Nintendo have clarified an interview with Game Informer that inferred that over 100 people from Monolith Soft were working on Zelda. When in fact it's over 100 people in total including Monolith Soft that are working on the game.

I thought it looked a little sketch to begin with but it's nice to have some clarification. It also means Monolith Soft are full steam ahead on their next project.

I wonder how intentional it is that some of those areas look more out of Metroid than Zelda?

I don't think this looks very similar to Metroid. I mean well first off, the world is open and I don't know if Metroid has worlds this open.

I'm still concerned about one thing which is how can Nintendo make Zelda games from this point on? Is it to be open ended or linear? It'll be really difficult to do new things from here on. Otherwise, the game is amazing. This is actually the first Zelda game that's making me get the NX.

The big open world Zelda's will probably be the norm for home consoles.  The handhelds will get the more linear traditional 3D ones probably from Grezzo now as well as 2D ones from a small part of the main team at EAD like the last several have been.  That would make the most sense going forward.

That's assuming that the NX is home console only....but what if its both? That might be the bigger problem.

Also, considering how Xenoblade is a niche market, wouldn't that be the same for open world games as well? If that's the case, that wouldn't be so good for Zelda now would it?

Just a nitpick but EAD is now merged and formed as EPD which stands for Entertainment Planning Development. Although I won't blame you if you miss the term EAD....it just makes more sense than EPD.

Zelda is way more popular then the Xeno series ever was.  Xenogears and Xenosaga were niche title even as traditional RPG's, despite the Final Fantasy series being huge sellers on the Playstation at the same time.  Xenoblade being niche says more about that series appeal then the open world genre not allowing huge success which games like GTA, Assassins Creed and Skyrim were able to achieve.

Now I'm not saying Zelda will be reaching those numbers but it's not hard to believe that the popular history of Zelda combined with open world gameplay, along with the fact the game looks amazing and is getting a lot of attention from even non-Nintendo fans is a very good sign this game will be pretty successful.  How big of a success will depend on how great the final product ends up being combined with how Nintendo markets it.

As well as how well Nintendo handles the NX. It would sell like hot cakes, or end up being like the Taco Time next to work: have a Chipotle open next-door and watch their sales get swept away.

I think Zelda going open world is going to attract a lot of gamers.  There are so many popular open world franchises, but none of them have the polish and attention to detail as Zelda games usually do.  Fans of those series often know that, and I think this game could win some core gamers back for Nintendo.  It's not a niche genre Zelda is expanding into, just not one Nintendo often goes to.

im talking about the ancient technology at the beginning of the demo.

The resurrection chamber kinda looks like a recovery chamber on metroid.

Either its intentional or unintentional. I wouldn't expect them to hit you over the head with some Metroid references. They may do it on purpose, but make it very subtle.

Digital Foundry deeper dive. More tech analysis.

- Overall theme is that this game is really pushing the Wii U's tech.
- Maybe there's Anti-Aliasing? E3 televisions may have been poorly calibrated.
- Monolith Soft helping with the tech, but pushing farther than what they did on XCX.
- Feeling is it might be pushing as much as it can on Wii U, more tailored with NX.

The game definitely lags occasionally. I would hope it runs better on NX.

They still have 8 months before it's released, which means probably a good 7 months of development. The actual game as far as from beginning to end is most likely finished or very close to being finished, so there's plenty of time for them to try and optimize things.

Just like to say that I've thought about it a lot and listened over and over again to the other themes and BOTW is, in my opinion, the best written main theme Zelda has ever had. This is not including Zelda's main theme, just game to game main themes. It's crazy to think that I could make this conclusion despite what we have to listen to being so short, but the chord progression is simply too good.

Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda song (and one of my favorite songs to play on guitar)...this version is especially epic.

I wouldn't argue that. I'm talking about main themes. WW had one, TP had one, SS etc.

I might as well present my favorite version.

I'm a big fan of the BOTW music so far.  It's melodic, complex, and the way they incorporate all the flutes really fit the theme of being in an exotic, far-off land.  I think it definitely has the potential to be my favorite Zelda theme.

It really reminds me of Xenoblade's main theme, which is also incredible.

But while Xeno feels melancholy and epic, Zelda feels completely foreign and epic, which suits the game much better.

New little video on their Facebook

Are they going to do the Nintendo daily drip on this game? I got into that for Smash.

I watched it, but there isn't anything really new to talk about that wasn't already shown at E3.  Nintendo is saving all the new material for the NX reveal.

I dont think that exactly had been shown, but I assumed it would be possible.
I wonder if you can stasis lock enemies too, or if it only works on objects.
