think that most casual gamers up to gaming enthusiasts will enjoy this game.  I've played about 12 hrs since I got this game on Monday.  This is why I admire Shiggy Miyamoto so much.  The ways he produces this game is that it's not just a game, but a masterpiece.  It seems that the more I play it, I more I love this game.  It is a game of epic proportions along the lines of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.  It's just an amazing game, it's not played, but experienced.

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda Lives Up to Hype and More...
« on: March 28, 2003, 12:28:42 AM »
That is too bad.  All I can say about Wind Waker is that it's nothing short of amazing.  I would definitely vote this game as GOTY.  One of the biggest reasons that I admire Shiggy Miyamoto so much is that he treats games not just as games, but as an artform.  Every project that he's involved in shows this.   His games accomplish the reason that we have games, to have fun, yet he adds so much more than just that.  Wind Waker is one of those games that gives you goosebumps when you play and also when you watch the story progress.  The nostalgia that this game has adds to the over all effect and atmosphere, but you don't even need it to be awe-struck by this masterpiece of a game.  I think that this is why Nintendo continues to do well.  While other companies try to put attitude and image into their games, Nintendo brings it several levels about that.  Their games are not just image, but substance.  Wind Waker is a beautiful game, but at the same time, it has so much along the lines of story and atmosphere.  The gameplay is deep, while it challenges a person's reflexes, it also challenges a person's mind.  Sometimes, I wonder what else developers can add to a video game, since it seems that they are so advanced already, but I've learn that there is always something that no one else has done, or had done well and you can see it.  I find it really sad that some people aren't giving games like this a chance and are into that mainstream way of thinking where attitude and pretty graphics are all there is to a game.  They are missing the fact that games don't just let us have fun, but also give us a new perspective on things while they remind us of who we are.

Nintendo Gaming / Metal Gear Solid 3... Gamecube EXCLUSIVE!?
« on: March 24, 2003, 05:07:51 PM »
Guys, from other sources that I've read in the past MGS 3 is actually going like Splinter Cell.  MS paid enough money for Konami to have time exclusive rights to the game which is still undetermined.  From rumors I've heard the GCN MGS is suppose to be a totally new game.  I can't wait.  Hopefully it does well enough that Konami will give better support to Nintendo so that we'll see more of their franchises on a Nintendo system.  A new Castlevania or Contra maybe.

Nintendo Gaming / Soul Calibur 2.....
« on: March 23, 2003, 07:00:32 PM »
Seeing the GCN commercial for Soul Calibur 2 made me wanna tear my hair out to see if I'm awake.  What an awesome game.  The first Soul Calibur was just awesome and I was interested in seeing this new one, but with the inclusion of Link, I will definitely buy this.  It just gives me goosebumps everytime I watch that commercial.

Does anyone else here think that the PS2 version's exclusive character lame.  Tekken was a cool game, but I just think that they could've gotten a better character for the PS2.  Maybe Hotsuma from Shinobi, or Dante from Devil May Cry, or Rikimaru from Tenchu.  I just think that Heihachi isn't the best character for this game.

Nintendo Gaming / Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron III CONFIRMED
« on: March 23, 2003, 06:58:21 PM »
The Rogue Squadron games have always been a favorite console series of mine and I can't wait for the next installment in the series.  I would love to see more original missions for the game though.  I also would like to see a multiplayer mode, maybe co-op.  Better yet, LAN capable or online capabilities.  You can be each of the squadron members and get a 16 player squadron deathmatch online.  Hopefully Factor 5 will look into this.  It would make a great game greater.

Guys, I don't like Pokemon and I'm not saying that it's bad at all.  Who cares what other people think anyways?  It's all about what you like.  Life it too short for anyone to care about what's "in", if you enjoy pokemon, then enjoy it.  I got tired of trying to follow the crowd since I just started jr. high.  I did what I wanted and felt like, not in a bad sort of way, but I just didn't care what the trendy faceless morons did.  I did my own thing.  For you guys that are the same, more power to you.  We are ourselves.

Nintendo Gaming / Remakes
« on: March 23, 2003, 06:41:26 PM »
Guys, the remakes that I would like to see would be Final Fantasy 3 from the SNES or 6 as it was known in Japan and I would also like Chrono Trigger!!  In fact, every Square SNES game.  More Shmups too!!!  The 16 bit ear was cool and maybe we can even see some Genesis games on the GBA.

General Gaming / Why do nintendo fans hate Xbox so much?
« on: March 12, 2003, 09:50:30 PM »
Actually I wanted an XBox, but just certain things about how they are pissed me off.  It does have a few cool games, powerful hardware, and the best online plans.  I just got pissed how the XBox devs and marketing department have been in this fanboy sort of attitude.  Did any of you read Billy's story about going to Microsoft to try out XBox Live.  Throughout the article, the XBox devs kept throwing cheap shots at the GCN.  Instead of focusing their energy on their console and all the great things about it, they act as @$$holes.  It like a political election year.  Too much trash talking instead of focusing on their own stuff.  This tells me that they don't really have anything good to offer, so they bash the competition.  Another thing that I see is MS buying devs left and right or paying them off to delay the other versions of a game just to full the mainstream gamer into getting an XBox, just like Splinter Cell and Knights of the Old Republic.  I really can't blame developers for taking that money, it's hard to get funding for your studio.  The Official XBox magazine is just as bad with fanboyism.  I've read the other official mags for other consoles and they focus on their stuff.  I don't understand Mike Salmon and his group of cronies have to resort to needless bashing.  These people are just as bad as politicians.  Too be honest, so far I've been disappointed with the XBox library, except for a couple of titles.  It's all PC ports and sports games(Which I'm not into).  I prefer my FPS's and PC games on my PC.  I do like Microsoft products, they have some excellent PC productivity stuff and good PC gaming stuff like Sidewinder Voice and games like MechWarrior.  I don't want them to succeed at everything because I want their products to get better.  It's always good to have competition.  In conclusion, it's not XBox that I hate, it's the bad crap that surrounds it.

General Gaming / Interplay announces new Rpgs, no GCN version
« on: March 12, 2003, 09:36:25 PM »
Dude, this is another spin off, it's an action/adventure game.  It's not like any of the previous fall outs.  It's not like Fallout Tactics either, it's strictly more action oriented.

Nintendo Gaming / Thornado!!!
« on: March 12, 2003, 09:32:42 PM »
Do any of you remember that Factor 5 game Thornado.  It was a super soldier game, or something like that.  I read a couple of weeks ago that it's not cancelled like stated earlier, the thing is, it's going multiplatform, besides the GCN, XBox will get it too.  Hopefully, we'll see some Factor 5 magic.

TalkBack / Teens Still Controlling Game Market
« on: March 05, 2003, 08:34:46 PM »
EVERYONE READ THIS.

I used to work for a market research firm back in high school and I must say that you shouldn't always trust something like this.  This is just a sample, which isn't reliable.  There are so many factors that could affect the results.  There are many says in which a sample may be corrupted, in other words, focus groups sampling and surveys are only a couple of steps above guessing.  I wouldn't really on it.

I do agree with the PGC staff about how the younger teens are so much more impressionable.  Many kids always try to be with the "in" crowd.  One thing I've learned from mainstream society, image is a huge factor in many things and that totally affects how things in the market place succeed.  I'm a huge Nintendo fan and I must say that I like their stuff because it has so much to offer and has so much substance.  Don't get me wrong, there other systems are great too.  I also have a PS2 and I love it.  It just seems that many casual gamers are avoiding Nintendo because of how it's portrayed.  IMO, it's the best console.  I find that most of the avid gamers are Nintendo players.  I like I've said before, don't be discouraged by this, it's just a couple of steps above guessing.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo's Strategy is Paying Off
« on: March 02, 2003, 08:33:10 PM »
I totally agree with a lot of you guys on this.  Like I've said several times on several forums.  Key Japanese developers are what Nintendo needs.  To be honest, I don't really care of a lot of 3rd party developer in general since they put out crap.  Even though some fanboys are bragging that some 3rd party developers are leaving the cube, they are so wrong.  These developer aren't leaving, they are just reducing the number of titles.  The only problem that I see with it is that fact that we might miss some sleeper hit.  Otherwise, it means less crap on the shelves.  To also be honest, some of the developers/publishers like Codemasters and THQ are almostly crap anyways.  The only reason I like anything from THQ is because of one developer, Volition who did the Freespace, Descent, and Red Faction games, otherwise I would care less.  The only thing that I thought was interesting from Codemasters was Op:Flashpoint and it was a good, but not great game.  I thought that games like Ghost Recon and America's Army are much better.  Many fanboys would like to see Nintendo fail and our loyalty to waned, but I know that Nintendo is so far from it.

24
Some of you may think that I'm a biased fanboy and in a way I am.  I just think that MP was so much better than Splinter Cell.  It was just more original and fun.  Don't get me wrong, I have Splinter Cell on my PC and I think the game is awesome, but I just think that MP was a better game.  Considering so many indie and mainstream publications have awarded it their GOTY award.  Personally, I like the MGS games more than I like Splinter Cell.  Splinter Cell is an outstanding game, one that I'm really enjoying, but I must say that IMO some other games were more deserving of that award.  You guys should read Gamespy's closing comments on the AIAS awards.  I generally agree with it, except that I do think that WC3 did deserve Strategy GOTY.

Nintendo Gaming / PN03 Discussion
« on: March 02, 2003, 08:18:21 PM »
I'm really excited about these new Capcom games that are coming out like the rest of you.  The only that I'm not really too into is Viewitful Joe.  It just seems too weird for me.  I still give it a try to see if it's better than I think.
