Title: UNCONFIRMED: 1-2 Switch Sequel Developed, Received Markedly Unfavourable Product Reviews

There's something about a horse involved.

Nintendo has apparently developed a sequel to Switch's other launch title 1-2 Switch, but it may never see the light of day.

In reporting at Fanbyte, the title - apparently titled "Everybody's 1-2 Switch" - has been in development since the success of the original which shipped 3.45m copies. In the interest of not making the original game irrelevant, the sequel would feature an option for 100 player play via smartphone (such as with the Jackbox Party Packs and the recently released RiffTrax game). The game-show like atmosphere would also star a host named "Horse" - someone wearing the top half of a horse outfit.

Reportedly, testing for the sequel was so negative that "Different trusted employees within Nintendo were raising alarms that the game released as-is would damage the company’s reputation as a great software developer." Cases for a physical version were created, and some at Nintendo are pushing for the game to come out at retail, though others have suggested adding the game to the Expansion Pack for Switch Online to try and recoup development costs that way.

Nintendo has not officially commented, though several sources confirmed the information to Fanbyte and NWR has been able to corroborate the reports.

Definitely some intriguing stuff here but it sounds like they need to Conker's Bad Fur Day this thing to save the development process and truly be a masterpiece.

Who the heck is Fanbyte? It always does bug me when I see sites quote random sites or Twitter accounts. Same thing happens with wrestling news, stuff like "this Twitter account reports...".

But assuming it's true, no big deal. Developers frequently scrap products before announcing them, usually we don't find out until years later (if ever). It's not often the game is finished, but it has happened before (even with Nintendo, they developed Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball for the GameCube but didn't release it)

I still want to play Pennant Chase Baseball! That was the game that was finally going to get the GameCube to surpass the PS2 but Nintendo decided to throw in the towel and tank for the number one draft pick instead. I suppose it paid off in the end since they got Wii Sports Baseball for doing that but I'll always wonder what might have been with Pennant Chase Baseball.....

And even though Nintendo had some winning seasons with the Wii, it wasn't all sunshine and roses as they never gave Project H.A.M.M.E.R a chance to try out for the team and held back Day of Disaster and Captain Rainbow to their minor league teams. And just think of how much greater the team could be if they'd finally let Mother 3 join it!

You reading this Nintendo? WE'LL NEVER FORGET!! AND WE'LL NEVER FORGIVE!! FANS OF CANCELLED AND REGION LOCKED GAMES, UNITE!!

Fanbyte have been around for a while now. Their EiC used to be at Vice's gaming site.
I don't follow Fanbyte very closely, because they specialize in coverage of live service games (FF14, Destiny 2, Apex, etc.) which I don't play. But seems like a reputable source imo.

That would explain why i've never heard of them, I have no interest in service games because i'm not a fan of having to essentially pay hundreds of dollars to get the full experience of a game.
