Warp Pipe Getting Major Overhaul
« on: February 25, 2004, 06:20:22 PM »
The Warp Pipe Project upgrades to something more like a warp whistle.

We all know about Nintendo's reluctance to offer a service for online games in the same way that Microsoft does with Xbox Live.  We also know about the two tunnelling services for GameCube games, the upcoming XLink Kai client, and the Warp Pipe Project.  The latter of the two is nearing a new release, and GC Advanced got first details of what we can expect.

The client is getting an appearance facelift, for one thing.  Connecting to another GameCube still has you input the IP address of the player you want to connect to, but it's much easier to see what's happening in the meanwhile.  More importantly, the new version will include support for wireless connections and auto-pinging.  Support for 1080 Avalanche has also been included.

For all the lovely details and to see a sneak peek at the new client, click here.  Warp Pipe v0.3.5 should be released within the next few weeks.

So now the argument about SSX3 vs. 1080 would include 1080 being "online" for the GC?
