Ad-Free Grace Period on PGC
« on: April 10, 2006, 06:56:32 AM »
We are dumping UGO's ad network and seeking something MUCH better to replace them.  While we're between ad networks, you'll get a nearly ad-free grace period at PGC.  I hope this shows that we are very much aware of the ad problems and have been listening to your concerns.  It also makes good business sense for us.

I would appreciate any feedback about how the reduced ads affect your browsing habits.

Out of curiosity, when does the grace period start?  Because I still see ads.

Also, your avatar is too big.
And your avatar no longer looks like you and Shigeru Miyamoto.

There are still ads (primarily from Google).  Just not the ultra-annoying UGO ones.

It's not "too big". It's just defying the rules.

yea, I was actually just coming here to ask where the ads went. Huge difference.

You know, I really have to say that it's nice to be able to browse PGC and not having to play "Beat the Pop-up" in order to close the windows before they even load...

Hmmm, maybe they're cached/the verison of the site using them is cached?  Clear your cache to see if that makes a difference.

It seems to have worked, thanks TYP !

Edit: Nope, I just got it. But it seems it is only in the forums? Btw, it can't be cookies 'cause I had cleared both cache and cookies. No matter, it doesn't bother me that much anyway.

I don't like the new ads.  They make me feel bad about myself.

They just disappeared for me today. At first I thought something was wrong with the site because somehow it looked different.
