This kind of stuff makes me sick.

They can't blame videogames for it unless it's a hamster, anything else was inspired by movies.

What if you masturbate to dead kittens, kittens that were killed as a result of your masturbation? Maxi relax, I was joking. I do hate cats though, they still have the natural instinct to turn on their owners, and are not fully domesticated.

Doesn't this underlye a problem with the society. He should have got more than they got.

Indeed, like prolonged torture followed by an outright execution.

This is not the type of person we want in our society. People like this will never contribute anything as they obviously cannot function within even the most vague sense of moral boundaries. So why then are we keeping them around? Because we like to think of ourselves as better, even if it'll eventually drag us all down in one way or another. Real crime isn't treated appropriately because we spend far too much time punishing people for victimless activities like drugs and prostitution. What we need is a Colosseum setup where criminals kill each other and bring in entertainment revenue for the state while doing so.

Society's lack of interest in protecting the well being of other lifeforms doesn't help either. When entire industries survive off of the wholesale torture and genocide of completely innocent and utterly helpless critters, it's really no surprise that a cooked cat raises so few eyebrows.

yeah i hear that. I had chicken in the oven and i couldnt eat it because i just pictured the scene... ugh.

the news story didnt give too much detail, but it was graphic enough. They fucking wrote "nice cat, check the microwave" on their cupboards...

actually that brings up another issue that i dont think has been touched yet. W/o reading the article you wouldnt know that they basically broke into someones house (the kids knew the family was out on vacation) and also vandalyzed their property, then killed the cat. How does ALL that not add up to a greater sentence than "no pets for 2 years, no violent video games for 1 year, and lights out by 9pm/wake up by 6am everyday!"

seriously? wow..

now that video game part... i don't know if the sentencing just banned them from playing games, or any violent media all together, but thats the picture the article paints and that just irks me, but i dont wanna get into it.

You're against eating meat but for institutionalized torture and forcing people to fight to death for other people's pleasure?

Anyway these people don't need to be killed. That's ridiculous. 50 years ago, a 16 year old girl named Juliet Hulme and her friend, Pauline, bludgeoned Pauline's mother to death. Juliet was let out after five years in prison and society isn't worse for it. She never killed again. She's now a devout mormon and successful mystery novelist. Her name is now Anne Perry.

I'm not against eating meat. Eating meat is a very natural part of our existence. What I am against is factory farms which not only create Hellish environments for the creatures, but also do a lot to poison the planet and the people eating said meats. If you want to eat flesh, go out and hunt for it. Kill the creatures humanely and use up every last bit. Animals don't deserve to be tortured simply to meet the ridiculously high demands of a hungry market--humans that make a very conscious choice to be violent criminals do deserve it however.

Also, did you just say that society is no worse off now that we have another Mormon amongst our ranks? Riiight...

Although this is quite disturbing I find people tend to overreact to stuff like this because it involves a cute animal getting killed.  Not picking on anyone here but it's not uncommon to encounter people that appear to get more grossed out by violence against pets than violence against people.  If these two teens broke into someone's house and killed a full grown man would this have created enough of an outrage to post here and would it attract as much attention?  It would probably be considered a run of the mill crime, largely ignored outside the local area.

I would throw these kids in jail for a few years for breaking into someone's house and destroying property and some mandatory psychiatric evaluation due to them appearing to take pleasure in torturing a living creature.

I have a cat and this grosses me out a lot but I don't regard animals as equal to animals.  I can't be cool with us using non-human animals as a resource (meat, leather, etc) and then regard some animals as having human rights because we keep them as pets.  I see the cat as the property of the family who owned them.  Thus these teens destroyed some else's property.  Sounds a little cold but how can you say that a cat is deserving of more rights than a cow at a slaughterhouse?  Now if these teens caught a stray cat, killed it in an efficient and humane manner, took no pleasure in torturing it and then ate it and used every bit of the animal they could would that be a problem?  I'm sure a lot of people would freak out but they shouldn't.  The problem is that it wasn't their cat and they killed and tortured it entirely because they found commiting the violent act pleasureable.

That part of it is the part that's really scary and that's the part that means that these kids need to be monitored.  People who like causing pain for no reason are potentially dangerous to society.  If they enjoy torturing a cat they may enjoy torturing a human.

The slap on the wrist they got is more of a flaw in young offenders laws.  I think it's stupid that because someone is under 18 that they shouldn't be responsible for serious crimes.  There are career criminals that waltz in and out of jail because they're under 18.  I don't care if they don't know better.  They're dangerous so get them off the street.  Prision should not be seen as a punishment but rather a place to keep dangerous people away from the rest of us.  A minor that kills is still dangerous, even if he's too immature to know better.  Insane people don't know better either but if they're so nuts that they're a danger to everyone we lock them up.  How is a crazy dangerous person any different than an immature one?

Ian, I think that people react like they do is because the animal doesn't really have a chance against these people but humans do.

Part of the reason I posted this was the punishment was so light  for this act.

You have a point with the animal rights. We are hypocrites.

I agree about the prisons, but they are full. So you run the risk of letting a minor offender go and that person might do a major crime.

I agree about the prisons, but they are full.

Priorities.  Tax cheats go to prison.  White collar criminals.  People who commit perjury.  19 year olds that have consentual sex with 17 year olds.  People that commit one act of neglegence causing death like accidentally running someone over with their car and then trying to run away from it.  Pot smokers.  Prostitutes.  All sorts of "criminals" are in jail that aren't really all that dangerous.  Martha Stewart was in jail.  Why?  Did she break the law?  Yeah.  Is she going to break into my house or stab me in an alley?  Should I fear her?  No, but we lock people like that up anyway when really community service or a big fine or house arrest would be perfect sufficient.  Minimum security prisons?  What the hell do we need these for?  If prisons are too full then focus on the dangerous crinimals and let the tax cheat off with a huge fine.

I think that's mostly because of the sad fact that the world is so full of tragedies that only the unusual ones are newsworthy anymore.  There are a lot of people who think humans are monsters and see this incident as more evidence to condemn our evil species, but I think they're in the minority (and nuts).

If these two teens broke into someone's house and killed a full grown man would this have created enough of an outrage to post here and would it attract as much attention?  It would probably be considered a run of the mill crime, largely ignored outside the local area.

...

The problem is that it wasn't their cat and they killed and tortured it entirely because they found commiting the violent act pleasureable

You answered your own question there...The act of torturing an innocent creature is beyond heinous...And yes, these kids shouldn't have gotten away so lightly... =\

as far as keeping pets, most of the animals that make great pets are predatory. Dogs are scavengers, but are predatory as well, cats are super predators. The taboo on eating meet from predators goes back to biblical times. Theres a certain level of intelligence that has to be attained to be a predator, and its alot smarter then prey animals. Your like breaking the predatory code if you kill a pet

This is not the type of person we want in our society. People like this will never contribute anything as they obviously cannot function within even the most vague sense of moral boundaries.

Just want to point out that someone who killed a kitten as a small boy went on to write one of the more important novels of the 20th century.  It's a bit premature to write these kids off completely.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

So I'm at the local mall today for my lunch break, beacause I only had a $5 bill in my wallet until i get paid after work, and the mall just so happens to house the nearest McDonalds and its obvious that i can only afford Dollar Menu items right now. Oh and theres always hot mall ass, but that goes without saying.

So anyway, I'm standing on the line to get me some McD's and this bummy looking guy starts asking anyone and everyone for a quarter so he could buy a hamburger. I didn't have any change to give him, or else I would have cuz thast just the kinda guy I am. My turn comes, I order and get my change back; $2. The bum is still begging for change so I give him one of the dollars I had, I wasn't going to use it and it feels good to do kind deeds and all that crap.

The guy barely thanks me when i give him the dollar, just so you know, and he orders at the same cashier i was at. I'm still there because i'm waiting for my food. My headphones are on and though i didnt hear his order, i saw what he paid with... The guy tried to slip her a $20 bill to pay for whatever the hell he ordered. The way he handed it to her, you know he was trying to keep me from seeing the bill. I acted calm at first, i just watched out of the corner of my eye as she gave him the change back. Right before it hit his hands i snatched it from her, took a single back and threw the rest at that jerk.

The guy has the nerve to start shouting at me, saying i robbed him. I told him, simply and as politely as i could, to go **** himself repeatedly, once for every person he's fucked over by stealing their money. He tried to get in my face about it but a rent-a-cop came by to seperate him from me and tried to mediate the situation. He still had the nerve to say i was trying to rob him, but the cashier backed up my claims so they asked the bum to leave and he wouldn't, so they had to escort him out as he spouted **** about Mexicans (since all the visible McD's staff was hispanic and so am i)

Maxi, I've helped people out in so many ways whether it's currency or something else, I've lost track. I've lent people money; borrowed money; forgot about money; money is so trivial. I've given change to the random bum, but I'd rather and usually give them food. I've volunteered at the local homeless shelter and what not. To me, it all comes down to Karma. If your intentions are just than you are just; but more importantly, don't actively **** over anyone. I've broken that rule before, but I'm getting a lot better at it.

The way my friends and family roll is all for one and one for all. If I buy the booze then someone else is guaranteed to buy the ganja. I use the phrase "Don't worry about it" alot. We're not stingy, we don't hoard. When one of us has a party, you can expect hospitality and you can expect everything to be free.

The way we think about it is like this: When we're older, how are we going to act? Are we going to be selfish? Are we going to be miserly? Or are we going to be the hospitable people that we were raised to be?

You know you are right about Karma. This person has had all of the bad karma in the family because of what she does.

About the stingy part. What do you do if you are living check to check every month.Someone robs you and it is difficult to get through?

Excellent points about later in life.

Edit:My sister ripped of me, my mom and a friend for $130 dollars. Why am I so trusting of her!?!

I got to go now.See you later.

It's your sister; your family. If you can't trust your family, who can you trust?

That said, I know not to give one of my brothers money and expect it back. But hell, I love my brother and though I may act like it, I really don't give a **** if he pays me back. I know he would fight and die for me and I would do the same. When you have a bond like that, who cares about money?

Yes she is my sister but when she does this constantly what am I to do?

She asked for the food stamp card back on Halloween she took it went to a Halloween party and I haven't seen her since.I let her borrow money back on the 20th she said she would pay me back. When I gave her the money she was on the right track. Then she pulls this ****.This isn't the first time she has done this.

Nope. I made the mistake of getting my news off gonintendo which linked to that other site that DIDNT give a link to an original article, which is why its so vague. Thats all besides the point though, does it really matter what game they were playing?

Yeah, paris is chock full of assholes. It's also chock full of smelly people. Still, I had a hell of a time there. And the french accent on an already gorgeous woman is to die for.

You know...I feel Asians wouldn't be able to handle a lot of places if they can't handle the French. There are many cities and countries where the locals treat tourists like **** and Asians are pretty easy to spot as tourists. I can't imagine them having fun in Lebanon or Italy.

I just found out that my fifteent-year-old niece was raped. About seven am in the morning on tuesday I got a call from my sister telling me to pick her up and take to the hospital. A few hours later my sister called me back and told me the news. Several detectives were in the room asking her questions and an ezamination took place. The guy was a 19-year-old and from what people tell me he has skiped town. Myself, my brother-in-law and his brothers were going to pay this guy a visit, but I am too sick to my stomach to even eat.
