Gamebryo Named Finalist for 2004 Frontline Awards

NDL's 3D Graphics Engine and Tools Named a Finalist for Game Developer Magazine Award

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., (December 21, 2004) – NDL's Gamebryo® graphics engine and tools has been named a finalist for the "2004 Frontline Awards" presented by Game Developer magazine.  NDL is a past "Frontline Awards" winner in 1999 with NetImmerse, the predecessor to Gamebryo.  Gamebryo enables developers to easily generate stunning 3D graphics and focus their expertise on creating compelling content and great game play.

"We are delighted to be recognized as one of the leading 3D graphics technology developers," said John Austin, president and chief executive officer of NDL.  "We want to thank our many customers – it is their great games that validate our underlying technology.  The features in Gamebryo 1.2 that led to this recognition are largely driven by feedback and ideas we get from them.  As an independent provider of development tools we can take full advantage of a broad range of customer input."

The key enhancements in Gamebryo 1.2 are a significant upgrade to the animation system and a completely rewritten animation tool.  "Artists can more intuitively and quickly augment the animation capabilities of 3ds max and Maya and determine exactly how their assets will perform in game", said Lars Bishop, chief technology officer of NDL. "We continue to improve performance, add features, and optimize the core Gamebryo engine.  Our two priorities during the next year will be to take full advantage of the next generation platforms and to continue to create more powerful Gamebryo tools.  Each developer has a core technology, idea, or capability – we don't want to limit or restrict that – we want to enable them to spend more time making their game great."
