It looks like Luigi Dude and broodwars both played all the TMNT games. I am going to start that collection soon, but will just be playing one game every once in a while I wanted to start with Turtles in Time, but and deciding between the SNES version and arcade version. I am guessing the arcade version looks nicer, but the SNES version is better balanced for completing without needing unlimited lives/credits. What are your thoughts on the better at home experience?

The SNES version is better.  It's got an extra level, and is much better balanced game.  For one, the SNES version lets you actually do the move where the Turles grab an enemy and smash them left and right, which is great for handling situations when you're being swarmed by enemies.  In the Arcade version that move just randomly happens.  The SNES version also lets you double tap to run in the options menu, while in the Arcade version you have to move for a while before you start to auto run.  The double tap to run is a much better option for trying to get away from bosses attacks and larger groups of enemies.  It also adds some new boss fights that are better then what's in the Arcade version as well.  You'll need to beat Hard mode to get the ending, but you can set the game to let you have up to 7 lives and 5 continues so even Hard mode is still very beatable.

The Arcade game is cheap, even by Arcade standards.  The better you're playing, the more enemies will keep spawning on screen until it reaches a point where you'll be overwhelmed.  If the Arcade version let you do that enemy slam move at will this would make it more doable, but since that move just randomly happens in the Arcade, it pretty much means you have to rely more on luck then skill.  This is why the games pretty notorious for being almost impossible to 1CC, even among the very hardcore.

Of course since you can just keep spamming credits to win, the Arcade game will take less then an hour your first time through so it'll still be worth playing just too see the differences between it and the SNES version.  The sprites and animations are better so it's worth a playthrough to see what a pretty version of Turtles in Time looks like.

Xenoblade 3 is on the not finished list since I started the game in mid November and am still playing it.  I've currently at about 120 hours in the game so it's pretty much been taking up my time the last 2 months.

I imagine we'll still have Shrines or something similar to them since those were great rewards for exploration and were mostly well liked.  The biggest complaints were too many Test of Strength shrines and the music and look of the Shrines being the same.  I'd imagine Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom will probably have a variety of looks and music to help make them feel more unique, and the Test of Strength Shrines will either be greatly reduced, or have a much larger variety of enemies to fight so they don't all feel too similar as well.

The size of any underground area will probably depend on how big the Sky sections will be.  If the Sky Islands end up equaling a size similar to Hyrule then I have a hard time seeing an equally large underground section.  Even if normal Hyrule has remained mostly unchanged, creating all those brand new area's in the Sky is still a large task for the developers.

Even though they've been working on this for close to 6 years, that would still be a massive undertaking to create 2 completely new worlds and still update the existing Hryule.  Now I imagine new caves will have been created for the original Hyrule to give new things to find there but I don't know how doable it will be to have a giant underground section comparable to other area's.

I think part of the reason for this game taking so long is because we'll be getting some massive dungeons this time.  The biggest complaint about BOTW was the Divine Beast weren't a good substitute for traditional dungeons, so I think the Zelda team has found a way to make some massive dungeons like the previous games, but still make them work with the open world gameplay of BOTW.  That's the part I'm most interested in seeing what they've done for this game.

Of course Zelda is the only one I'll be buying at launch for full price since I still have a huge backlog.  Hell, over the holiday season I won a $500 gift card at work and bought about 20 games on the eShop holiday sale using that thing, and I still have about $300 left on it.  I still have over 60 games on my wish list I haven't bought yet.  This is why I don't give a **** what games come out what year since there's so many games to play I'll never run out.

Oh and this list is missing a ton of indie games.  I mean just today Vengeful Guardian Moonrider came out and looks amazing.  I'll probably take a break from Xenoblade 3 to play this since the developer, JoyMasher, previous games, Oniken, Odallus and Blazing Chrome were all great as well.

Don’t really think anyone is anticipating this game at all, honestly.

…okay, so jokes aside, I’m pretty stunned at how little we actually know of the gameplay and narrative for this game. We didn’t really know much about the original BotW prior to launch but we had some idea of what gameplay would be like. I think the excuse for this is very similar to Super Mario Galaxy 2: this game is a sequel. Because it is not a “new” title, it will rely heavily on the gameplay functions of its predecessor and maybe add some new, minor elements. I imagine this game will be about vertical exploration in comparison with BotW’s horizontal traversal. Which is fine.

We do know about some of the new gameplay from Nintendo's patents they filed for the game over a year ago.  One patent allows Link to phase through platforms from below the surface which they showed in one of the trailers.  Another patent showed the ability to rewind time on objects, which was also shown in a trailer when Link has a bolder move back up a hill.  The last one was for Link to be able to move into different positions when aiming the bow while free-falling.

Jeez I screwed myself out of points last year once again by going into too much detail.  Seriously, need to be brief this year to get the win.

1.  No Switch successor will be released in 2023
2.  A new 2D Mario game will be revealed
3.  A new 2D Zelda will be revealed
4.  A DLC expansion for Pokemon SV will come out
5.  The rumored new Donkey Kong platformer will finally be revealed.  Not going to predict if it'll be 2D or 3D though since I think it could go either way.
6.  Kid Icarus Uprising HD remaster announced
7.  Regular Gameboy and Gameboy Color get added to basic NSO, while Gameboy Advanced title will be part of the Expansion Pack.
8.  The Metroid Prime 1 HD remaster is finally announced
9.  An HD remaster of F-Zero GX will be announced
10.  A new Wario Land from Good Feel will be announced

Prime 4 is turning into Duke Nukem Forever

Not exactly.  The original developer was Bandai Namco who screwed things up so badly, the entire project had to be rebooted from scratch.  Retro themselves have been working on the game since late 2018/early 2019, which is only 4 years now.  The game will probably be out in 2024 which would give it a 5 year development cycle from Retro which is pretty normal from some of the more ambitious 3D games Nintendo releases.

The only reason I didn't predict a Prime 4 trailer this year is because part of my does wonder if the game might have been moved to the Switch successor.  The Switch successor is probably coming out in the 2nd half of 2024, so if Prime 4 has been moved to it, we won't see any trailers until early 2024.

Microsoft has a ton of their own IP's they don't do anything with.  Anyone who thinks Microsoft will care about the more obscure Activision properties is going to be very disappointment.

Good, companies like Microsoft shouldn't be allowed to buy up large sections of the industry.  Yeah everyone talks about how great Phil Spencer is but he's not going to be head of Microsoft's gaming division forever.  As we've seen time and time again, large Western companies love to do complete 180's when someone new is in charge. 

Does anyone want Microsoft owning half the industry when some like Don Mattrick is in charge again who will have no problem gutting many of the studio's they've bought these last few years and pushing crap like always online, mandatory Kinect and no used games.

Hell, what's to stop Phil Spencer himself from doing this a decade from now if Microsoft gets to a point where they own so much of the industry he doesn't have to pretend to be a nice guy anymore.  Seriously, Microsoft history is filled with so much shady **** I don't trust anyone from that company.

In that regards, I decided to tackle my first Fire Emblem game with Fates: Birthright earlier this year. I was playing it pretty steady at first and then slowed down and trailed off around Chapter 21. The story became pretty filler after a strong start and I was trying to keep partnering people to progress the little conversations they can have with each other and ended up just killing interest in it.

However, I'm not too concerned with playing the Fire Emblem games in order of North American release. But this does remind me that I should get Revelations before the eShop closes in the hopes Conquest and Revelations are indeed better than Birthright.

The gameplay in Conquest and Revelations is indeed better then Birthright.  If I had to score the 3 Fates games they'd go like this.

Conquest - 9/10
Revelations - 8/10
Birthright - 7/10

Conquest in particular is easily one of the best games I played this year.  I was playing the game on Hard mode with perma death turned on and lost some of my best characters right before the last chapter.  Beating the last chapter alone took me about 10 hours, and for awhile I thought I was completely screwed but eventually I created an epic suicide charge that basically cost the lives of almost my entire team, but I was able to protect my main character and his wife who was paired with him, with their stats boasted by every item I had left so that they could successfully kill the final boss.

That was probably my top gaming moment of the year.

The only game on that list I've played is Shredder's Revenge so that will get my vote by default.  Of course it was still a very enjoyable game that did a good job of modernizing the TMNT beat-em-up formula.  I would rank it number 3 in my list of TMNT games with Manhattan Project for NES as my favorite and Turtles in Time for SNES as my second favorite.  The overall gameplay of Shredder's Revenge is great with combat being very fluid and it's got an amazing soundtrack, but the game is very unbalanced.  The normal mode is way too easy and the hard mode while overall is better, has several sections and boss fights that are fundamentally broken making it pretty frustrating at times.

Seriously, you can't tell me they playtested Level 13 on Arcade mode and said, "Yeah this is fine."  The boss of that level on Hard mode is such broken garbage that I almost stopped playing.  Hell, the only way I was able to eventually beat it was by every time I played the game unless I was playing well enough to the point where I thought I could get to Level 13 with at least 4 lives, I'd restart the whole game.  I need at least 2 lives to beat the boss of that level and the rest of that level usually kills me at least once, so unless I can get there with 4 lives, I'd be fucked since the default 3 lives that you have when you use a continue just wasn't enough.

Actually, I wonder if I'm one of the few crazy enough to even beat Arcade mode on Hard.  When I finally beat it, my score on the Switch leaderboards has me at number 195 for solo hard mode scores. I see on Steam, only 1.8% of people who bought the game beat Arcade mode on hard as well.  So I guess my complaints are something the average gamer isn't going to care about since most don't even seem to care about the Arcade mode, let alone its hardest setting.

The only games on that list I've played are Kirby and Xenoblade 3.  I do plan on playing Bayonetta 3 early next year.  I still have to play Splatoon 2 and the first Mario + Rabbids before I play their sequels.  I'll eventually get Live A Live but already have a big RPG backlog with Final Fantasy 7,8,9 and the Saga Gameboy Collection, as well as the remake of Saga 2 and 3.  Still need to play the remake of Trails of Mana as well since I loved the SNES original when I played it for the first time in Collection of Mana over 2 years ago.  Oh and then there's Octopath Traveler which is getting a sequel next year as well.

So yeah, I keep dragging my feet on RPG's since they take so long to play, which just keeps making my backlog of them more and more overwhelming.  I mean I finally played all 3 Fire Emblem Fate games this year and together they ended up taking over 130 hours to do, which makes it my most played game of the year with Shin Megami Tensei 4 being the 2nd most played game with over 110 hours into as well.  Which reminds me I still need to play Fire Emblem Echo's and Shin Megami Tensei 4 Apocalypse for the 3DS, before I can play Three Houses and SMT 5 on the Switch.

So yeah I'll finally get to play Live A Live around 2030.

Anyway, getting back to the two games I've played this year that are on this list, it's basically a coin flip between Kirby and Xenoblade 3.  I currently still playing Xenoblade 3 so I'm not going to vote just yet.  I would say that Kirby is the much better balance experience being way more consistent from beginning to end, but Xenoblade 3 has had some higher highs so far.  The game just took forever to finally get started, but ever since the entire battle system finally opened up I've been having a blast.  Lets see how I still feel about the game a week from now.

The last 2 weeks I played through the Castlevania Advanced Collection again.  I play the 3 GBA games on it earlier this year, but stopped after completing the normal modes on each one.  Now I came back to do some of the more advanced modes.

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon

Finally played Magician mode that gives you all the cards from the start.  This is basically speedrun mode since having some of the cards the late game enemies drop lets you just rush though the game.  No seriously, one of the abilities makes your body unable to be injured and lets you just run though all the enemies.  Now you wont get any experience from them, but it doesn't matter since when you fight the bosses, you can just spam the Thunderbird summon to cheese all the bosses and the experience they give you will easily catch you up.  When I beat Dracula, my overall level was only a few levels lower then my normal playthrough, despite being several hours less.

Then I did Fighter mode, and this mode is basically easy mode.  Your whip attack is buffed up so much, most enemies die in a few hits, and your defense is so high can take a ton of damage now.  Plus even though it's called Fighter mode, the Cross item also has it's attack power buffed up and just destroys bosses.  Seriously, the bosses in Fighter mode died faster with spamming the Cross item then the bosses in Magician mode did by spamming the Thunderbird summon.  I also didn't die in any of the bosses except for my first time in the Dracula fight, while in Magician mode I still died several time in some of the bosses including several times against Dracula, since Magician mode nerfs your defense a lot so if you do Thunderbird at the wrong time, the boss could kill you once you lose the invincibility frames.  Fighter mode on the other hand you can just stand next to the bosses and keep spamming Cross, and if you get hit it wont really matter since your defense is so high you can afford to take the hits since the bosses will be dead before they even have a change to kill you.  The only boss that can still kill you in this mode is Dracula since if you don't time you jumps and Cross throws right, the bats that circle the eye can still catch you off guard like they did my first time, but the second time I was ready and easily got it.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

This is my first time playing Soma Hard Mode.  Well it certainly makes the game up until the Death boss fight harder.  Had to be more careful in during this time since enemies and bosses take more damage and cause it.  After the Death boss fight though, you can then gain access so some of the best weapons and armor in the game and at this point have plenty of money to buy lots of potions at the shop, so the second half isn't really that much harder then normal mode.

Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance

Did this games Hard mode as well and it's pretty much the same situation as Aria.  The first half of the game is noticeable harder then the normal game, but the second half isn't really that much different.  I still have to wonder how the developers didn't notice how cheap potions cost at the shop and didn't even try to put a limit on how many could be bought.  I guess if you do a Hardmode run and refuse to buy potions from the shop, it would be a pretty challenging game the whole way through.  Of course the fight with Maxim at the end is such cheap BS, that the game is pretty much encouraging you to buy potions.  The fact the Maxim fight is the one boss fight that's not in the Boss Rush mode shows you even the devs realized how terrible that thing was, and took it out since it would have made Boss Rush mode impossible had it remained in.

So yeah, that's it for the GBA Castlevania games.  I'll eventually do Sniper and Thief mode in Circle of the Moon, as well as Julius Hardmode and Maxim mode in their respective games.  But right now I'm burnt out on Metroidvania's.

This makes me wonder what your favorite Metroidvania is (not counting Metroid or Castlevania games)?

Well my favorite non-Metroid or Castlevania game that could still be considered a Metroidvania would be Wario Land 3.  I mean it's got Wario unlocking new abilities to use to help access new area's in the games levels that are quite large and filled with multiple treasures to find in each one.  Yeah it isn't one giant interconnected world, but it's got everything else that can be considered a Metroidvania, even if it's a more platformer focused Metroidvania.  But still, the amount of gameplay variety in the game is insane and pulls off what it's trying to do very well.

Of course Wario Land 3 is not the most fair comparison since it's more of a platformer Metroidvania hybrid.  For a game that would be more comparable to the traditional Metroidvania's that focus more on action, I'd have to go with Shantae and the Pirates Curse.  It does the best job out of any non Metroid/Castlevania Metroidvania to incorporate new abilities into your moveset that not only help change the gameplay up, but make backtracking much smoother as well.

For some games that are more recent, I do think Monster Boy and the Curse Kingdom and Hollow Knight are also truly great Metroidvania style games.  My only problem with both of them is they have slow intro sections that go on longer then this type of game should and have other parts later in the game that drag on longer as well.  Other then that, they're both solid titles with a lot of great moments and gameplay variety.

Well this game fits this theme pretty well.  It's one of those indie Souls inspired Metroidvania games, so of course it's filled with creepy and grim dark imagery all around.  The pixel art and sprites look great so the presentation is top notch.  That was one of the reasons I had had my eye on this game for quite a while.  I finally played and beat it earlier this month, and for the most part it was pretty fun, but it does suffer from some annoying flaws that keep it from being truly great.

The biggest problem is despite it being a Metroidvania, you don't really gain any new abilities that change the gameplay and how you move.  Yeah there's some new attacks you can unlock but there's nothing like what an actual Metroid or IGA Castlevania give you in terms of increasing your mobility, which makes the backtracking in the second half of the game very tedious.  The gameplay also feels very repetitive in the second half as well since because of the lack of new gameplay abilities, nothing really spices up the core gameplay like other Metroidvania games will do all throughout.

The combat for the most part was pretty fun, but once again it would have been nice if they gave you more options.  The Dash attack you unlock it very useful, but the charge and downward strike you unlock are almost pointless since the charge time on both of them ends up leaving you open to attacks more often then not.  It also sucks that even when you upgrade your swords attack power, even some of the most basic enemies at the early parts of the game stick take several hits to kill.  This once again makes backtracking tedious since you cant just easily dispose of most enemies when going back to old area's.

Speaking of the difficulty, the game starts out pretty challenging but gets much easier in the second half.  It's kind of weird because some of the earlier bosses you fights love to shoot a lot of **** at you from all over the screen, but then the later bosses have simpler patterns that are easier to avoid.  It almost feels like the developers switched around the bosses and accidentally put the harder ones in the first half and the easier in the second.  Of course if you're trying to get the True Ending, there are 2 optional bosses that you'll need to beat that are pretty challenging, and if you do that, it makes the 2nd to last boss much more challenging as well.  Plus if you play the game on New Game +, there are 5 new optional bosses the game adds which were a nice challenge as well.

Oh, and anyone that wants to see the True Ending needs to use a guide.  The requirements are pretty much impossible to find on your own, and require you talking to a certain character before you fight a certain boss halfway through the game, or else you'll be completely locked out of that ending.  Also use a guide since the game does have things you can unlock that helps make traveling less tedious that the main game either does a terrible job at hinting at, or outright doesn't even tell you about.  This is why my second playthrough on NG + was way more enjoyable then my first, since I was able to cut down on a lot of the really tedious and boring stuff that trying to play blind in my first playthrough was filled with.

So overall it was a good game, that had the potential to be great.  I hear the developer is working on a sequel, so I look forward to seeing how they improve on this.

Supposedly, Schreier's seen actual documentation from Platinum employees proving these new assertions (and other outlets have corroborated his assertions with their own contacts), and if that's the case Hellena Taylor needs to do herself a legal favor and stop talking before she triggers a defamation lawsuit (let alone the damage this has and will do to her professional reputation).

At this point it could be too late.  The original video calling for a boycott already has around 10 million views.  If Platinums documents clearly state it was going to be 3-4k over at least 5 session, and Nintendo has evidence that there was a noticeable spike in pre-orders being canceled after she called for a boycott, it's a pretty open and shut case against her. 

We know Nintendo loves to make examples out of people.  They probably wont do it now because it just leads to people talking about something other then the gameplay, but I could sometime next year when sales of Bayonetta 3 have completely dried up since these games are usually pretty front loaded, they decided to show what happens to NDA breakers who try to boycott their games under false or misleading information.

Even though it's still one side vs the other, this new story does make it more believable why they had no problem replacing her with a bigger name actress.  Someone like Hale isn't taking this job for only 4k, but if Platinum was will to pay up to 20k, that seems more like what they'd have to pay to get someone of Hales status.  Plus Taylor did say the franchise has made over 450 million in profit when she has no access to those numbers so she already has exaggerated some of her claims.

I wouldn't be surprised if NCL sent their lawyers to Platinum first thing Monday morning to look over every document related to this case.  If she is outright lying about this, I suspect she's about to get a huge lawsuit from Nintendo.  No way is NCL going to let someone call for a boycott of a game they publish if they have solid evidence this person is making false claims.

The only exception to this is if Hellena is lying about why she isn't in Bayonetta 3 and we will likely never know if this is the case so for now I'm inclined to believe there is some truth in her statements but at the same time to take it with a grain of salt. I definitely think calling out Jennifer Hale in her whole thing and saying that she has "no right" to sign merchandise as Bayonetta even though she's voicing the character for Bayonetta 3 was unnecessary either way and distracts from the rest of her statement. It just comes off as a bit toxic on her part and that isn't what her statements needed.

She also says the Bayonetta franchise has generated 450 million in profit which is a huge exaggeration on her part as well.  The series would have had to have sold over 7.5 million copies at full price to generate that much money, and we know from sales it's no where close to that.  Even VGcharts which is notorious for inflating numbers and saying certain games sold more then they did, only has the overall series a little over 3 million copies.  We know the first game on the 360/PS3 was overshipped by Sega and the price was already in the bargain bins a few months after release, which is why Sega refused to fund a sequel.  So even if the 3 million figure is accurate, many of those copies where not even full price.  Now Bayanetta is in Smash Bros, with the most recent Smash Bros Ultimate has sold well over 20 million copies.  But she would not have access to how much money Nintendo payed Sega to have Bayonetta in Smash, and I doubt it was a couple hundred million.

Bayonetta is the biggest character Taylor has played in her career so it's easy to see why it's so important to her.  But the problem in this situation is she let that love cloud her judgement to the point she feels the character is way bigger then it actually is.  Not saying that her being offered the union minimum was right, but if she had a more realistic view on how big the Bayonetta franchise actually is, maybe she wouldn't have viewed the offer as a huge insult.

I mean this is an article from back in 2008 where the main voice actor for Grand Theft Auto IV, Michael Hollick, complained about only being paid 100K for his role as Niko.

Keep in mind he had to work over 15 months on this role, while Taylor would have probably worked for about 4 days.  The Grand Theft Auto franchise is also lightyears bigger then Bayonetta.  So her being payed about 4K for her work on Bayonetta 3, technically wouldn't have been that insulting compared to what the industry standard for union pay has been.

Platinum Games can barely pay to keep their own lights on, so boycotting this game won't exactly change much when much larger studio's are basically doing the same thing.  At the end of the day the voice actors really need to start demanding more from their union or else this kind of stuff is going to stay the norm.

We've reached the inevitable point where people scoured Hellena Taylor's social media and found some unfortunate personal views so now they're using that to rescind their pledge to boycott. Y'all didn't even have to do that. And if you chose to boycott but were looking for reasons not, the original choice seems performative.

We shouldn't make exceptions about things like worker pay because someone has certain personal views. While someone may be a miserable piece of **** on their own time, they should still be offered fair pay for the work they do. Just because an entity can legally pay someone as little as possible, doesn't make it right. In my view, Taylor's original point about the treatment of voice actors stands. If people still want to call out her TERF nonsense, they should do so but, you know, separately. They're not mutually exclusive, and attempting to address them at the same time clouds the messaging.

Yeah even though I was never going to boycott the game anyway, what people are doing now is just disgusting.  So because she has different political views, we can't even have a debate on this subject anymore, that's just terrible.  The Reset Era topic in particular shows how much of a joke that site it.  Here's a woman asking for something most liberals on that site were in favor of but as soon as it turns out she has some non-liberal views suddenly you can't even talk about it anymore or else you get banned.  Even people who weren't even defending her as a person but trying to still talk about this issue got banned.

It's like come on, people can walk and chew gum at the same time.  Talking about one issue doesn't mean you don't care about the other, it just means it has nothing to do with this particular issue.  Unless it's revealed that Platinum intentionally low-balled her because of her views on trans people, then these two issue's are separate things that need to be treated as such.

Even Xenoblade hasn't been altogether consistent when it comes to localization. 1, 1 DE, 2, and 3 all used British actors at NoE...but X used American voice actors with 8-4 Ltd.

I think that was because X was doing something different and being a more realistic sci-fi that takes place in what's suppose to be New LA using American actors was considered better fit.  But since 2 and 3 all go back to a more fantasy based world like the first game they wanted to keep the more British feel that game had.  If we ever get an X2, then it will probably use American actors again.

According to her website, Hellena Taylor previously lived in Los Angeles but moved to London. If you want English voice work, you live in Los Angeles; New York; or Austin/Houston Texas. You don't live in the United Kingdom. I suspect her unwillingness to live near production studios has a lot to do with how little work she's done. Some productions will go the extra mile to get a voice actor they really like to do remote work (such as the case with her 1 episode role of Hellsing Ultimate, a dub that had several UK actors), as a lot of high-profile voice actors have their own personal recording studio, but most of the time you have to live where the work is.

If she lives in the UK, she should have tried getting a role in the Xenoblade games.  NOE must pay pretty good if they were able to get Jenna Coleman to come back and voice Melia again for the Future Connect part of Xenoblade: Definitive Edition a few years ago.  I doubt she would come back for only $4000.

This matter is something that Taylor should have kept behind closed doors. She has a union and probably an agent that handles situations like this on her behalf.

I kind of wonder if she even has an agent.  Either that or that agent is terrible since according to her profile, she hasn't done any voice work since 2014.

In comparison Jennifer Hale has not only done tons of videogame work each year, but is also heavily involved in TV series including a lot of Disney properties.

Even though I feel bad for Taylor, I do have to wonder why she hasn't done any voice work in 8 years.  It's kind of like how some times there's actors that were all over TV and movies for a few years and then just disappeared.  Then you read years later this person was so difficult to work with eventually all the studio's had enough.

Not saying that's the case here, but people need to be careful about just taking one person at their word, since we don't know if Taylor is telling us the whole story.  Especially when I see so many post on other sites and Twitter saying **** Nintendo for be so cheap, when in reality Hale is probably costing way more then Taylor would have.  Someone with the resume of Hale certainly has an agent and that agent isn't agreeing to the union minimum when she can easily get larger roles that pay better.

And Nintendo historically just waits out controversy until it just goes away. This happens all the time. I still think we should be angrier that Nintendo copyright strikes YouTube channels that uploads Nintendo music yet won't offer the soundtracks on streaming let alone sell them internationally themselves. I understand the concept of protecting its IP, but like, y'all won't even let me pay you for the ability to listen to the music.

The funny thing about the Youtube channels is how inconsistent they are.  They'll shut down some channels but not others.  It's like NCL gives someone a quota on how many video's they need strike each month and then that person stops once they make it, despite there still being several other channels with the same songs out there that anyone can still easily find.

It sucks what happened to her, but that's not going to make me boycott what looks to be a pretty awesome game.  At the end of the day the gameplay is what comes first.  I'll just set the voices to Japanese when I play the game so that way I won't have to feel guilty every time I hear Bayonetta talk, since her Japanese voice is still the same woman who voiced her in the previous games.

Mainly I didn't like how grindy it felt. There were probably a couple of other things but I don't remember at this point. I do remember a problem of Dawn of Sorrow being a bit of a grindfest as well, but I still liked it overall, though that was many years ago now. Symphony of the Night largely avoided this problem.
That's fair. Trying to get all the shards as well as multiple of each shard to upgrade is very grindy. I vaguely remember Dawn of Sorrow having a similar mechanic. For me, Dawn of Sorrow > Ritual of the Night.

You may like Harmony of Dissonance and Portrait of Ruin more as they're less grindy (don't quote me, it's been a while since I played these games).

Personally I find the Metroidvania games more fun when not grinding.  I can understand wanting to see every ability, but I find grinding for them kind of boring after a while, and they end up making the character too overpowered.  Outside of the abilities that are required to get the True Endings in some of the games I like to just use whatever my character gets naturally and make the best of it.  Makes for a more thrilling experience.

Of course speaking of Bloodstained: Ritual of Night.  I played it earlier this year and I thought it was OK, but one of my biggest problems was how sluggish Miriam moved compared to other IGA Metroidvania's.  After I finally beat the game I look up some video's online just to see what I might have missed and most of them have Miriam moving way faster, and I see there was some abilities that allowed for faster speed.  It's like, wow, I probably would have enjoyed the game a lot more if I had gotten that ability.

So I guess in the case of Ritual of the Night, I probably should have grinded, since all the people who loved the game seem to be using all these crazy abilities the RNG never blessed me with.
