IGN games of the year awards are out
« on: December 20, 2005, 07:18:15 AM »
They're out and I have to say I agree with most of it.  Might comment more later.
EDIT: They decided the best of [insert genre here] games.  I thought it was intersting because it was dominated by Nintendo and Capcom - and I want to say Capcom took more awards.  What does this say for Nintendo software?  Not anything necessarily b/c it was the year of RE4, but I want conflict!
DK JB is starting to finally come down in price so I might get to it soon.

What did they say?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Hahaha, Viewtiful Joe for most innovative DS game. Punching crap over and over with bullet time is pretty innovative in 2005.

Oh but you know, the used the second screen to have a zooming in view of the other screen. WHO WOULDA THOUGHT OF THAT?
So anyway I was in the shopping center demanding to know where they kept the western potatoes when Drive Safe came around with Simple Plan blaring out telling me that driving on the wrong side of the road is ok if the other guy is drunk while I immediately jumped on my dirt racer to zoom out of ther

I don't think they would deny that the original Viewtiful Joe was exceptionally innovative. However, after further incarnations and a DS version that didn't really innovate using the DS's interface, this game didn't deserve the award. Certainly when you compare it to, say, Kirby, Nintendogs, Meteos, and Yoshi...

Well the tip off was really that EWT doesn't understand the significance of Zooming in swapping mechanism - therefore my hypothesis in my previous post.  Ice, I honestly don't think most of those games you just mentioned were particularly innovative concepts either...

And Battlefield 1942 mops the floor with Battlefield 2, I nominate Battlefield 1942 for the game of the year.... three years ago!

Though as far as innovation goes on the DS ,off the top of my head, Trauma Center: Under the Knife seems to be the most innovative.

Battlefield 2 was released this year. If we could vote for past games I'd have a huge list I'd vote for before choosing any game released in 2005.

Do you guys really care what Spike TV says, when most of the committee is filled with celebrities that don't know what "gg" means?
Common opinions aren't facts.
