So glad to see this. I haven't ever played a Fire Emblem game before this demo, and it hooked me. I'm preordering. Can't wait for the full review.

Coins are back! Lucky 7 and Leaf sound like fun. The videos that have been put up make this look incredible. Nice article, Aaron.

Luigi's Mansion looks good, and Mario Kart looks excellent, but Mario Tennis looks like the exact same as the GBA version. I mean, I guess it is tennis, there isn't much that can be done to make it more exciting. I just wanted a new take on the controls or something to get me excited about it.

This *barely* soothes the pain from the Netflix price hike yesterday.

TalkBack / Re: Why Handhelds Aren't Dead
« on: June 12, 2011, 01:58:47 PM »
Game journalists always seem to forget this. Try as they might to convince me that gamers are hip 19-24 year olds, I know the truth; we are mostly older, married, and have young children. When I made the jump into the current gen consoles I didn't just buy it for me. More than anything I wanted to get a system that I could play with my kids, because I knew they would see me playing it. The opposite is true for my handheld. I can get away with playing games like 999 because they aren't as likely to see me playing it before bed, on break at work, or on the toilet(you know you all do it). I have an ipod touch, an android phone, and a ds lite. The gaming is so much deeper on my lite than anything either of the others have brought to me.

Thanks for saying what we all were thinking Nathan.

I started looking for this after James recommended it on RFN, but had a lot of trouble finding it. After Andy talked about it on the newscast I made it a point to find a copy. It was worth the search. It should be stated that in addition to the violence in this game, the language is also quite strong.

There's a fan translation in the works that is being overseen by Ray Barnholt (ex-1up, current Gamepro, Game Center CX fan). Hopefully something comes of it.

Great info! Thanks!

Retro Game Challenge is one of those games that I get so excited about showing off to people. I died a little when I heard that RGC 2 was unlikely to make the trip stateside. I have considered learning Japanese for the sequel, and that says a lot.

Seriously? FF IV is one of my favorite games of all time, but it is 20 years old. Sure the new graphics are great and all, but this is taking a spot from other games that are original DS or DS only games. Let Cecil and Co. rest in peace.

I'm sure that I will be back to complain about another favorite of mine later... Chrono Trigger.

And I understand that this is simply The Best 30, I had just hoped for some games that were created some time in the 7 year life cycle of the DS.

Thanks for doing this one. I have been interested in TWEWY since its launch, but now I am glad I saved my scratch.

Another great show, but I think I may be the only person that still would like to hear more from Zach about DQIX. I've put in over 100 hours and still stumble on new things.

I would love to see some real follow up on Nintendo's part. I want to grab a 3ds at launch, but if my 5 year old may be harmed then it is out for a few years. Of course by that time his brother will be four. Hmmmm

I feel your pain. My local Play n' Trade  doesn't even try to compete with Gamestop. It seems their biggest selling point is "Hey, we aren't Gamestop!" Which usually works for me, but has slowly lost its charm.

I use Gamestop for used and accessories, but buy new from the big box stores. Being a gamer in a family full of non-gamers means that I get a ton of gift cards, but they are usually for Gamestop.
