As long as Square continues to have a huge hard on for Cloud like they've had for the last 10 years I don't think we'll be seeing Crono any time soon.

Geno definitely has the best chance of being Squenix's guest character at this point...

Definitely. Not only was he on Sakurai's list he ranked very high on the opinion poll. While I wish they used one of Square's own characters to represent the company Geno IS a very worthy character as he represents the first time Nintendo and Square collaborated. Plus Mario RPG rocks your socks.

But, can Squeenix pass up the advertising opportunity that is putting a DQ character in?

I could see Geno as an assist trophy.

As I've said before, if they pick a Square Enix character, I'd bet on it being Cloud. He's popular and extremely marketable. The fanboy in me would love to see Crono or Geno, but let's face it, Nintendo is more likely to choose 3rd party characters that will potentially make them money. Anything non-Nintendo in Brawl will be instantly recognizable to gamers.

While that may be true you have to remember that Nintendo is pursuing characters that have appeared on a Nintendo console at least ONCE. Cloud appeared in "Chain of memories", yes, but that was a very small and almost insignificant cameo appearance. He wasn't even FFVII's Cloud, he was an alternate version of the character.

Finally, Sora, Geno and Mallow have a MUCH better chance of being in the game due to being on both Sakurai's list and the opinion poll.

Yes, I realize that, but at the same time, they don't seem to be upholding that rule strictly if Snake is anything to go by. Don't get me wrong. I'm not dying to see Cloud in the game. I think he'd make a nice addition but there are many other 3rd party characters I'd rather see and deserve a spot far more. Sora is very much a possibility however, Cloud is far more popular. Brawl won't have any trouble selling, but if I were Nintendo, I'd pick Cloud based on sales potential alone even if he's there by a technicality.

And I'll give you Sora, but not Geno and Mallow. They're too obscure and part of a series that is very well represented in Smash Bros. already. Maybe Assist Trophies, but not playable.

I feel like, if there were anything from SquEnix in this game, we'd have heard about it already. I do think that Sora is probably the most likely candidate for a playable character... although I could also see them going for "Black Mage" or one of the other retro ones, a la Mario Hoops.

"They're too obscure"

Apparently not obscure enough, considering Geno was the highest ranking 3rd party character in the poll...As for Assist Trophies, I don't see any 3rd party characters not represented in the roster having anything to do with them...

We're not going to see any new franchise characters until after the game is released.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's an AC character in the game, but we're not going to hear about it or any other new franchise until after launch.

Hasn't anyone else noticed that we've yet to see any new franchise characters revealed yet via the blod updates? I'd love to be wrong and see a new franchise tomorrow, but I highly suspect we won't see anyone new until post launch.

OK, I'm confused...Are you saying that we won't get any new franchises in Brawl or that we won't see any new franchise characters till AFTER the game is released?

You're basing this on a poll? Polls don't represent everyone and the people who did vote, probably voted multiple times to skew results.

Geno and Mallow are Mario universe characters........ If Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is anything to go by, Nintendo would need Square-Enix's permission to use them, but they're still considered Mario series characters. So yeah, they're very well represented in the roster even if they're technically owned by Square-Enix.

I don't think they're going to reveal new franchise characters until after launch. I'm sure there are more.

I'd LOVE to see some new ones, but the fact that we haven't seen any yet makes me doubt it.

Oh, I see.

Technically, we have already seen new to SSB franchises like Wario Ware, Nintendogs, Big Brain Academy and to an extend Kid Icarus.

Although, new franchise characters could be treated as secret characters and if its true they will keep them a secret then you might be right...

Not to mention the symbolic middle finger to Sony in revenge for 'taking' away the franchise in the first place (even if that's not technically accurate). But that would be a good omen. If PS3 can't even keep its old franchises exclusive (in this case, the flagship characters of its PSx FF line), how compelling can it make its new ones seem? I'm sure there are marketing people at all three companies that are aware of this issue.

Of course I don't mean the ones which have already been shown.

I mean that I expect the ones being revealed on the dojo are all starting lineup characters and we'll probably run out of them soon.

(watch a new franchisee pop up this week now...)

Apparently, Bowser was too broken and bruised so he had Pit stand in for him to get HIS ass kicked instead this time.

I wonder what the benefit is for shooting at the feet as opposed to the body, or perhaps even the head if an up smash could accomplish that, is, that is assuming that I am reading it right and its the same move and you just press down before the shot comes out to use a foot shot. I am guessing that foot shooting is more like an angled shot to be used from the edge of a platform, thus giving Zamus pretty good edge gaurding ability.

I also wonder if the side special is going to be like Sheik's in that you can move the whip once it has been brought out.

It also feels that the plasma wire may be kind of like an inverted Thunder.

Zero Suit Samus, is the new sex symbol for Nintendo.  Just look at her.  Nintendo needs to make more games with Samus out of her Chozo Power Suit.

I would love a real Metroid 0, that tells the story of Samus actually getting the suit for the first time.  She could start out with Zero Armor and just her stun gun, and then upgrade from there.  Eventually getting a fully powered Chozo Suit.  That would be awesome.

Oh and Kirby's Final smash is final revealed too.
