except tahst what Sega did with Satrun, the limited the pre launch to select retailers and pissed off a lot of others in the process. But selling direct woudl also be bad for them because that would push more retailers away and sqeeze them more into that Niche market they are trying to avoid.

It would be nice to have a couple of stickers with the Nintendo logo. (Kinda like what Apple does). I'd gladly put one of the stickers next to the Apple one on my car.

Pre orders should get a "Special edition" sticker or a poster or a free download or something to that effect.
But i dont think Nintendo needs to resort to crappy marketing tactics like Sony/Microsoft, who use prerendered graphics, exagerated numbers, and purposely undersupply stores to claim a "sellout" when there wernt many to go around anywhere.

Nintendo needs to have an advertizing strategy in all territories ala the "Think Different" campaign...or even the first few DS ads. Then, team up with companies like McDonalds to promote the console with free giveaways like games, controllers,etc..... ensure logistics can deliver consoles to high demand areas (urban centers). deliver preorders on time....and have a healthy library in as many retail outlets (Walmart, Kmart, EB,  etc) as possible.

A healthy supply should be maintained to ensure those who want one get one, or they could just as easily get a PS3 or XB360 if they wanted to.

As far as marketing....KISS applies.....keep it simple stupid.

Cheers

Umm no, There are sticker in Nintendo Power and I want something cool for perordering the revo, like a golden triforce logo/color on the side of revo or a t-shrit. And nintendo is aiming at get lol of system at launch because they couldn't make enough cube and that hurt the start of the sales and its hyw, and the ds had lot of units at launch and that didn't hurt its sales/hype.

I would love a shirt too.  The thing is to keep it simple.  The tour idea is a good thing but I think that an equal oppurtunity launch would be better.  Let the press get theirs early and have a giveway to have the Fusion tour come to your neighborhood and be the first regular citizen to own a Revolution.  That Sound the best to me.

Ok, if you can find me a place without an abused DS then they should get the Rev demo kiosk early because they are obviously watching there consoles. :-P Good Luck...

(On a side note I was probably the first person in my town to get a DS, midnight at Walmart first to get one.  Without any protection unless you look at my bottom screen just right you couldn't tell it wasn't new.  Trust me it's been played.)

The shirts should be limited edition and have something really cool on them.
It must must be known that only a true Nintendo fan would posses this shirt.

Maybe something retro.  Or something nice showing you are with the "Reggie-lution" or whatever  the marketing is. (Though who would be interested in Reggie-lution shirts and like to wear to launch?)

I hate the shirts that Nintendo always gives out.

They're never in a 2XL size... (I'm not hefty by any means, but I have broad shoulders).

Bah... Give me cool toys.  Or e-Reader cards.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

Only if they make or build in an e-Reader for Revolution.  Which ironically enough would make the buying of Game downloads on cards much much more feasibly and easier on everyone.
