If by this year you mean before next E3, maybe... of course what do I know? I just subscribe to the "don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed" theory of fanboyism.
That's my opinion, not yours.

anyone else feel the need to get up and dance after hearing about all the games?

My personal favorites were:

Super Mario Galaxy
Disaster: whatever the subtitle was
MP:3
Wii sports
Madden
Red Steel
Excite Truck
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

I want Mario NOW

Deep down, I had a feeling that SSBR wouldn't be shown, what with Sakurai taking office only recently.. still disappointing though.

Let's see... Mario, Zelda, and Red Steel are all coming at launch... Metroid is likely a 1Q 2007 release. So it looks like SSB is going to have to wait. Otherwise this launch would simply be too crowded with big name titles. If SSB launched with the system, that would probably cripple Warioware and WiiSports sales as well.

Also, CoD 3, which might or might not be noteworthy, and a ton of mysterious stuff.

Edit: but SSB at launch would be a huge system-seller, which at that point is far, far more important than first-party game sales. I think they just haven't been able to develop it far enough. Hopefully they're taking the time to playtest the bejeesus out of it.

Also, what about that footage of the game with the dude holding a flash light....what was that game?

YOu found one flaw in that logic, the other is that sadness takes place pre WWI.  I believe that nibris said sadness would be controlling a torch.

It makes some sense. For practical purposes you really probably shouldn't launch Zelda, Mario, Red Steel, two Square Enix titles, SSB, AND MP3 all on the same day.

Plus they've made a semi-big-deal out of not having the patented Nintendo long-assed drought after launch. Spreading out the releases a bit so as not to allow some interesting games to get sort of written off as an afterthought isn't that bad a thing. It seems like there are enough games in the pipeline here to get off your 20 launch titles with 5 or 6 big names and still have at least one major release every month up to the next E3.

Assuming we get a November launch, we could see

Launch: Mario, Zelda, Disaster, Pilotwings, Wii Sports, Two SE titles, Red steel, a dozen or so other titles
December: SSB
January: Resident Evil: Whatever Edition, Wario Ware
February: MP3
March: New Sonic Title, Fire Emblem
April: Namco RPG, Excite Truck
May: E3 2007

Ehhh. I'd alter that quite a bit. Pilotwings seems more like a December release to me. Disaster could be a long way away, I think. All we saw was 5 seconds of CGI. Also, I think Crystal Chronicles could be pretty far off... SSB might be too, despite what Iwata has said in the past.

Launch: Mario, Zelda, WiiSports, Excite Truck, WarioWare, Project HAMMER, Red Steel, and I'm hoping that there is some musical game, too (we saw lots of people using the wiimote in this way, but no game footage)
December: Pilotwings, Sonic
January: probably not much...
February: MP3, Crystal Chronicles
March: Disaster, Resident Evil(?)
April: Super Smash Brothers

But I thought Square-Enix said that FF:CC and DQ would be launch titles?

Maybe they mean "launch window" titles..

Anyway, as much as I want Mario at launch, I also want it to be a brilliant game. I want it to blow me away, and that can't happen if it's rushed. With Zelda out for launch, even though it's also a GameCube game, it takes some pressure off Mario, so that it doesn't need to be out so soon. And with so many other games, I think they should hold off on Mario and SSB for later on..
