An all new platformer from Yuji Naka!  Get the beefy vittles right here!

SEGA UNVEILS "BILLY HATCHER AND THE GIANT EGG" FROM THE CREATOR OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

SAN FRANCISCO - (April 14, 2003) - SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced "Billy Hatcher and the Giant EggTM," a new platform game exclusively for the Nintendo GameCubeTM. "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg" is currently in development under the direction of SEGA's renowned Yuji Naka, the creator of SEGA's world-famous Sonic The Hedgehog® series.

The first all-new platform game and character from Yuji Naka and SONICTEAMTM since the SEGA SaturnTM era, "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg" is the story of a young boy who must save a once magical kingdom from the clutches an evil King who threatens to rule with an everlasting night. Gamers must learn to use the powers of a legendary suit and control magical eggs to restore light to the kingdom.

A vibrant, lightning-fast 3-D platformer, "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg" challenges gamers to hatch dozens of magical creatures from special eggs as they explore themed, carnival-esque environments on their quest to save the kingdom. Playing as Billy Hatcher, players will roll the eggs though the world, using them to solve puzzles, fight enemies, and even ultimately hatch magical creatures that enhance their abilities, adding a unique strategic twist to the fast action.

"'Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg' is pure SONICTEAM magic," said Mike Fischer, vice president of marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "A dizzying blend of fast action, hypnotic gameplay and one-of-a-kind characters, 'Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg' is, without a doubt, the next big thing from the legendary SONICTEAM."

"Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg" is slated for release in the U.S. in Fall 2003.

Okay... now this is weird. But then again, this is from the guy who turned weird titles like ChuChu Rocket and Samba de Amigo into big hits. We'll see what happens. Still hoping they announce that rumored new Sonic title soon!

Well that's very, um, dumb name.  It's like "Billy and the Clonesaurus" bad.  I really can't imagine myself saying to the EB clerk "Hi I'd like to buy a copy of Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg".  Of course it's still better than "Super Mario Sunshine".

I wonder what this will be like.  Hopefully it won't just be a Sonic game with a different character ("lighting fast").  If they're going to do that just make a new Sonic game.  Maybe Sonic Team can work on making a camera that doesn't suck while they're at it.  Anyway I anticipate the first screenshots.

Amazing!  An original Sonic Team game for Gamecube!  Haven't seen anything original from Sonic Team in a while.  Hopefully they haven't lost their touch for making innovative, original games.

Mmmmm, new Sonic Team game. And an interesting sounding one at that. I just hope they don't destroy it in the music area, where's 'Dreams May Come True'? Quick, get them back to do the music!

An original title!?  Something new from Sonic Team!?  A Gamecube exclusive!?!?  OHHHHH YEAH!  "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg"  I know this game is going to be a great addition to my GCN library of titles.  But, the average gamer will have no idea!  Gamecube has the largest number of "5 star" titles.  Yet the world has more PS2's and XBOX's!  PS2 has a nice collection of "so-so" titles, with a "5 star" here and there.  XBOX, well, if I here an XBOX fanboy say "Halo" one more time I am going to cry.  Lucky for them, they will have a second "5 star" title coming soon, "Halo 2."  I love that Sega is so supportive of GCN, but I just don't think this game is going to be the "system seller" everyone (not me) keeps saying GCN needs, let alone selll a decent number of the game itself.  Needless to say, I will be looking forward to this game release.

Kulock, are you trying to quote "I am the Walrus"? The line goes like this:

I am the eggman! (ahhhhh)
They are the eggmen! (ahhhhh)
I am the walrus, goo goo ga joob!
