According to GameLife, supposedly an art booklet, history booklet and a soundtrack CD will also be included.

Sounding pretty good to me! Of course, I was one of those weirdos who liked the Mario anniversary collection.

Me too. On all counts.

I never had the SNES game. I'd never played Lost Levels before.  It was good stuff.

Calm the **** down.

Was that really necessary? Or even unhypocritical?

@Adrock

Well that sucks.  What kind of storage were you hoping for then?

If it supports SD Cards and/or USB sticks/hard drives, I don't give a crap about the internal storage. I'd much rather have that as an option than the hilariously overpriced Vita memory cards.

Preeeecisely!

@broodwars

And you've never needed one?

I think this is, more than anything, Nintendo placing its usual priority on crafting/controlling the game experience.  I don't agree with the method, but I think this excuse about frame rates is a ruse.

MM on 3DS pleeeeeeaaaassseeee!!!!

@Mataata

Because they have finite staff members and resources.  Magically as Nintendo may be, they are not a genie.  And if they were, that would make them a Game Genie... which as we all know, would make them property of Galoob.

@Phil

Exactly.  There are very few and unique circumstances in which I would EVER prefer to have digital copies of things if I had the choice.

@nickmatch

Yea, the 64 title is the deal maker for me so I'm really glad to see that included

@tamazoid

Thanks for the assist re:Kirby 64.

My thoughts:

1. I don't think we'll see a 3DS revision for a while.  I think Nintendo started to get a reputation with the DS and I think they want to end that.  After all, when the 3DS launched, many people didn't buy it because they thought "I'll just hold out for the redesign."  I think a fair number of people are still doing that actually.

2. Of course they are working on the 3DS successor.  Everyone knows every company begins working on the next hardware the day the previous hardware ships..... perhaps earlier! =P

3. I'm still hoping for a 3DS XL someday and I think that EVENTUALLY we'll see it.  The DSiXL is just a dream of a platform.  If I am going to be in the house and playing a DS game, I still play them on my XL because it's just so enjoyable.

My wife is actually also eagerly awaiting a 3DS XL to be released because that means she gets my original 3DS! ... probably. ;-)

Quote
“Once you start getting into game-specific [achievements] that’s developer driven.” Although the companies like Microsoft may require every game to have Achievements, Fils-Aime remarked, “That is not our philosophy.”

Thank god!!

I promise this is much ado about nothing.

I promise we'll be able to save at least SOME things to the system.  I also promise that saving large items will be done to a USB hard drive of any size we like... thus not having to pay for a more expensive console.

Raise your hand if you DON'T have a USB harddrive and plan to download a lot of digital content.... anyone?

Looks good to me!!

What titles were some of the more jaded folks hoping to see?

115
I think the 3DS VC would actually be the perfect place for a Harvest Moon.  I've never played one but as far as I know it would be the perfect "down time" kind of game.

Nice to see the eShop continue to flourish.

Now now NinTemple fearless leader  :cool;  hope for the best!  ;D

You are correct, of course.

All I was really hoping for was Kirby 64.  So, assuming this is true, the purchase is justified for me.

News from the Future:

"More interesting 3rd party title not coming to Wii U due to lower BlOps2 sales compared to PS3/60"

In other words, I'm very excited to see third parties making an effort.  They just have to COMMIT this time! Follow through!

I only understood half the words in that title.

hahaha +1

Great write-up, Neal! I could really get a sense of the gameplay from how you described it.

I think a lot of folks are more excited for this 3DS title than the console sequel.  It just looks like simple platforming fun but with that unique hook in the paint/thin/draw mechanic.

2 last points...

1. DreamRift can do no wrong.

2. I've said it before, I'll say it again: 2D assets and parallax scrolling are (so far) the absolute pinnacle of the glasses-free 3D effect.  I think more people are starting to realize that and I would be delighted if it ushers in some kind of 2D renaissance!

I JUST beat EM1 for the first time.  As everyone else in the world has said, it was great but severely flawed.

It's sad to here that there are still some camera issues in the 2nd game.  But, I really think EM2 will be an upgrade on an already enjoyable experience.

Neal, glad you found Trine 2 so satisfying on Wii U!

I am extremely interested in this game but I am not crazy about the character design.  I'm sure I'll end up buying it eventually!

Just a quick poll for the room ...

What seems more likely:

A) Nintendo has finally made a boring Mario game.
B) There are secrets, twists, layers of goodness that we probably won't fully know about until we play the game.
