troubles with NTSC and PAL.
« on: January 13, 2006, 01:55:00 PM »
Hello !

I've a japanese GameCube (the very first model) switched jap/US (works perfectly). But now I'm back in France I've got a PAL TV and on it NTSC do a black and white picture...
Si I've modded my gamecube with a qoob pro (BIOS 1.3c) to pass french PAL games on my system and (i thought) to correct this problem since qoob has a option to force output video in NTSC or PAL. The qoob chip work well for PAL games on my system but the option for video output seems to have no effect ! The picture is still in black with US, jap or european games... (so still in NTSC I presume)
Does someone know how to solve my problem ?

Thank you for your help.

Either plug a VCR between the GC and the TV or get a new TV. Most TVs these days take both PAL and NTSC signals.

Thank you for your help. I've a brand new Sharp system and it doesn't take NTSC. I thought too that all new TV and VCR sold in France could take NTSC, but it's a mistake...

What about my pseudo ? Is "gakman" someone for you I don't know ? Could you explain please ?

OK, I'm not him.

For my black en with troubles I use a RGB cable for the GameCube.
After tests with en Genesis 2, the picture of this odl system NTSC with a RGB cable is in color !!! Why doesn't it work with the GameCube ?

Please help me I can't understand ! And Mario Kart in black and white, it's sad...
Thank you.

Alternative solution: buy a Freeloader / Action Replay if you can't get your region switch to work. It can be found cheaply (approx A$20 / ~ 10 euro).

He'd need a new GC for that because his GC is an NTSC one.

Either way, a VCR should do the job, have you tried that yet?

And with a freeloader the system will exit a real PAL signal ?
Why when I put my qoob on "PAL", I've the same trouble that if it is on "NTSC" ?
Another thing : I've a Genesis 2 (so in NTSC 60Hz), and it works find on this same TV !
I can't understand...

Nope. But I do know that I have a computer monitor that has component input.
