Title: E3 Surprise Predictions
Post by: BiLdItUp1 on December 20, 2005, 10:25:00 AM
We all know Nintendo is going to pull out all the stops this E3 (or so help them if they don't.) Since we're not gonna get a lot of news, we might as well start the E3 speculation early:

1. The DS gets a redesign. - We all know this one is coming sooner or later. Since its been 1.5 yrs since DS launch already, and Reggie himself has hinted at a redesign already...this is probably gonna come as part of the one-two punch (the other part, obviously, is the Rev unvealing)

2. Metroid Prime 3 for launch - They've been working on it for long enough, haven't they? This could part of the Rev's killer app line up.

3. Surprise new franchise? - It could be anything. This one is not so much a predicition as a given.

4. Some kick-arse online multiplayer. - This is basically key for Rev launch. What exactly it is is anyone's guess. I would say Smash Bros., but it looks like they haven't really begun serious work on that until just recently.

5.  Footage of next Mario. - Somehow, I don't think this'll come at launch, though it should.

6. DS 'connectivity'. - This won't be as extensive as GBA connectivity. Rather, it might allow big screen play of GBA games, or DS if it could manage it. Maybe it could be used as a controller for downloaded games. Maybe it'll even be possible to download the games off of the Rev and play them on the go; though conventional wisdom states that Nintendo is too cheap for that.

7. The unvealing of Zoonami's games, whatever they are. - It's pretty ridiculous how long Martin Hollis and Co. has kept his games under wraps. I think something will definitely be revealed by them, whether its for the Rev or not.

8. Third party exclusives - not more than two for launch frame. - I think that's fare, considering how they haven't gotten the 'real' kits yet.

9. Rev's secret feature(s)? - At first I thought it'll just be some stupid sparkling innovation; now I'm not so sure.

10. One pack-in VC game per console..

11. Price pts.: $199 for decked out console (with DVD dongle, shell and nunchuck controller, pack-in VC game. Controller = $34.99. Games = $49.99. VC games = $5 -10.

Aight, that's enough for now. I know a lot were no brainers...but cut me some slack yo, I made it pretty quickly.

Thoughts?

I thought they scrapped the idea of a DVD dongle.

Did they? Then what's that white base thing that keeps showing up in pictures?

Did they? I don't remember hearing any of this at all. In fact, I don't think they've even mentioned the dongle after they said it would be available.

Anyway, back to the predictions...

Scrapped it in such a way that DVD playback is builtin without the need for additional components (i.e., like how the Xbox requires a remote).

I thought that was clear by what I said, but maybe it wasn't.

There is a redesign of the ds call the v-pocket. My 8 ball says MP3/SM128/lots of third partys games at launch, reggie tell all about the revo, and $201 price.

I want them to surprise me with how quickly they can develop a strong game line-up out of virtually nothing.

They've said and third parties have said that there is absolutely zero learning curve, now I really really want them to prove it.

I sure as hell hope not I want my DS I have to be worth something ina a year unlike how my GBA was out dated by SP.

>>
2. Metroid Prime 3 for launch - They've been working on it for long enough, haven't they? This could part of the Rev's killer app line up.<<

Agreed.

>>3. Surprise new franchise? - It could be anything. This one is not so much a predicition as a given.<<

but we can speculate what it is right?

>>>4. Some kick-arse online multiplayer. - This is basically key for Rev launch. What exactly it is is anyone's guess. I would say Smash Bros., but it looks like they haven't really begun serious work on that until just recently. <<<

I think Smash bros will be close  to launch if not on launch day. They wont have much to do if it is started already.

>>
5. Footage of next Mario. - Somehow, I don't think this'll come at launch, though it should.
<<

Not only should it be Launch but damnit it should also be THE packin like the TWO generations where they were Number 1!

>>>6. DS 'connectivity'. - This won't be as extensive as GBA connectivity. Rather, it might allow big screen play of GBA games, or DS if it could manage it. This a woud like to see if implemented better than the GBA-GC screw up.

>>7. The unvealing of Zoonami's games, whatever they are. - It's pretty ridiculous how long Martin Hollis and Co. has kept his games under wraps. I think something will definitely be revealed by them, whether its for the Rev or not.<<

???? What is zoonami??? This confuses me.

>>>8. Third party exclusives - not more than two for launch frame. - I think that's fare, considering how they haven't gotten the 'real' kits yet. <<<

Han they can quickly port GC games with some beefed up graphics and gameplay for this or even Xbox games taht would have been on Cube but got cancelled, you knwo time to dig out all htose unfunished projetcs DOOM AND QUAKE!! AT LAUNCH! thats what I want.

>>9. Rev's secret feature(s)? - At first I thought it'll just be some stupid sparkling innovation; now I'm not so sure<<

This i have no comment on.

>>10. One pack-in VC game per console..<<

PLUS Demo disks and Mario I think would be best for everyone. They could still do a CORE console and sell Mario seperatley like in the past but he NEEDS to be avaialbel at launch and as pack in to have greastest impact.

>11. Price pts.: $199 for decked out console (with DVD dongle, shell and nunchuck controller, pack-in VC game. Controller = $34.99. Games = $49.99. VC games = $5 -10.<

Well I think they could launch lower but thats up in the air, wasnt NES launched at around 100 dollars brand new? 150 would be great or even 180. 200 should be reserved for the ultimate pack in version I think.

Also there should be some news regarding the next Zelda, Star Fox, Kirby and Mario Party games.

Besides my above comments i definatley think they should reveal a list of 3rd party companies signed on and working on Rev projetcs as well as some word on Final Fantasy CC and weather or not it will be online and of you will use GC or REV controllers or if they are gonna require GBA-DS connectivity again.

Also I want to see TONS of screanshots and footage of every concievable game they have in development even if unfinished show something worth looking at. AND the biggest announcment will be DUCK HUNT is built in!

EDIT: and the return of ROB!

Wishlist of next E3:

1) Reggie kicking J Allard in the nuts
2) Iwata kicking J Allard in the nuts
3) Ken Kuturagi kicking J Allard in the nuts (and then gets nutkicked by Reggie!)
4) Shinji Mikami kicking J Allard and/or Kuturagi in the nuts.
5) just plain someone kicking J Allard in the nuts... J just deserves a good nutkicking really.

Who's J. Allard?  Is he that bald Microsoft spokesperson guy?

I find him annoying, but maybe it's because I've never considered an Xbox or Xbox 360.  I guess he's just doing he's job, even if he's talking about stuff I don't care about.  Does he really deserve a nut-kicking though?

E3 always has some kind of surprise.  Even the most lackluster E3s at least have a few games no one's heard of until then.  The biggest surprise would be if there are no surprises, and that would be a near impossibility with two new consoles to be released next year.

I wanna kill Ken Lobb's likeness with a Klobb from GoldenEye, for irony's sake.

This is the "Electronic Entertainment Expo".

Capturing digital video of kicking J. Allard in the nuts would be "electronic entertainment".

The surprise will be they have nothing for launch but a cooking game and a direct sequel to Sunshine.

The surprise is that Nintendo will reveal a bunch of surprises before E3.  Actually, didn't they send out an invitation to the press for something on some date in May before E3?  Or was that just the same date that they'd normally have a plain ol' E3 press conference minus the Rev launch?

The surprise will be that Nintendo On was real the whole time!

On was real, because let's face it it's a lot more doable now we now how in theory the controller does it's thing.

The controller has Hot/Cold function and the buttons have light up indications.

The Rev is Region free except for where there are different TV Standards, so it be PAL/NTSC regions, but that's only for the hardware.  Since if memory serves me right unlike other consoles the GameCube would only allow you to do one resolution (I think it was something like 1280 by something I thought it was weird and over doing it.)

It will ship with the progressive scan cables because the picture is so much better, let me tell you I have them for my cube it's like night and day.

Reggie has been added to Mike Tyson Punch-Out after Mike Tyson in the enhanced version.

Captian N is back. (and it's Ian j/k)

The new Online interface is introduce and shock it has no in game messaging function.  (Oh come on.  Besides PSO every game that goes online Nintendo style doesn't do it and you know I'm finding I prefer it that way.  Talking is what phones and computers are for.)

There is a PPU in it.

That the internal flash memory is only used by developers as a place to cache large chunks of Disc for decompression by hardware decompression.  (Sorry but that isn't enough memory to take on Hard drive like functions)

That does mean that Downloads would have to go to your "Memory Card" flash but they would be ultra small because of using the zip technology that also doubles as a way to copy protect.  With the inner flash/hardware decompressor combo you never now the difference even if it was something large.

There is a hall of accesories.

Rev has been slimmed to just two DVD cases.

There is no Power Brick.

Those "enhancements" to TP.  Well when you play it on Rev you can see it in it's glorious..... Cell Shading ;-}

And there will be a speech like this:

"Oh by the way,  the Revolution will be launched tomorrow.  You may now Commence your looting."

Oh yes, i forgot, if Microsoft shows Halo 3 at next E3 and does that with some guy in a Master Chief suit, Reggie would just burst trough the wall, kick J in the nuts and then wrestle the Master Chief guy in the suit, rip off some the arms or legs of the suit and use them to hit J Allard and then when all the mayhem is over Reggie says "oh yes J, remember we have that board discussion at 4 pm... and i'm taking this leg/arm with me, i'm not taking your name though because...well, its one freakin letter... thats not worth my time".

And yes, J Allard deserves a nutkicking, he's not only annoying, he's a big lying bastard and probably the biggest MTV-wannabe walking on the face of this planet.
