Nintendo Gaming / Re: You VS Khushrenada

Will add you next time I'm on the Wii U!

The sound when she snaps her fingers?  It's just a canned sound effect.  A lot of sample sets just use the same sounds.  Sound designers have too much to do to worry about creating a unique snapping sound effect, so they just use generic samples.  You've probably heard the same sample a thousand times without paying a thought.  I wouldn't be surprised if the people producing the Switch video just pulled the same sample, and modified / layered it to get what they wanted.  It saves a lot of time.

Maybe just some samplebank yeah, I've had moments like that before. I'm like 99.9999% sure Mission Impossible 2 uses a sample also found in Rollercoaster Tycoon for example. And the trailer for one of those Divergent movies has a firebomb moment in it for which they've used the same sound effect you get when blowing up a plant in Star Fox Adventures haha.

This is somewhat unrelated, but I played through PN03 for the first time last night. The ending scene has a click that sounds almost the same as the Switch click. You can hear it with the link below.

Thats all, I just thought it was an interesting coincidence.

Wow yeah it's rather uncanny really! That was a cool game too, bit clunky in the control section. Iirc you had to press A every time you wanted to fire a shot right, instead of just holding it down for rapid fire?

Aww poop I missed this opportunity to cap off Khusrenada Week. Would've been a few easy wins for Khush in Smash Wii U too, because obviously I'm pretty crap at it as with every other game in existence.

It could've been the perfect Khusrenadir to end the week on too.

I too like dis discus cus I like discussions that do not diss discus-favouring individuals nor cuss out enthusiasts of discuses through spiteful discursive means.

But really, I appreciate the lengths you took to keep up my persona.

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but I did unabashedly enjoy Lost Reavers.

Oh hahaha really? Yeah no I just went for a vague take on your rpg thread, and these were the first two poorly reviewed titles with rpg elements I thought of. Never tried either of them, maybe I'll download Lost Reavers to give it a go on a free evening sometime then.

Fun coincidence though so just pretend it was intentional!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Official Sales Thread
« on: February 02, 2017, 06:43:17 PM »
I'm glad Gravity Rush 2 will at least get to 100k. I don't really know if those are good or bad numbers tho.

Yeah I'm curious too what would actually constitute good sales? Like sure it's heavily dependent upon the development budget for a title, relative to the platform's popularity and how long the platform has been in the market etc. But something like PoochPooch, how much would Nintendo hope for it to sell?

It's a down-port I guess, albeit with some extra content, a new title and on a much more popular platform (an ageing one perhaps). But the original sold like what, a million units over just 13m Wii U's? Would they expect to match that, or maybe get to 25-50% of those sales numbers? I have no idea, mind, just curious.

1283
If at all possible, next time try if it's also possible to not just switch 2 people's from A->B and B->A, but have A become B, B become C, and C become A etc. Too chaotic?

1284
Ah gotcha! I, Evan_B the elite pro ranked mode superclan McUltra gamer had merely temporarily forgotten the name of this feature I never used, apologies! But I'm glad it exists so that noobertroopers like yourself can still see the endings, Steefosaurus, and pretend to be good at games by waggling unconnected controllers in case someone passes by. An essential feature for you certainly, as there's no such thing as a website where one might gawk at video walkthroughs or something.

I believe. We shouldn't listen to fake news distributed by jealous haterlosers like the honourable Mr. Mark Rein! They obviously live in a post-fact world constructed entirely of their own imagination, refusing to see reality dawning upon them, sad!

What about... lemonade iced tea!

Truly reaching across the aisles. Real leadership, in a time we need it most!

Nice I also got Red Steel 2 a while back, looks really good still thanks to the artstyle they chose. I haven't gotten very far yet but so far so good. If anyone knows how to skip those 'don't forget to adjust the wrist strap and plug your wii motionplus into the shown accessory' videos I'd be glad to hear it though. Probably some button combo but I didn't figure it out right away and they're a bit obtrusive haha.

1288
Hahahaha perfect!  ;D

Had totally forgotten about those how-to-play DVDs. They were dvds right? On a system that couldn't play dvds?

It's ya boi, dat trusted ol' pal Evan_B coming atcha live from the future!!

So I'm out on the town for a millenial festival right (ugh those millenials so entitled know i'm sayin') and lo' and behold my friend's clumsy dad accidentally zorped us all into a time portal! I'll spare y'all the gory details so as not to Trigger anyone, but after some roundabout swervings I finally ended up at that most enviable of places: The 2018 Game Awards (sponsored by Beybladez)!!!

To give y'all plebians of the past a sneak peek I figured I'd share the winners with you, so you 2017ers can place bets on these and look super clairvoyant a year from now. Note to self: buy lottery ticket #52989258 in March!

Now I, Evan_B, don't know too much about RPGs of course, but the best RPG turned out to be Lost Reavers! Following the announcement I downloaded it (for free even!) right away of course and it is now my favourite game of all time. An engrossing story of four misfits who must unite pieces of a crystal to save the world, online too! Some phantasy these designers display. Y'all ain't ready for these 2018 graphics, hold on to your hats:

I play in Japanese like real otakus

Following my newly-found love of RPGs I was pleased to see I had returned to the 2018 Beybladez Game Awards (made possible by viewers like you) just in time to see the final award, the one for best 3DS eshop title!!! Now as someone who never saw the point of indie titles, electronic goods & services, or indeed the entire handheld platform as a whole, this wasn't of immediate interest to me... But all of that changed when confronted with the winner: Devil Band - Rock The Underworld!!!
A seamless port from the DSiWare service, this rhythmic title will be sure to rock your world too, if only you give it a chance!

It has a leveling system to accompany its catchy MIDI tunes

Well that's all the glimpses of the future I, Evan_B, was able to catch before being syzzurped back to boring old 2017. Oh one final piece of advice, Aries, stay clear of vengeful Pisces!!! But hey the future looks hella promising guys, just wish Our Galactic Overlord would allow everyone to sleep with dry bedding perhaps.

Peach out!

TalkBack / Re: Kimishima: Online Service Cost 2000 To 3000 Yen Annually

Considering I, Evan_B, subscribe to many online services already, I cannot at all live with 20$ on a yearly basis!

Also we have bacon cheese burgers.

Excuse me, hope this isn't too much of a bother but I'm currently on my paleo-vegan-detox diet and was just wondering whether these are also served starch-free with veggie patties, no dairy and glutenfree?

General Chat / Re: Have any of you heard of NOIR
« on: January 31, 2017, 08:23:45 PM »
Huh, no I've never heard of it but the premise definitely sounds interesting for a game! You could totally have those "villain-of-the-week" foes as like lil' mini-bosses to cap off every chapter. Maybe even release the game in episodic chunks? Plus anime art lends itself well to games, as it doesn't age as poorly as polygons tend to.

1293
Those cases could of course still change for the West. Japan also had smaller cases for GameCube for example. Do like the small format, but I wonder if the average consumer will (unconciously) view them as 'lesser' games than their PS4/Xbox counterparts? Feel like psychologically* one might be inclined to think of smaller things as "these ought to be cheaper", even if it's pretty unrelated.

*=This psychological fact sponsored entirely by speculation.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Releases Third Fiscal Quarter Financial Results
« on: January 31, 2017, 12:39:22 PM »
Out of curiosity, when you divide the lifetime software sales by lifetime hardware you should get a rough mean amount of games the average consumers buys, no?

96.5/13.56= 7.11 games per Wii U
320/65.3= 4.9 games per 3DS

Obviously super basic way of going about this, there's bound to be a ton of outliers skewing these results. But the 3DS average seems a bit low to me perhaps? Maybe a bunch of people just ONLY buy Pokémon on it, so they have 2 or 3 games max?

1295
Just found Rhythm Heaven for the DS priced at a mere 4 bucks. This is wonderful because now the amount of games I've bought this year already outweighs the number I've played/beaten, and we're not even past the first month!

Materialism!

OVERLY SIMPLE VERSION: It is like Russian Roulette. There is a list of words. One of those words is like the bullet. If you select when it is your turn to choose a word, then you lose. The bullet word is removed from the list and a new word is selected from the list to act as the bullet for the next round. Players then select words again until someone is eliminated. This process is repeated until only one person remains and is declared the winner.

Russian Wii Ulette, got it!

In honour of Khusrenada Week, I too will serve valiantly*!

*Once I figure out the rules for whatever this is.

Does anyone know if there's been any confirmation one way or the other on how many individual Joy-cons can connect to a SINGLE Switch?

That'd be interesting to know yeah! At the very least it's four, since you need 2 sets for ARMS local multiplayer and that'd make sense for 4-player Mario Kart as well. Super Bomberman R has an 8-player mode but the article doesn't mention whether that's all on one Switch...

Reader Reviews / Re: Need for Speed: Nitro (Wii) - VROOM!
« on: January 30, 2017, 06:17:38 PM »
It's honestly a little strange how such a prominent series like Need For Speed routinely flies under the radar. I've never even heard of this entry, and just this year I found Need For Speed Carbon in a friend's gamecube collection. Apparantly there's also a Wii U entry! Maybe I'm just consistently out of their marketing bubble or something.

Anyway, Nitro sounds pretty cool Phil. Maybe I'll play some Crazy Taxi this weekend.

Wrapped up Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE too, with the true ending too, I think?.
Don't really feel like writing much since a lot has been said about this already, but yeah it totally won me over. I think the game does suffer a bit from an unappealing first dungeon, and I ditched the first two partymembers ASAP because they were a bit annoying initially.

That said however, this is a superb RPG really. Fantastic battle system that can get very complicated on higher difficulty settings (I lost so many times in a row to one boss the game unlocked the 'Friendly' mode for me haha). Vibrant setting, pretty catchy tunes, and it doesn't waste your time too much. Before every bossfight it gives you a recommended level to be at, you can fast-travel around right from the start, the Gamepad neatly keeps track of all your important main and sidequests, maps etc...

All that convenience stuff goes a long way for me, finished it after 48.5 hours with all major sidequests done. Playing it early on I thought this would be a typical 7 out of 10 good, not great game. But past the halfway point they suddenly give it another shot in the arm, and once you can reliably dole out 6-move sessions the battles become a lot more manageable. Really really loved it, straight to my Wii U top 3; I never replay RPGs, ever, and yet...Maybe... Rating 9/10!
