Welcome to our fair city of Soleanna. We are normally a peaceful town but recently our princess has been kidnapped by some loud guy with a weird looking mustache and now there's a weird looking two tailed Fox running around. What is going on around here?

This is a day Zero thread. The only person who can do anything is the detective who can do a Day Zero investigation.

So the whole point of Day 0 is just to check in and give the cop time to investigate. It's a pretty useless time since there's usually no voting and nothing learned. Like a useless Day 1.

Why not just give the Detective 2 investigations on Day 1 instead of this Day 0? Or do you only give the detective investigations at night? In my superior Mario games, we give them during the day phase.

It's certainly a risky way to go, but Stogi managed to win the game as the killer last time going that way.

I thought about building that in as a hidden game feature in one of my games, where if they voted the host out I would then pass the reigns to someone else. It could then be a "god is dead" situation. Though the new host would have to be someone very good at hosting and the game would need to be balanced for making one player the host.


I would probably pass duties to a skilled player who is still alive, and I would still be the "mouthpiece" of the game, where everything has to be dictated to me by the new host. Only catch would be I could not lie in any way.

Vote Pokepal148 lets make this a game feature to simulate development hell where the course of the project is changed half way through due to executive meddling.

No. The townies lose because players like nickmitch decide to lay low for half the game and not vote and then they show up on Day 4 or 5 and start telling the remaining players to suddenly trust and listen to them on how to vote but they've given the players no reason to trust them at that point since they've provided no post or votes to indicate what side they're on.

Seeing that backfire for nickmitch was a highlight of the last game for me. That strategy didn't pay off at all and I'm hoping we don't see a repeat of that again this game.

Sonic 06 might have the best soundtrack for a really awful game. I can't think of any others at the moment. Sorry for bursting in here with that thought! :X

Look in the Mafia Hall of Fame and the game 1 thread links to learn the rules and follow a game in action. Or look through my Animal Kingdom game that was recently played and that might help. Personally, I thought I had an idea of how it worked before playing but just jumping in and finding out on the fly is the best teacher and how I learned to play.
