I thought that the Nintendo Wii would be the second coming of the NES
turned out it was the second coming of the Atari.

Right now its too early to tell with the Wii's sucessor, let's come back to this discussion when e3 rolls around.

I think a single stick of high quality 4gb ram would be more than enough, as far as i know the 360 doesn't have more than 1 gb
anyways i bet that the price of flash cards would fall faster to be feasable than excessive ram. I still think that this discussion will be rendered moot by digital downloads and SSDs in 2 generations though, I mean as a PC gamer i haven't bought retail since 2006 thanks to steam

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Soul Calibur 2 GC - still worth it?

it's definitely worth it. It's soul calibur and It has Link, what's not to like?
it's aged pretty well so i don't think you'll have an issue getting into it

I played this game and it was awesome :D
but yeah the ending was pretty bad

the price point issue wasnt regarding your point but rather the other ongoing argument that's hapening in this thread.
as far as your suggestion goes it seems kind of impractical the size of the files arent that big and it's simply more convientent to have them on the onboard storage. I guess if you're nostalgic for cartridges fine but its kind of a waste of money to have to buy all those extra SD cards just to put one game on it, anyways if you were to do that there are ebay sellers that stock empty game cases for DS and you can print your own boxart if you want to. It's basically what i did with my wiisports game sleeve

Would anyone like to do this?

not really. as for the whole sd cartridge vrs discs I'd say we'd have to wait about 1 or 2 more generations for them to be super cheap and have lots of storage for the idea to work, Nintendo also has to drop those old school policies. Seriously though, by then downloadable games (like steam) will be all the rage.

Besides, it's just plain fun to yell, "OBJECTION!"

i still stand by my guess, most places i've seen reporting that quote all link to the same source (that link) and as Ceric said I'd rather wait until a direct quote.
I dont see it launching anytime outside of 4th quarter so that leaves 2012 or 2011, and i have a hard time believing nintendo would wait that long. If they said that they were going to have games ready to go in a playable state at e3 then that means that any launch games would be pretty far along.

If im wrong though, no big deal i have a pretty big games backlog right now anyways

Here is a design someone else made and I tweaked

looks pretty slick, just replace cirlcle pads with normal sticks and I'd be happy if that was the final design

well the chart is for total income so you can see the line going up at the end of fiscal 2007 the reason why the line isn't over 0 is because they haven't recouped the total losses

I'm going to guess November 19th 2011 at $349.99 for basically all the reasons Chozo Ghost listed. With the 3ds they were actually aiming for a holiday 2010 release, Everyone knows that anytime outside of q4 isn't the best time to launch a system but they only released it on march because they were forced to in order to make the fiscal year to please investors. Judging on the abysmal release schedule for q2 its pretty clear that nintendo is allready making way for the new system, why would they shut off the tap if the system launch is 1 1/2 years away? as for the projections its very likely they wont pin-point a price until after e3 and cant responsibly add those numbers in.

At e3 they will probably announce a vague "Holiday 2011" release.

on an emotional standpoint i agree, the mainstream gaming "media" and developers always find a reason to take a dump on nintendo's consoles. Logically though at the end of the day its just business, they do what helps the bottom line and if they don't see the nintendo platforms as a profitable system to develop for they will stay clear, this generation they saw the casual market and produced tons of half assed mini game collections because thats what made money. It was like the modern day Atari: a popular system but a large chunk of the games were shovelware and crowded out the quality 3rd party stuff which in turn told developers that only shovelware sold it was kind of like an endless cycle

I know this is/was a psp2 mockup but im thinking based on the rumours it could end up looking like this

that way it can be both a tablet and a screen controller at the same time, then add some dreamcast handles like mentioned before so its not unconfortable to hold (and make the analog nubs into 3ds analogue sticks)

and since this is all a crazy fantasy they could use the 3-d tech from the 3ds screens hahaha
