Awesome!  Last year was a blast and this year we've had even more time to prepare and more people involved behind-the-scenes.  This should equate to a better and more entertaining event.  I'll keep you guys updated!

If you haven't done so yet, spread the word!

Last year as an encore, we had Geoff (a pro) go 2v1 against a pair of bronze players while commentating at the same time.  It was hilarious stuff.

In fact, you can watch the VODs of last year's events here: (part 1) http://blip.tv/trus/rumble-in-the-bronze-part-1-4504601 and (part 2) http://blip.tv/trus/rumble-in-the-bronze-part-2-4504794

A Starcraft 2 Charity event!
Hey everyone!  Do you like Starcraft 2?  Do you like being entertained?  Do you like helping out sick children?  Well then, I've got exactly what you need.  Welcome to the second showing of The Rumble in the Bronze!

What the heck is the RitB?  Basically, a bunch of talented guys from the Penny Arcade forums and I decided on a whim to hold a charity event with the proceeds going to the Penny Arcade Child's Play charity.  We somehow got a professional announcer and player, Geoff "iNcontrol" Robinson, to cast the event.  The hook was that all the players in the event would be bronze league level.  For those of you who don't know, the Bronze League is the lowest level of Starcraft players.

The results were amazing!  We ended up having several thousand people watch the stream and generated over $3,000.  This year we are doing it again and got Geoff to cast once again.  People really loved watching bad players go at it with Geoff making jokes at their expense.

I'm was thinking you guys might be interested in watching the event.  The stream will be on December 10th, starting at 6pm (EST), with a pre-show at 5pm(EST).  The event is free to everyone.  If you want to donate you can, but if not, could you at least pass along the link so we can get even more people to tune it.

Here's are our trailers for the event!

Thanks for checking this out and let me know what you think.

Man I loved the ending.  I think it's a double cross though and the surprise character isn't who they say they are.  :-)

I've collected enough puzzle pieces to finish 5 puzzles.  No one in my area has gotten a single Kirby yet.  Frustrating!

Did this game just fly right by everyone's radar?  Made by the same team that made Henry Hatsworth, another amazing game you need to own.  Picked this up on a friend's recommendation.  So good.  Here's the story:

You play as Ellie, a young girl who gets magically warped to a different world.  Upon arriving, she finds an egg which hatches into a monster, which Ellie names Chomp.

The game plays a combination of Metroid, Henry Hatsworth, and any RPG with a skill tree system.  Metroid style maps and areas that are blocked off until you have the skill to proceed.  The combat is HH style, a melee attack with a launcher, and a combo system that smashes out better rewards for a higher combo count.  Sometimes enemies drop items like cookies, barbells, scrolls, soccer balls, and so on.  Chomp can move between the two screens, the top one to fight with you and the bottom one to eat the items you've found.

Chomp can consume items on the lower screen to gain experience and stats.  After a while, he'll level-up gaining newer stats and stuff.  Eventually, you can evolve him into different forms (based on fire, water, and leafs with the expected strength->weaknesses).  You can also move Chomp between evolutions to best suit the situation.  Any abilities and skills he masters in one form can be used in other forms.

Anyways, hopefully you've read this and are willing to give the game a shot.  You'll probably be just as surprised at the quality of the game as I was.  Give it a shot.

Here's a quick gameplay video:

Beat the game last week.  Awesome stuff.  After I finish Zelda and RE: Mercenaries, I'll pick it up again to do the unlocked battle maps.  If you haven't picked this game up, go ahead and do it.  Best launch game available.

I absolutely LOVE FE, but after the horrible DS rerelease of the original, I'm being a bit weary.  If they do a shoddy port again then I'm out.  Sadly, I hear lots of amazing things about the original FE games and would love to give them a go.

Just finished my first map that featured fog of war.  An indoor environment that had looked doorways.  Upon opening the doors, the troops within would be revealed.  The game continues to impress.

Got my free copy from Ubisoft and can concur with all the comments above me; this game is pure SRPG gold.  As a huge Advance Wars/Fire Emblem junkie, I am in heaven.  All units are ranged, but each unit has a different move and fire distance to take into account.

For example:

Assault Rifle user: Movement 5 squares, Movement+Fire 4 squares, Fire Range 5 squares, return fire @50%
MachineGun user: Movement 6 squares, Movement+Fire 2 squares, Fire Range 7 squares, return fire @100%

Movement+Fire indicates how many squares into your movement a character can move and still fire.  Using the above stats, the AR user can move further and still fire while the MG can't move as far while still getting the chance to shoot.  But the MG user will have a better chance at return fire with a range of 7 and do 100% damage as opposed to the 50% of the AR user.

This is just one of the more interesting tactics you need to keep in mind while playing.  Also, when a character uses a special attack, they can usually take another action afterwords.  Again, another thing to consider when in a pinch.

Sadly, I've had the game crash on me twice while playing.  Good to hear other people are experiencing the same problem.  Hopefully a fix is on the way.

More impressions to come!

I bought Super Street Fighter 4, Pilotwings, Steel Diver, and Nintendogs.  I'll be getting the four Ubisoft games from my job.  I really want the Ghost Recon game.

Hey!  I haven't been on these boards in a long time, but the 3DS has brought me back.  In the meantime, I've gotten a job working for Ubisoft as a college rep.  The long and short is that I get free copies of Ubisoft games that I can use as prizes for tournaments.  I should be receiving copies of each of the 3DS titles with Ghost Recon being the most exciting.  As a huge Fire Emblem/Advance Wars junkie, expect a full review once I get into the game.  :)

Just got this one myself.  Way too good for it's own good.  I'm on the second campaign now.

Like SixthAngel said, it's all about lining up three units (of the same color) on top of each other to attack.  If you line them up side-by-side they turn into a defensive structure.  Units don't attack right away, but rather have a charge time before attacking.  This is usually a number of turns between 1-5.  The lower the number the faster they attack, but usually dishing out less damage.  Any attacks that occur will damage enemy units in a straight line.  If all of the enemy units are killed during the attack, then the attacking force continues on damaging the opponent's hit points directly.

I highly recommend it to anyone who likes puzzle or strategy games.  You don't need to know the history of the Might & Magic universe to follow the story, but it does tie into some of the other games.

Ran into a stranger on the side of the road asking for a ride.  Zangief turns him down and Rose calls him mean.  Run into another guy later and give him a ride.  Rose yells and Zangief for putting the family in danger and Guile complains that the man stinks.

:D

I've been looking at the DSiWare Sudoku games and don't know which one to download.  Based on what Vudu wrote, it looks like I should skip on them all but I really want to carry less game carts with me when I'm out.

So Vudu, if you had to recommend one, which one would it be, even if it's the best of the worst.

I'm not vudu, but I have the Brain Age DSi Sudoku game and I love it, I'd definitely recommend it.

Oh really?  I loved the Brain Age version of Sudoku so this will be perfect.  Thanks!

This is yet another reason why I need to break down and drop $170 on a DSi.

Sadly, I lost my youngest daughter Cammy when a Bald Eagle swooped in and carried her off "Never to be seen or heard from again."  This happened real early in the game and I didn't realize I was supposed to shoot it to keep my family safe.  The bird came back later to snatch up my son Guile, but this time daddy Zangief blew it out of the sky.  Mommy Rose wasn't too happy about it, which makes no sense after losing her youngest daughter.  I guess having daughter Chun Li around was enough for her.  :D

This is awesome.

Isn't though.  Not to long ago, my Street Fighter family was running down the trail and they said the following:

Mama Rose: "I wonder why Cammy isn't talking to me?"
Daddy Zangief: "She probably doesn't like you."
Mama Rose: "But why?"

:confused; This game is an unintentional riot.  Also, Guile and Chun Li got dysentery, but survived after a days rest.  Whew!
