Just an FYI - Audience score for Venom is 89%. It's much, much better than the abysmal reviews it's getting. Not saying it's great by any means, but it's definitely worth a watch. Honestly hoping for a sequel - Tom Hardy is excellent and the setup is there. I also hope Marvel Studios somehow does get Spider-Man involved.

The Venom review picture is also a bit murky since there seems to be a campaign to give the film bad reviews and promote A Star Is Born as this article highlights with some evidence.

Of course, if you really want to go down the rabbit hole of conspiracy, it could be getting early bad word of mouth to try and sabotage the movie from doing well at the box office in the hopes of having Sony give up it's Spiderman rights if they can't make much money from their movies. The Star is Born promos could be a cover to hide the true intent or give people an actual other option to watch instead of Venom to keep the film from making bank.
Whoever said, "Cheaters never win" must've never met Khushrenada.

Well, technically Marvel and Sony's deal is over after Spider-Man Far From Home comes out. It's very possible that Sony can offer Tom Holland some money to appear in the Venom sequel, or to make a third Spider-Man movie with Venom in it.

I've heard both a 2 and 3 pic deal w/ Sony for Spider-man... I can't remember which one was the original take. IIRC Tom Holland has commented and said he was contracted for 3 Spider-Man movies, and a total 5/6 appearances as Spidey for Marvel.

I've also heard of the "A Star is Born/Anti-Venom" campaign.

I have to admit I never expected Venom to be any good. But the reviews painted it as something I might actually enjoy if I came in with the right mindset. It actually encouraged me to maybe go see it this weekend afterall. Especially after getting somewhat positive audience reviews, I just might go see it if someone suggest going.

I read on Collider it was for two solo movies, Civil War, and Avengers 3 and 4. Marvel Studios got to choose the cast, writer and director for both Spider-Man movies and gets all the merchandise money, and Sony gets all of the box office.

I watched it today and the CGI is really spotty in places. Noticeably so.

There's oine really funny moment in the film that is truly deserved by the elevator/lifts, and by the end i liked the buddy comedy aspect they had. Tom Hardy really went for it and it shows.

My issue is a UK thing...Venom is a PG13 in the USA because they wanted to allow for the possibility of getting spiderman for later movies. That's fine, except here all the MCU movies are 12A but Venom is a 15. Yet nothing in that movie deserved a 15. There's no blood, gore or aggressive violence, yet The Dark Knight with its pencil trick got a 12A.

In the UK language isn't even an issue, right? Eddie does say "**** it" one time, but Wolverine says **** in several of his movies that were PG-13, but that's pretty rare to get used in a PG-13 movie here. The scene you mention (really no need for a spoiler tag) was pretty great. That's what really sold the buddy stuff for me...well, and what happens when they go down right after.

Deadpool and Logan are the only the two other Marvel movies to get a 15 here in recent years, but language (especially if its a **** said a few times) isn't paid attention to. Both those definitely got it for its violence though.

I've never heard of a movie that has no sex scene (i dont count what we got as one), little language, no nudity and no blood or guts to get a 15.

Venom wins again, dropping only 55% to $35.7 million - sitting at $143 million US/$378 million worldwide and still going strong. Could end up beating Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the US in another week or so. Opens in Japan on November 2nd and China at...some point. Basically...there will be a sequel, no doubt.

Since the Sony deal only has one film left, I think it's entirely possible. Something will happen - there's too much money on the table for this Venom to face off or team up (or both) with this Spider-Man.

I know I've mentioned it before, but god damn if the Daredevil intro isn't one of the coolest things ever. On Season 3 Episode 11...

Finished season 3.  Damn it was awesome.  My favourite of all the Netflix seasons thus far.  Just excellent.

Also, a bit of trivia for you.  That 11 minute fight sequence in episode 4 in the jail was all one take.  Truly a magnificent achievement.

speaking of Castelvania S2 (Netflix... in the rate TV show thread)

I know it will probably much lighter in tone, but I also hope the animation style is a little better.
Maybe closer to The Dragon Prince on Netflix.

Once Upon a Deadpool (2) - (Now in PG-13) the 12 days before Xmas (Dec 12-Dec 24)
15 Minutes of extra footage and a new character.

RR filmed all the extra framing scenes in a single day under the radar.
and the best part is that $1 from each ticket sold goes to the **** Cancer Foundation, which has also been temporarily renamed the "Fudge Cancer Foundation" to adhere to the PG-13 theme.

Well, I didn't think DP2 was good enough to merit a second viewing, but as I always say, you do more work, you get more of my money.

Well... it's now a Xmas movie, and a blatant attempt at showing Marvel Studios how DP works in the MCU. Last ditch effort while Fox is still in charge of these kind of things.
I support it wholeheartedly.
As long as RR knows his creative input will likely be scaled back if somehow inserted/rebooted into the MCU
