Please help: Wii connectability w/ RFU adapter?
« on: October 02, 2007, 10:09:13 AM »
I have an RFU adapter that works with N64 and GC, but it will not work with my wii!  The TV in my dorm is too old to use the regular composite adapter.  Has anyone found an adapter that will allow me to use this RFU or another adapter with the wii? thanks!

I know that I've seen universal AV-cable to RFU adapters. Unfortunately, these would require the Wii standard AV cables to be plugged into a large brick which would then output RF. I know because I've actually been looking to buy one of these myself! Unfortunately, there ARE quite large and cost $20... but then again, they are UNIVERSAL, meaning they should work for anything that outputs AV or whatever, like a DVD player!

The one I saw was at a Walmart, or a Radio Shack, but I'm sure they're also online... hmm... gee, they ARE sorta rare online...

Wow... these things are HARD to find online! But I KNOW that I saw them in Walmart at the very least, they even had S-Video inputs in addition to standard composite AV input...

They may not be at the Radio Shack, I can;'t remember, but I'm Positive that that walmart had them. I was staring at them for 20 minutes thinking about buying one.

AH-HAH!

You have more success if you search for an RF modulator, which netted me this result on amazon.com and  this result on EBay. I haven't shopped around though, so don't take my word for it! EBay especially seems to have more than one option.

BAH, you beat me to it Mafachu...

Pretty much what you need to look for in an "AV selector" with an "RF" or "COAX" output.

such as
4 to 1
3 to 1

Those should do it for ya. Or if ya feel like getting a getting something else in the deal try getting a dvd/vcr combo. Most of those have a regular cable output and it will still have an AV input. You can probably pick one up for around $50-$60

Oh this ones pretty neat.
wireless av selector
So you don't even have to get up to switch the thing.

You could use an old VCR in place of the RF Modulator if you can find one nearby.

Oh I really don't like creating unnecessary threads so I better just post here. My family monopolizes the TV, so I had to use my PC, which has TV/s-video input,  from now on, I have a great S-video cable for the old n64/GC connector and the improvement is significant, but Nintendo in a very evil move change the connector for the console, so I wonder, is there a S-video cable for the wii?
