The Ace Attorney series travels to Japan’s past in an upcoming installment from Capcom for the Nintendo 3DS: Dai Gyakuten Saiban - Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken. Development will be led by series creator Shu Takumi.
Set in Japan’s Meiji era, sometime between 1868 to 1912, the game focuses on Phoenix Wright’s ancestor, Naruhodou Ryuunosuke. The announcement trailer below showcases the architecture of the era, when Japan was transitioning between feudal and modern society, and two new characters.
The game currently isn’t confirmed for a western release. Check out the announcement trailer and let us know what you think!
Well, there goes my interest in the series. I was really hoping to see where the series would go post-Apollo Justice, but despite Ace Attorney 5 it seems Capcom still doesn't have an answer to that question. Sadly, I've had more than my fill of the over-exposed feudal era in Japanese games & anime, so I think I'll pass.

Uh... the feudal era was much earlier, like Medieval times.
I guess this is another countless example of broodwars complaining about something despite that he has no idea what he's talking about.
I'd be much more interested if they set it in the future, and all the attorneys were cyborgs of some kind and there are all kinds of unnecessary blue lights everywhere.

It's late 19th century Japan, a country that was backwards even then. It might as well be the feudal era. And by the way, **** you. ;)

Oh dear, I've offended the Japanese, one of the most xenophobic cultures in the world. WHATEVER shall I DO?!!! *shrugs* And yeah, I've never claimed history was my forte. Whatever. By all means, keep dancing around my actual complaint about Capcom being petrified of moving the series forward.
Um, I don't think you know your history as well as you think you do. They are not the same, even in the slightest. If I was Japanese, I'd probably take offense to that.
Can someone change Broodwars tag to "Hates Japan"
The meiji era is actually not THAT well represented. Think the clash between classic and modern, a la BRISCO COUNTY JR.I really liked Brisco County Jr. back in the day.

Also I can't wait to see what Meiji Era California looks like.
