They use "blocks" so that people without knowledge of the usual terminology have nothing to get confused over.

In fact, even us users who do understand the terminology don't need to know the technical file sizes.  How many blocks is the game? 2000? How many free blocks do I have? More than that? Good to go.

Plain. Simple.

TalkBack / Re: Rhythm Thief Coming to iOS in Japan

Based on a RFN podcast, the 3DS game never got that many copies shipped out by Sega anyways. I may get the free iOS version if it comes out here.

You know, that's an excellent point.  When the game came out I did a little bit of my own investigative data-collecting and asked all the GameStops in my area.  They each only got ONE copy outside of pre-orders!  ONE COPY!

How does ANY company hope to turn a profit like that?? One guy buys the game and then suddenly you have ZERO shelf presence and you're completely out of the public eye!

..... when they realize that you must build it before they will come?  Just so sad for such a great game =\

Its almost like they're waiting until a certain time to tell us more about the Wii U's features...

Wait...

I'm sorry but is this topic really necessary when we know Nintendo will be having their big Wii U conference on September 13th ...

+1 to the both of ye.

"this time with save state functionality."

Haha. That would help so much! =P

I can honestly say I used to be able to beat NG2 back in the day.  But I never beat NG1 or 3 without good ol' GameGenie =P

To be fair, I never owned those games so I didn't have enough time to master them.... I only rented them.  But those two are just tougher anyway, right?

Anyway, I might seriously consider this when it hits NA.

eShop! eShop! eShop!

I'll go for that.

My official slogan for Wii U regarding third party software of any kind? "No excuses!"

So, glad to see things like this!

We got our Wii during its second Holiday on the market.  Haven't had a pause in gaming activity or any hardware issues since day one.

By the way, I find it hiiiiiiilarious when articles/people say the Wii lagged behind in terms of technology.  Since when is the only measure of technology raw horsepower?  The wiimote is one of the biggest technological breakthroughs in gaming.  Giving motion control mass appeal and a serious range of (albeit imperfect) functionality?  That's the kind of tech that changes the course of an industry.  Move and Kinect showed that it was, in fact, the other companies who had to play technological catch-up.  Meanwhile, the Wii HD only had to ever exist inside Michael Pachter's head. =P

TalkBack / Re: The 3DS Fall Might Break Its Back

@Pix^2

Yea, but it's not that people wouldn't CARE about those games.  It's the fact that people dwell on their absence to the extent of appearing to NOT CARE about what we ARE getting.

Btw, Luigi's Mansion 2 is one of the two games that made me say "yes! I will one day have to get a 3DS!" But I mean, c'mon, I can't be the only one with enough perspective to not have to start flippin' tea tables about playing it in the Winter/Spring instead of Fall/Winter.

Anyway, I appreciate that you did word your difference of opinion in a kind, respectful and level-headed way.  Good on you, man.  Seriously.

@Kairon

ha! I would also really like to know when that's happening =)

So much insanity in this thread....

People claim to want new IPs, and then discount them when they are coming.  People claim to want 3rd party support, and then complain and overlook it if it outshines first party stuff.

Just because LM2 and CV got pushed back, suddenly those are the games everyone wants the most.  People would be giving the same song and dance if you swapped those games out for Paper Mario and Epic Mickey or maybe even Code of Princess or the 999 sequel.

Seems like whatever could possibly be this month's weak link is suddenly the most important facet of a given Nintendo platform.  It's just a doom and gloom machine and it's a little embarrassing.

But hey, that's just my take.  Personally, I will struggle to afford all the 3DS games I want for the remainder of 2012 - let alone Wii U stuff.

Third party games go FROM Nintendo platforms TO other platforms.  Not the other way around.  Of course it won't remain exclusive.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Reveals Massive List of Release Dates

Looks flappin' good to me!  It's amusing how if we weren't getting Code of Princess or Virtue's Last Reward people would be throwing a hissy fit.  But they are coming to NA and people ignore it? Laaaame.

Definitely:
Prof. Layton 5
Virtue's Last Reward
Code of Princess
NSMB2
Unchained Blades

Maybe:
Epic Mickey 3DS
Paper Mario Sticker Star (eventually for sure)
Spy Hunter
Scribblenauts Unlimited
PKMN White 2

Metacritic is at 78 with 16 positive reviews, 10 mixed and ZERO negative.

Sounds above average to me.

NSMB : Madden :: Nerf Ball : Bullet

46
... the New Super Mario Bros. games are like Madden.

I like this article.  It got 2 things really right ...

1. The NSMB franchise is responsible for showing the industry that 2D platformers can be relevant in a post-3D-graphics world.

2. The resurgence of the genre does not make NSMB2 better or worse.  It only gives the general audience a different, more critical, perspective.

Well done, Neal.

I've still never lost faith.  He said we would get official word when TLS launched.  That still hasn't been released yet.  If the release of TLS comes and goes without word then I will officially change my mind and begin the import process.

@group

Wow. I did not know that about the 'pad and 'glove.  OK, so how about the Super Scope, Zapper and Rob (the effin') Robot?

@Gui

I certainly don't think you were defending the Wii from the other cast members on this episode.  Everyone did a really good job of stepping back from the overall Wii-bashing and analyzing the experience objectively.  Which is why I enjoyed the episode so much!  I just appreciated some of your specific sentiments the most, that's all.
