"Adventure and Yar's Revenge are like the only Atari games (not including Activision's stuff) I can think of that were both quite good and were not arcade ports."

I point you to the entire Activision catalog on the 2600.  Also, as someone else said, back in those days, arcades were a bigger deal than they are now.  Arcades were where all the great games started out, back then.

"I'm quite confident Namco will continue making fighting games (of some sort) for Nintendo systems, considering how well the GameCube version did."

Im not sure where this confidence you speak of comes from.  Soul Calibur was one of the biggest titles on Dreamcast and I dont think Namco ever came back to that system.

I love how people act like the NES created the home gaming craze.  the Atari 2600 was a household name long before big N came along.  THAT'S your roots.  I do love that shirt, though.

but dont you see, if it is a good representation of the movie, there will not actually be that much fighting in it.  even if there was, what would be the point?  you dont fight in fight club to earn respect or move up in the rankings or any silly crap like that.  the fact that is apparently going to be a fighting game at all tells me that it is in fact some idiot's view of the movie.  i honestly cant conceive of any possible way for a game based on this film to be worth setting on fire.

fight club wasnt really about fighting, at all, but I seriously doubt the people making this game know that.  i cant beleive theyre making a game out of this and I hope it doesnt come to gamecube.....or any other system, for that matter

Kind of makes me wonder what the going price on ebay is. (Though I wouldn't do it.)

same as they always have, surprisingly.  i guess because there isnt a xmas coming up, no one is really scrambling

the vcr will come with a coax cable to connect to the TV,  ive never seen one that didnt.  it's not cheaper than the RF adapter, but it's a lot more versatile.

8
you can probably find a vcr with rca inputs for 30 bucks, if you look around.

why would nintendo have a problem porting their own games to their own system?  anything published on a Nintendo system by a publisher other than Nintendo would belong to that publisher.

Personally, I hope for games like the upcoming Megaman Collection are headed our way.  I would kill for a port of the Capcom AD&D arcade games.

after hearing my friend rave about the fact that he never notices when his Xbox saves, Im all for a hard drive.  downloadable content be damned, memory cards are slow.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: is XIII a cool game????

ive seen the PC version in many places for 20, so id go for that one, if youve got the juice to run it.  I have the multiplayer demo and have logged in hours upon hours just playing that.  This is another one I plan on buying because Ive heard the story is great, regardless of how formulaic the gameplay is.  Most FPS feel pretty formulaic, to me, anymore.

the ski chase alone would make a For Your Eyes Only game worth buying.

they could make the hard drive capable of being a pass through for the GB player, you know.  Basically, the hard drive plugs into your GC and the GB player plugs into that.  wouldnt be that tough to pull off.

you can do all that stuff in Desert Storm, as far as I know

RTS games just dont work for me on consoles.  much like the Sims dont work for me.  Consoles are far too limited in scope to acomodate a game like Command And Conquer with all the bells and whistles in tact.  still, for the sake of broadening GC's horizons and the fact that if one gamer wants, there are more that agree, I say bring on the mouse.

the best accessory they could come out with is........

variety - where are the light gun games?  how about the flight sims?  a broader selection of fighters would be nice.  it appears we are slowly losing the supports franchises.  am I the only one seeing that GCN is heading down the path of the 64?

oh, was Factor 5 the confirmed developer? i thought that was just some wacky rumour.

id have to buy a PS2 first.  it's fairly dreadful that GC has not one flight sim or even an arcade flight game in it's roster

bummer.  that was one of the better titles on the 64.  it would have been a nice edition to the GC, which seems to have a serious shortage of flying games.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: All these Mario titles, WHERES MARIO DODGE BALL!
« on: February 09, 2004, 06:19:23 PM »
i dont really see the big deal with the spin offs.  the main Mario games is what gamers really clamor for.  I think of Mario Tennis, Golf, Smash Bros., etc. as Nintendo games, not Mario games.  I kinda wish more of spin offs had more non-Mario related characters the way the Smash Bros games do (assuming Link and Samus are in Melee, of course).

actually, if someone with some creativity tackled this, it could be a lot of fun.  who is to say every match has to be a standard dodge ball court?  how about some mazes/buildings with stuff to hide behind?  if someone actually put some thought into it, they could easily make it a really fun game, I think.

every game since Link to the Past.  hmmm.......barring the Gameboy games, thatd be OoT, MM and WW.  The games Im pretty much talking about.  I love how all of you get so up in arms about all this.  All I am doing is stating my opinions and I get this very hostile attitude from you all.  This is a discussion forum, last I checked.  Im discussing.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: GCN SHORTAGE??????
« on: February 08, 2004, 05:54:33 PM »
Ive never gone somewhere near me and not found one, but I live in a smaller populated area.  If you live in a large city, Id say try calling the stores in some of the smaller towns that are farther out from you or something.  Also try looking in stores people dont normally think of for buying gaming stuff.  The Sears near me always has systems in stock.  Even on launch day.  No one seems to think to go there, I guess.  My friend walked into Sears on the day they launched and walked out with a PS2.  He kicked himself for not buying 2 and selling the other one for a nice little profit.

you had to do quite a few of them to acheive certain key things in the game.  I just hate and will always hate sidequests.  I guess I just miss the old days when they focused more on gameplay and fun and less on story.  The younger gamers seem to be obsessed with having a killer story in their games.  My favorite Zelda of all of them will always be the original and there was little to no story told in the game.  The back story was given in the book that came with it as I recall.  I remember when Final Fantasy 7 came out and everyone was creaming over it.  I watched my friend play it for an hour and he spent most of that time reading.  WEE FUN!!
