TalkBack / Re: Smash Bros. Leak Potentially Reveals New Characters
« on: August 25, 2014, 07:42:40 PM »
The leak is looking more credible. Wonder where it came from, NoA or ESRB?

According to speculations, it's probably coming from ESRB due to the player's name being ESRB0083 as seen from this picture: http://i.imgur.com/4we08sB.jpg

Ranking the Professor Layton Series.

And the movie is awesome.  It totally counts.

"A perplexing puzzle as one NWR staffer tries to figure out his favorite Layton games."

As much awesome the movie was, it's still not a game.

No love for Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva?  For shame.

Eternal Diva is a movie, not a game, so it doesn't count.

As for my favorite Layton game, I'm with you Phil, but I'd switch Last Specter with Diabolical Box. Diabolical Box also almost gave me tears at the end.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Best of the Wii: Monster Hunter Tri
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:54:58 PM »
I'm with you, geo. The series is great if you get pass the learning curve. Monster Hunter is a game like no other. The game gives you a great sense of accomplishment when you take down giant monsters. Hunting for monsters is one thing, but there's more to it than that.

In words of Neku Sakuraba: "...Why ... What the HELL!?!?"

I'm more worried about the game getting cancelled entirely than the localization not happening. The Layton name is still a draw in Western territories.

They better not, or else they'll see hell coming towards them.

Also, this: www.square-enix.co.jp/subaseka/images/NCQKL/sound_3days.mp3
It's the remix of the song from the game called "Calling," and it was taken from the website itself.

Also, just to remove some more doubt, here's a comparison of the image from the website and the 109 building of Shibuya in the original game: http://mediacdn.disqus.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/327/3200/original.jpg

TalkBack / Re: The Next 3D Zelda
« on: July 27, 2012, 10:58:49 PM »
Ugh.

Zelda had TWO outings on the DS. Two games, made for that system from the ground up. What's with all this port nonsense? I get it- A Link to the Past and Majora's Mask are both great games, but to argue over which should get a port is just silly. They should stop hiding behind past successes and MAKE A NEW GAME.

Oh, and if you release a Link to the Past, it should be a 3D classic.
Like TJ Spyke said, Nintendo already confirmed a new one coming out.

Pac-Man is the obvious choice even if he's more Mr. Game and Watch than Mario. I would really like to see KOS-MOS due to her being created by Nintendo owned Monolith Soft who also helped develop Brawl. I'm not holding my breath but I think she'd be a cool addition. And I wish Nintendo would attain the rights to Xenosaga and have Monolith Soft finish their series.

I'm not sure who would best represent modern Namco. Heihachi Mishima maybe, but he's already showing up in Sony Smash Bros. Playstation All-Stars if that matters. Nightmare?

KOS-MOS would be a great addition as well as Shulk from Xenoblade. Nightmare would also be awesome, but I want Mitsurugi or Kilik better :)

I would like Tekken characters along with a volcano stage to throw people in.

I have a mixed feeling about Tekken characters being in Smash Bros., and would rather them to just improve the characters that have the same moves and give them new distinct move sets from their series. As for volcano stage, there's already Norfair.

Is it just me or adding raw links when posting makes your post invisible on the the main site's Talkback section?

Harada actually corrected this and stated "difficult" not "distracting."

Wow memories. Poke'mon was my childhood growning up. I also had that CD too, it was amazing.
Hehe... I still have the CD, but I don't know where it is. :S

Before I clicked this, I KNEW he would have to namedrop Ron Paul.

 lol.

The remix (if you call it that) is just so weird. LOL

TalkBack / Re: Warren Spector on E3, Violence, and Epic Mickey
« on: June 15, 2012, 12:13:10 AM »
I agree with Spector. Most of the time when I'm in Youtube or some other forum, I always find these comments made by these so-called "hardcore gamers" bashing a game and calling it casual just because it's not violent or bloody. To them, a game is not "hardcore" unless it's a mature rated game. When did mature rated games automatically equal hardcore? Most of these "hardcore gamers" also seem to believe a more core and much more depth game like Pokemon a casual game. Hell, Pokemon has more depth than most generic shooters combined, which makes my blood boil whenever I see a "hardcore gamer" talks it down and calls it a casual game just because of its colorful art direction. Speaking of art direction or art style, I also find those "hardcore gamers" commenting about certain games being casual just because the game uses non-realistic approach on the visuals. It's like everything to them has to be realistic looking to be hardcore or to be good. When did visuals and mature content equal good game? I lost all gaming respect on these mofos.

What would be ironic and funny at the same time would be for Nintendo to announce a new name for the system at E3. It would blow everyone's mind! XD

Hmm...looking at the controller picture again, I still hate that the analog sticks are up at the top of the controller, with the Dpad and buttons underneath them.  I can at least entertain the notion as to why the Dpad "needs" to be where it is, but c'mon having the buttons below the right analog stick is just so counter-intuitive to traditional controller design.

I tried emulating the control scheme of this controller with the the other controllers, and it felt the same to me. In fact, I think it gave me a better control and better comfort with the analogs being on top than on the bottom. I'm sure that the new placements of the buttons and analogs will not complicate of getting used to.
