TalkBack / RE:EDITORIAL: The Lost Innovations
« on: March 02, 2005, 07:39:04 PM »
Hey Rick, great job, awesome editorial. I totally agree with everything you said. I don't mean to sound blashphemous, but in order to affect the most change, perhaps you should submit this article to a site widely read, like IGN or Gamespot. Those sites get massive traffic, and I'm sure they would print it it, or at least a link to PGC. Because american developers don't seem to realize this yet.

TalkBack / RE:Madden Sells Big
« on: August 23, 2004, 07:47:38 PM »
Well, you guys have to remember one very important thing: the video game industry is not what it once was. Games aren't just for geeks anymore. Now everyone from Harvard preps to ghetto gangstas play them. If I remember correctly, last year someone released a poll, of which the results showed that something like 24% of gamers buy exclusively sports game. While I can't prove this by any means, I do believe it based on personal experience.  My brother, for instance, plays only Madden. He buys the newest installments every year on launch date and seems happy playing it for a year until the next one releases. He calls himself a "Hardcore Madden Gamer".

I've gone to this length, Mouse_Clicker, to try to give you all a glimpse into the minds of people like this. The double standard you refer to is definitely there, but people who are like that don't see it. They seem to have lost sight completely of what made video games fun in the first place and are in some sort of weird EA-induced gaming hypnosis.

TalkBack / RE:Official E3 Awards Nominees Announced
« on: May 29, 2004, 06:28:49 AM »
Guys, I have a question. Here's the way I see it:

Sony released online periphrials for the Playstation 2. Developers are now using them in their games.
Microsoft released online periphrials for the Xbox. Developers are now using them in thieir games.
Nintendo released online periphrials for the GameCube. Developers ARE NOT using them in thieir games.  WHY?

TalkBack / RE:Paper Mario 2 on the Way

I'm much more knowledgable about Mario than Zelda, but after beating Super Mario Sunshine and playing the Wind Waker, I have to agree. Although both games rely heavily on fantasy aspects, something about the Zelda universe seems much better suited for a dark and gritty atmosphere.

TalkBack / RE:Game Tour Hits College Campuses
« on: March 26, 2004, 03:59:55 PM »
The article didn't specify certain things such as whether or not the tour will be open to the public, just college students, or just students attending that college. Is there an admission fee? If it opens at 10 or 11, when does it close and what are your chances of being able to play that special game you've been waiting for with all the people that will be there?

why was the d-terminal analog in the first place? I have a HDTV and after seeing the substantial improvement in picture quality when switching from composite to component cables, I was surprised to read that component was analog. Or did I just misunderstand? Keep up the BS-free news, PGC!

4-speaker surround sound! What the heck! Games have been using 5-speaker surround sound for two years now!Why has a respectable company like THX gone and done a thing like this?

TalkBack / RE:GameCube’s Mid-Term Report Card
« on: December 24, 2003, 10:01:27 AM »
If Nintendo would just focus on American gaming preferences instead of Japenese, it would control much more of the market. And yes, as much as I hate to say it, that means investing alot more of their resources into making the cube a more sports-oriented console. But sports is only a portion of the required action. Online would go a long way toward making Nintendo #1 again. It's not that I'm the first one to say these things, but I do firmly believe them.
