NO NO NOT NOW NOT WHEN IM 47 STARS IN THE GAME NOOOOOOOOOOO
« on: November 17, 2007, 07:55:26 AM »
Turned on my Wii today to continue more Galaxy goodness and found a Wii corrupt memory error.

Negatives:
All game saves will be gone
All Miis are gone
All Channels and Vc games will be gone but able to redownload

Positives:
Nintendo is paying for it to ship there and back
It crapped out 2 days before the warranty expired
Nintendo is giving me an additional year warranty meaning it will be good until Nov17, 2008

This is a totally different experience from my Nintendo Ds lite issue I had in the other thread forum.  In that case Nintendo barely acknowledged my warranty and made me spend money on shipping it there.  Then once it got there I had to argue for them to fix it for free. . .

So I am slightly upset and happy about this.  Also worth mentioning was that a friend of mine's Galaxy save was on the console as well.  We just decided to play it together on his Wii via 2p co op mode to catch up where we were.

So uh darkheart... does this mean you'll have a new friendcode?

Out of curiosity, when did it give this corrupt memory error?  Just when you turn it on?  Could you get to the menus at all?  If you could, a format may have solved your issue.

If you sent your Wii in and had it replaced under warranty, do you get a new warranty for the new system?

That is what the representative on the phone wanted me to do in the first place but unfortunately after the safety screen it would go straight to the corrupt memory screen.  My Wii has been glitchy/buggy since I bought it at launch anyways where it would occasionally freeze or reset the system on its own so its sorta good it gets done now.

I am not sure if this is their policy with all cases but it is certainly what they are doing with mine.  However when I had my Ds lite replaced that was that.  They never offered me an extended warranty of sorts when they repaired  that one. . .

time to back up those saves that are important to you to SD card...

of course new friend code must mean new system, and new system means they have to transfer your account of all the VC games you bought to the new system...courious to see how that plays out

Friend codes are meaningless, except for transferring Miis.

None of Nintendo's games have used the Wii friend list.

Big Brain Academy. And Metroid I think. Plus Smash Bros might.

I am more curious about my internet channel, I am not going to pay for it when I originally got it for free.

Sony is the new leader in hardware quality confirmed.

Seriously, though, Wii seems to be by far the most problematic piece of hardware Nintendo has ever put out.  I'm disappointed.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Yet another indication that the Wii is the spiritual successor to the NES.
