DS software passes a huge milestone and Mario Kart Wii sells big. http://nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=15820 Mario Kart Wii made a bold entry in Nintendo’s home territory this week, selling well over half a million copies. Super Smash Bros. Brawl continued to slowly build on its 1.5 million sales so far, just barely in the top 10. Monster Hunter Portable, however, has already surpassed Brawl’s sales in a little over two weeks.
This week, Media Create chimed in with a few significant milestones that were reached, the most notable that DS software sales have topped 100 million units in Japan alone. In fact 21 of the 922 DS games currently available are million sellers in the territory, with New Super Mario Bros at the top with 5,174,163 sold. Even more impressively, the DS managed all of this in just under three and a half years, beating out the previous champion (the PS2) by almost a year.
