A few cards are coming your way in the mail now. I don't know how long it takes - but assume they'll arrive sometime next week?  Let me know if they arrive ok!

My wife said the package arrived today. Thanks so much!

Kairon: What would be the sweet spot in the number of cards bought to make it worth your while to ship? I'm don't want to sink too much into this each transaction, but I would like to participate.  I have your address from the Patreon post-cards. I could send you a check and you could send me a grab bag in return. I don't know what the etiquette is on here for discussing price, but I was thinking I'd send you $25 to cover the cards and shipping. You can PM what you think is a fair number of cards for that. I'll send you a list of what I have with the check. I don't care what you send back as long as Vladimir-132 is in the first batch :)

ejamer: I don't know if this would be fun for you, but one way I thought of gameifying purchase of the new cards (assuming you have a hard time finding them locally) would be for me to get them and then ship them to you. I'd open them to keep any duplicates, but pass on everything else. You could then send me an equivalent number of the earlier sets in return.

I'd open them to keep any duplicates, but pass on everything else. You could then send me an equivalent number of the earlier sets in return.

I'm not sure that's good value for you... maybe it would make more sense for you open packs and only send me your doubles?  Or maybe I could trade back at a 2-1 value for any cards you find that I'm missing? Or you could send me a copy of the Wii U release of Darksiders when it's released for however many cards I have that you'd want. Open to just about any trade idea or offer, as long as it's a good deal both ways.

Duplicates don't benefit me by just sitting here - they'd be much better in the hands of another friend of the forums.

For reference, sorted my doubles and took out everything that Kairon is already offering (I think 27 cards). These are the doubles I have that aren't already listed above:

006 - Resetti
010 - Pascal
018 - Bob
027 - Lopez
031 - Sheldon
049 - Bonbon
050 - Punchy
055 - Snake
069 - Bella
073 - Flo
076 - Jeremiah
091 - Muffy
093 - Bertha
099 - Molly
100 - Walker
105 - Copper
106 - Booker
113 - Isabelle
119 - Felicity
120 - Ozzie
135 - Phoebe
137 - Cookie
142 - Peck
218 - Lilly
234 - Marina
239 - Ricky
279 - Biskit
284 - Chadder
300 - Chrissy
304 - Phineas
365 - Peggy
393 - Frobert

By combining cards from Kairon and me, you'd be close to finishing the first set.

Thanks for listing that out. I'm in no rush, I have more than enough new characters to try out when amiibo functionality is introduced, and I'll soon have the second of my two favorites, so I can wait to get something you need in exchange for your doubles. That will be more fun than just buying packs. That Darkmasters release sounds like a great idea.

Yay!  The cards from Kairon arrived today - in crazy good packing too. In fact, he made me feel inadequate about my card packing.  I vow to do better!

The timing was great though, since the recent Animal Crossing Direct has me kind of jazzed to finish off my collection (such as it is... not looking for a "real" finish, just getting it to a point I'm happy with).

Thanks very much!

Now that I'm hooked on  the game again, I'm interested in jumping into the Amiibo card side of things. I'm wondering what the people here who have been into them for a while would suggest someone starting from scratch to go about things.

Hmmm... Are you trying to collect all the cards, only specific cards, or just get a bunch of cards to play with?

If you just want a good number of cards to play with and aren't too picky about specific characters, one idea might be buying a couple packs of welcome amiibo, then trading any extras of those with those of us here who have a whole bevy of extra older cards not doing us much good.

I'm not looking to collect all of them, I'd just like a nice selection of them to use with the game.I guess I'll try that way, get a few packs and work from there.

No word on an NA release.

I ordered the UK version from Game:
http://www.game.co.uk/en/m/animal-crossing-new-leaf-sanrio-amiibo-cards-pack-1733776

Shipping sucked. :/

I also have a set of the Japanese versions coming from SUPER... I think.  He said he got them and took my address, but never gave me a total or his PayPal address.

There are six amiibo cards and six art cards.  The UK pack comes with all six amiibo cards and zero art cards.  The Japanese packs come with, I believe, one random amiibo card and one random art card.

Thanks! I'm not worried about the art cards really, those aren't Amiibo so I think I can live without them. And thank goodness that it's the full collection in one guaranteed pack, none of this worrying about random cards and then the (fun, but worrisome) ques to trade up to a full collection afterwards!

Are we doing this, or what? :D

Pending the arrival of my Japanese or British packages, I'll be three short of the Series five set, and thus three short of having one of every amiibo (although I don't have the Monster Hunter ones yet... waiting for a US release, but I'm starting to get itchy and I'm probably going to end up importing them... grr...)

So, picked up a full case of the new cards (50 cards in the set, 10 packs per case with six cards per pack, so 60 cards total) - ended up with 47 of the set and 13 duplicates.  Not bad at all - much better than the first four series.  At least it seems that way.  I suppose, if you did the math, I bought 18 packs in Series 2, 3, and 4 and I essentially bought the equivalent of 20 packs of Series 5 - so that might throw the numbers off a little... but I'll take it!

Here's my Needs:
2   Hopkins
14   Ketchup
35   Weber

And here's my Haves:
4   Piper
5   Paolo
12   Wade
16   Stu
18   Jacob
24   Murphy
27   Claude
31   Bea
34   Boots
39   Cashmere
44   Snooty

I was going to use a spare crappy EU binder I had, but I just really didn't like the way the cards looked in the binder (since they're rotated landscape and all).  Figured I'd share the link.

So, finally remembered this was still a thing and went out and bought some packs. I think the problem is that these are 50 brand new characters so it's hard to get excited about them compared to the previous cards with your favorite villagers and AC characters. Kind of how like the Lottie Amiibo hasn't performed well and has to be sold at a deep discount from the original sell price because she is a brand new character that had just appeared in a game for the first time 1 month before her Amiibo was released. She was an unproven character with no fan support but Nintendo expected people to buy her anyways because she was part of the AC Amiibo line.

Anyways, mini-Amiibo rant aside, I did not do quite as well as UncleBob in the odds department. I also bought 60 cards but only got 40/50 characters so I am looking for 10 cards to finish the set. Here are my details:

(And sorry Unclebob. Of the 20 duplicates I've got, none of them are the 3 you are looking for.)

Duplicates to trade:

13 - Carrie
17 - Ursala
18 - Jacob
19 - Maddie
22 - Bitty
23 - Maggie
27 - Claude (X2)
30 - Louie
31 - Bea
40 - Tad (x2)
41 - Norma (x2)
42 - Gonzo
47 - Buzz
48 - Cleo (X2)
50 - Tasha (x2)

What I am looking to acquire:

5 - Paolo
10 - Sylvana
28 - Raddle
35 - Weber
37 - Leopold
38 - Spike
43 - Sprocket
44 - Snooty
45 - Olive
46 - Dobie

(That's right. Both UncleBob and I are looking for #35 - Weber. Here's hoping someone else is a Weber treasure trove of duplicates to help us both.)

Yikes! Welcome Amiibo could be a challenge! I actually only got 6 packs to start with, so later this week I'm going to order another 3 packs and see where that leaves me.

I think the problem is that these are 50 brand new characters so it's hard to get excited about them compared to the previous cards with your favorite villagers and AC characters.

I don't think that's actually true. I'm not sure if there aren't some new characters, but I'm looking at a Hornsby card right now and I remember this fellow pretty well.

Anyways, my only duplicates so far are:

*Snip*

But after I get more packs I'll come back and update this post.

Update: I finally found time to grab a couple more packs, updated list below:

Update 2: I grabbed four more packs! Got a bunch more doubles to trade!

I'm looking for these 7 Welcome Amiibo cards:

4 - Piper
16 - Stu
19 - Maddie
21 - Boyd
25 - Plucky
44 - Snooty
50 - Tasha

I have these extra Welcome Amiibo cards:

1 - Vivian (2)
2 - Hopkins
3 - June
6 - Hornsby (2)
7 - Stella
8 - Tybalt
9 - Huck (3)
10 - Sylvana
11 - Boris
13 - Carrie (2)
14 - Ketchup
15 - Rex (2)
17 - Ursala
23 - Maggie
24 - Murphy
26 - Sandy
28 - Raddle (2)
31 - Bea (2)
32 - Admiral
36 - Candi
37 - Leopold
39 - Cashmere
42 - Gonzo
45 - Olive
46 - Dobie
48 - Cleo
49 - Ike

*For extra regular (#1 - 400) Animal Crossing Amiibo cards that I have in hand, please refer to my previous post here

Most of them are not new characters.

Many of them debuted in the N64/GCN/GCN+ game and have  never been heard from again.

Yeah, that's right. When I saw Kairon's post, I remember hearing somewhere that these were older characters that hadn't appeared in a game for sometime. Maybe it was the Nintendo Direct for them. However, I'm talking about the characters like Crazy Redd, Blathers and Sable who have appeared in all the past games and are sort of mainstays. Even with the other AC cards, there were plenty of villagers I didn't recognize or know about. But at least there were always some of those main characters still sold with them. Even though these characters may have appeared in a game before, they're pretty much new characters to me.
