Roles

Townie

Beverly Crusher - The townie doctor. Thanks to the miracles of future medicine, Crusher can heal a crew member injured by an enemy attack. Like the usual townie doctor, this just means that the player can select another player that they wish to protect during the night action phase and that person can not be eliminated by the Mafia. Unfortunately, the doctor can not protect themselves from the night action period.

Deanna Troi - Townie Detective. Due to her half Betazoid nature and being able to sense emotions along with her psychiatric background, Deanna Troi is usually able to determine if another person is of friendly or hostile intent. Like the usual townie detective, this player is able to investigate any player of their choosing each day. The player sends their request via PM to the host at any time they wish during either the day or night period and the host will send a reply pm revealing the role of the player chosen. They only get one request per day and if they fail to use it, the missed investigation is not carried over to the next day. If investigating the Godfather, the result will come back as a townie.

Captain Picard - Townie Whore. Having much skill in negotiating and keeping peace through the galaxy, Picard is able to often sway people to an action in line with his desires and wishes. Like the usual townie whore, if there is a tie at the end of the day, then townie whore is given a half hour period to decide which of the tied players should be eliminated. In addition, this player can change the vote of any player to a vote of their own choosing during the day. The player will send me the name of the player who's vote they wish to change as well as telling me what the new vote will be in a pm. The host will then update that vote and it will be locked in for the rest of the day. This can even apply in regards to a player who hasn't even voted yet that day.

Lt. Commander Data - Borg Destroyer. As an android, Data can not be assimilated into the Borg. If he is targeted for assimilation by the Queen, he will not be swayed to join the Borg and will eliminate the Queen. Once the Queen is eliminated, he will then be made aware of all players who have been assimilated and can deprogram one player of his choosing each day through a pm to the host although he will be unaware of their true nature. If Lore has become Borg commander and attempts to assimilate Data, Data will also eliminate Lore like he would the Queen.

Mafia

Sela the Romulan - Mafia Godfather. Daughter of Tasha Yar, she has been meddling in Federation affairs in efforts to boost the power and influence of the Romulan Empire. As the Godfather, this player will pm the host with the name of any player they wish to eliminate from the game. If investigated by the townie detective, their role will be revealed as a townie.

Gul Madrid the Cardassian - Mafia Investigator. A highly skilled interrogator of the Cardassian Intelligence organization who uses methods of torture to break down a person's will. Because of the time it takes to break down a person's will, the investigation results take 2 days to arrive. So, if the player investigates someone on Day 1 then they will get their result on Day 3.

Lore - Mafia Goon 1. Data's "brother" and prototype. He has been reconstructed by this nefarious group and seeks revenge on the Enterprise crew for dismantling him. This player can not be assimilated by the Borg. Instead, as their ideal life form, he would become their leader and eliminate the Borg Queen.

Adm. Erik Pressman - Mafia Goon 2. There's always a corrupt Starfleet officer pulling some sort of crap. Erik Pressman is responsible for the Pegasus disaster. With his career in Starfleet over, he has allied with Sela in effort to get revenge and regain some power. This player can not be affected by the townie whore vote change ability.

Other

The Borg

Borg Queen - The Borg Queen has the power to assimilate other players into the Borg collective whether Mafia or Townie. The Borg Queen lies dormant until a vote is cast against her thereby alerting her to the presence of the players in this section of the galaxy. To clarify, a vote has to be made against this player that is counted at the end of the daily vote tally. If a person makes a vote against this player but later changes that vote to someone else by the time the final tally is made then the Borg Queen remains inactive.

Once activated, the Borg Queen can select any player of their choosing each night in a pm to me and that player will be assimilated into the Borg collective. If the Borg Queen assimilates any player with a role then that ability becomes the Borg Queen's to use and the player with the role will no longer be able to submit it. If the Queen tries to assimilate the player with the Lore role then the Queen is eliminated and all her powers go to Lore. If the Queen tries to assimilate Data then she is eliminated and any other powers she acquired go inactive.

The Borg Queen wins if all remaining players are assimilated and/or all non-Borg players are eliminated. Even if the Queen dies but the remaining collective win then the Queen and all remaining Borg players alive share in the victory.

Borg member - If a player is assimilated into the Borg then it is like they have joined a mafia. As a hive mind collective, the Borg are aware of all members their group consists of. However, individuals will not know what another persons role was before being assimilated. Only the Queen or Lore as leader would have that information. As a member of the Borg, past loyalties are forgotten and all members would be working for a Borg victory even if the Queen and or Lore are eliminated. Although players in the Borg are free to vote as they choose, the only rule is that they will not vote for against another Borg member. Any such vote made will not count. If an assimilated player is unassimilated through Data then they return to their original role and loyalty.

And there are 2 townies still active.

Well, this is certainly a bait-and-switch if ever I've seen one.

Ain't that the truth.  :(

Rules

Voting

Everyday we have a vote. During the vote, you can pick any person you want by simply typing VOTE (NAME). Please bold the vote to make it noticeable and official. You can change your vote at any time. If you change your vote, please go back and unbold your previous vote or delete it. You can only cast one vote each day. If you have made two votes in the day, neither will be counted.

Each day, the deadline for voting will be mentioned in the announcements section. When this time occurs, the thread will be locked, thereby preventing any illegal vote changing. The vote you had up to that time will be counted. You are free to change or cast votes until the thread is locked even if the lock occurs a bit after the announced deadline.

You can talk to anyone in the game and can co-operate with anyone you want in the game. Sending private messages to others in the game is allowed and welcomed. All players regardless of their role can cast a vote. You can play your role however you want but I always recommend you play it to win as that will make things the most interesting in the game.

Night Actions

After the Day vote has ended, it is the time for night actions. If a player has a role that gives them a certain power, I.E. protection or a hit, this player must send their order for the action to the host in a private message. Afterwards, the host will go through all the orders, resolve them and carry them out and then start the next day's vote. This is done until a winner is declared.

Night actions can also be submitted during the day period but there will always be an hour given after a thread is locked for night actions to be submitted as a final deadline. You can change your night actions at anytime during the day and night period until the deadline is reached. The most recent action I receive will be the one I will use.

Voting ties

Sometimes, the day vote comes down to the wire with two or more people tied in number of votes cast against. If the deadline comes and the vote is tied, it will be resolved in the following way. First, the role of Picard has the chance to break the tie. The power of that role allows the player to choose who they think should be voted out. They would send this decision to the host in private message. If Picard has not sent in a decision by the time the next day is about to begin, neither person is voted out. However, all night actions are still carried out. This could be damaging to the townies and would thus want to be avoided.

In the event that Picard is killed during the game, ties will be resolved the following way. After the deadline has been reached and there is a tie, the day vote will stay open a half hour longer to allow a tiebreak. This means that anyone who hasn't voted yet has a chance to cast a vote and break the tie or if someone has voted then they can change their vote or delete it. In the even of a tiebreak, a vote can only be cast or removed for one of the players tied in the vote. If at the end of the 30 extra minutes no tiebreak has occured, then both players remain alive and all night actions still go forth. Avoid ties townies. It will only hurt you.

Dead Players

Dead players are allowed to talk with one another or in a specially created Dead Thread. They are not allowed to talk to those still playing the game nor are they allowed to give out information regarding the game. Doing so will make you known as a scumbag and your cancerous reputation will spread among all other forum users so that they also can shun you.

Win Conditions

The townies win by eliminating all mafia members as well as the Borg Queen and any Borg in the game. Picard, Data, Deanna and Beverly are townies and would win in a townie victory.

The Mafia would win by eliminating the Borg Queen and any Borg in the game and achieving at least a tie between the amount of townies and Mafia members left in the game if not a majority of more mafia members than townies.

The Borg Queen wins if all remaining players are assimilated and/or all non-Borg players are eliminated. Even if the Queen dies but the remaining collective wins then the Queen and all remaining Borg players alive share in the victory.

Now, I know that is a lot of reading and can look complicated but it isn't. And if you don't want to read everything here that's fine. Feel free to ask a question on whatever you want an answer for and I or someone else may quote the appropiate answer from here. After a day or two, you'll understand most of these rules anyways. Good luck and have fun.
