Unless you swing the controller and mach speed and decide to let go of the controller, ther won't be a problem. I laugh at all the idiots who throw their controllers and then blame Nintendo because hey don't know how to hold onto a controller.

Makes one wonder how many pitchers there are who have been struck with a bat that was swung too hard...

Furthermore, makes one wonder how the majority of the human race even muster a real tennis racket to begin with.

We certainly do have a problem. This is a testament to the fact that the general populous is full of retards. Honestly, keep the controller in your hand. The strap is there JUST IN CASE. With almost 2 weeks clocked on my Wii, I have not had the controller slip from my hand once. But I guess my basic motor functions are somehow more advanced than these retards'.

I wonder what would happen if you fling your Wii-mote into a Sony TV?

the Wii-mote would survive, and Sony would die....

Real games don't use wrist straps, and only retards could blame Nintendo for their own stupidity, my question is what do these people really want from nintendo besides money

I do want to take the time to mention that if you worrying about the Wiimote slipping from your grasp to go out and buy the gloves.  I really love mine even if it makes battery changing a problem. (My wife has the awesome Dark Green Zelda one from the Target Awesome 3 Pack.  I have the happy blue one...Best color in the singles.)  I'm seriously now more worried about the Nunchuk slipping out of my hand when playing Zelda or RRR.

Edit:  Ironically enough I think these incidents are slowly making the Wii the most destructive console ever made.  Hopefully third parties and Nintendo will have and industrial strap soon.  Because some people don't seem to have common sense.
