Nintendo Gaming / Re: Your Online Experience with Brawl
« on: April 07, 2008, 07:52:46 AM »
My experience has been a complete gamble online.  Having to be online at the same time to just register each other is dumb to start with.  The only good matches I've had were with my friend in New York (I'm in Central PA)  Even then it can be a coin toss if the system will give the OK that we're both online.  I only ever played 'With Anyone' successfully at 3am, the day of launch.  I believe that's because the system hadn't been hammered into oblivion yet.
I agree that MK Wii will suffer the same fate as Brawl, it's not like they've been quick to add more servers.
I would like to note that the only reason 'Spectate' works is because you're just being sent replay data.  Besides the fact that it's not laggy, it's what the check box for allowing Spectate states.
Fortunately, I didn't buy this game for online.  Local play is fantastic, and since my gf will play Brawl, unlike Melee, I always have someone to play.

UncleBob, I haven't downloaded your stage, but I know that it will work.
IGN built an entire site dedicated to allowing people to exchange levels using the method you just described.  This forum should be dedicated to linking to our ow designs?  Be much nicer than having to deal with IGN.

I love the stages.  They really feel fun to experience instead of Melee where I felt more like I was 'dealing' with them.
Also, I actually like that don't have a 'main' character yet.  It's nice being able to pick any character and just play, I never feel like I can't win because of who I'm playing as.

I really want this game, but with Brawl, I just don't have the time yet.  I'm sure it'll still be around in a couple weeks when I can actually enjoy it.

The only review I found was IGN.  I don't understand how $30 is too much for two arcade games?  It seems they have the impression that everyone has a Dreamcast, Xbox, or a still functioning arcade to play them instead.  (I have none)  I'm still holding off to purchase until I read impressions from some where else (hopefully someone on this forum).  Plus I'm still deeply into Brawl.

Is this the same game?? http://ds.ign.com/articles/838/838959p1.html
I'm just curious cause IGN's review was a score I was expecting for something like this.

This is interesting, a supposed real shot of characters unlocked so far versus this mockup from a couple days ago:
real? http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/9917/brawlrosterhp8.jpg
mockup: http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w230/CLShortFuse/Brawl/fullroster.png

Could this be like last time where people didn't like the list so much that they believed it fake until release?  Also notice that with the proper inserts into the rows, that 'real' picture would look like the 'mockup' and would give an order to why characters are located where they are. I just wanted to throw my two cents in.  If the 'mockup' becomes real, I don't think I'll be disappointed, it's still A LOT of unique fighters this time around.

I hope this gets attention and they'll release it on both XBLA and the VC.  I don't if the VC is just a straight port, I love the game but don't have the space for many consoles.
Also, I want something to work out so there's at least a small chance for Blast Corps.

My credit card has a pending charge of $22.98 from Walmart.com

I'm not sure if I should take that as a good sign or not.

TalkBack / RE: Possible Delay for Brawl
« on: January 09, 2008, 11:55:15 PM »
My only reason to believe they  would 'delay' a game that's gone gold is simple. To produce more.  There are how many MILLION Wiis in the US?  Maybe they know it's going to be popular and want to cut off more eBay shenanigans?  I refuse to believe in the rumor, but that's why I think they'd hold back.

I received this game as a gift and I must admit, I'm liking it much more than I thought I would.  Co-op is a lot of fun.  Single player really does feel off balance, like they made it for Co-op and turned off the other gun for single player.  Also, a surprise is that I like how the Zapper gives me a longer trigger and more comfortable aim.

I built the Wii white board he came up with the other week.  Very cool.  (By built, I mean I made the IR pen)
As soon as I get back to work, I'm so doing this as well. (Only my work laptop has bluetooth )

I really hope Nintendo hires him, or at least puts out glasses and a Wii Remote holder with credit given to him. (or at least some kind of acknowledgment if they've already developed it)

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Super Mario Galaxy

Well I just got all 120 stars and I'd say it's the greatest Mario I ever played, putting nostalgia aside.
Swimming controls definitly annoyed when trying to get out of the water, but I never died or lost a challenge from it.  I felt the difficultly went up nicely, from anyone can do this up to pull your hair out a few times but you will still get it eventually.
As for the 'co-op', what they came up with is great for two people to work together instead of being bored and waiting for the other person.  What I see being discussed about is people did not want a co-op mode, they wanted a competitive mode, which is not in the scope of the game which is why I feel the arguments are out of place.  (this goes for other places I've read complaints about it too)

I 'beat' the game at 60 stars, but I felt the the other 60 have been like a whole new game.  The difficulty and challenge is greater than the first 60 stars.   3 more to go tonight.

They dropped the ball for Wii and PS3.  All other versions at least had previous edition guitars to use.  And the faceplates work on all the Les Pauls, however, there are not out right now that have the Wii Remote hole cut into them.

Man, if only Mario were more like an RPG, oh wait, that's been done already...

On a more serious note, that is an amazing quantity to go through so fast, I wonder what the numbers will look like come early January.

They get you hooked, but then you can't really play co-op career because they still don't have individual guitars for sale.  Now there's a wait between plays while someone else gets their fix

I'm curious about the same thing.  Player 2 rocking on just a Wiimote isn't exactly a fun time.

I'm ready to rock for those who are looking for someone to add.

I like that this game keeps you sign in online all the time after you initially choose to do so.  Now you can play without waiting in the lobby.  (at least it seems that way)

Besides, why complain about the tapping on enemies to kill them? You say that it isn't difficult, and that's EXACTLY what controls should be: not difficult. You shouldn't have difficulty fighting enemies, because Zelda is about figuring out how to fight them instead of the act of actually fighting them. The fun isn't in killing the enemies, it's in the figuring out how to. This isn't an FPS, after all.

Half the fun of Zelda games of old was dodging enemies with quick controls, swiping and hitting them in the right way and trying not to take damage.

I just don't see that happening with these controls.

It's a slight downgrade. It's different in a bad way to me. It's nothing fantastic. It feels dumbed down with far less possibilities for moves.

Not impressed at all and the more I play it the more I regret my purchase.

I'm a huge Zelda fan, and I'll be honest, the games to me at least, have never been about combat.  'Fighting' enemies to me has always been like a mobile puzzle.  The fighting possibilities were definitely upped with all the moves that were put into Wind Waker, but these just expanded the 'how do I take this enemy down' repertoire.
